This is all an exercise in futility. Both Mullens and Fine had terrible freshman years. Near-worst in the country for their respective years. The key is how Mullens did afterwards, and how Fine will learn and grow from his first year. Questions you need to ask yourself: How did he progress as a passer (technique, accuracy, delivery) through the course of the season He improved, some areas more than others How did he progress as a decision maker Ehh.... How did he progress as a leader No doubt the huddle was his How much more playbook did we see as the year progressed Not sure How will Fine do in his second year? Say it with me: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ *insert what do we do when we fall motivational batman quote*

HOD Bowl Depth Chart Minus Seniors/Transfers (offense)
Aldo replied to TreeFiddy's topic in Mean Green Football
At the end of Spring QB: Fine and Pearson competing with no named starter at the end of Spring camp. Isadore still recovering from injury. RB: Wilson and Nic Smith WR: X: Guyton (I could see Bussey here, if Guyton see the Y spot) A: Hair-Griffin Y: Kelvin Smith, and I want to say Guyton gets some looks Z: Bussey (Smiley, if Bussey at X) -

This staff has started from the FBS bottom (and ranked behind dozens of FCS during the 2016 preseason). My observations (within the context of North Texas football) The not good: Not a good showing Can't depend on diamonds in the rough/underrated prospects as a major part of your recruiting strategy Need moar talent The good: Filling a roster that was previously lacking talent and losing players (FCS size). While not talent-filled, still upgrading several positions (it's all relative?) Attacking areas of concern (OL, WR, QB), including just plain depth Adding playmakers on offense (WR) Final thought: Can do better, but we are filling areas of need (eg, better talent in general). While we didn't recruit better, we are upgrading several positions. B- (Digging these offensive pieces)

Boom. -
4.5 is plenty fast. Haven't watched his highlights so idk if that's accurate.

Almost thought I was about to watch some instructional video from the 80s.

I think you mean the most suspenseful, and therefore most exciting! You don't even know what's coming next! LOIs will be flying through that fax machine, the AD is going have to get a baseball glove just to catch em.

You've doomed us all! -
Wow he is fast. Eyeball emoji the fact that he's also a safety.

Siggers would be a great add on offense.

Statistical Analysis of Recruiting in C-USA
Aldo replied to AustinFromUNT's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I think Austin's on the right track, but needs a little more fine tuning and more specific tests. Found this paper. It's pretty simple and straightforward, but it's kind of what we're trying to do here. Also interesting is that recruiting classes this year will not have an effect on wins later on because recruit quality is practically the same for each team year after year (ugh). http://www.econ.ohio-state.edu/trevon/pdf/Bergmen_Logan.pdf And in regards to seeing recruiting class effects over time seems negligible: -
I think @TreeFiddy is saying to blueshirt a Will Johnson level talent if they turn out not to qualify. Although, is that possible? Ie, why didn't we blueshirt Will Johnson after learning he didn't qualify?

MGB: UNT releases football schedule, thoughts
Aldo replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Gotcha. While I enjoy watching us play them, we've definitely hamstrung ourselves scheduling a long series between SMU and Army, so I am eager to see what we can schedule at home in the future. -
MGB: UNT releases football schedule, thoughts
Aldo replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Well yeah, that's a factual, but a very general statement. If he can't turn this ship around, then obviously it's the wrong hire, but he's been here 6 months. Baker couldn't get us out of a 2017 schedule (that I assume you mean Lamar) in 6 months. Hasn't turned around financials in 6 months (that we know of any new big donations). To use you against you, we don't know what we have yet, we can't predict his success since he has just got here. I want to see who he hires for MBB, that's a more tangible (and quick) measure of his abilities since that is just around the corner. There is evidence (on Twitter) of him looking at replacement options. One of those tweets included scheduling Syracuse for either 2017 or 2018, and I recall it was talked about on this board (while people knocked Syracuse, of course).
