  1. We need to focus on bringing in folks like Kroger Sushi first, before thinking bigger.
  2. lol this is the perfect allegory for fans of UNT Athletics
  3. Hey I bet that facility will be first class.
  4. That's definitely true, but if we beat someone like Memphis (which I like in our future schedule for us) at home, that seems like a more impactful than a win over a 1-, 2-, 5-win team over the past 3 seasons. (For reference, Memphis went 10, 9, and 8 wins in that span). Memphis (already scheduled), USF, SDSU, Tulsa (heh heh), Temple to name a few. ________________________________ My major malfunction isn't that we are scheduling SMU. It's that it's such a long series, in combo with Army, prohibiting us from scheduling a more diverse array of opponents.
  5. Name recognition to folks who saw the pony express happen (ie, winning), and people who live in DFW. SMU's "prominence" quickly fades outside of DFW (as someone who grew up elsewhere). Don't get me wrong, it's a fun series for locals and I get revved up watching it, but if we're talking about name recognition, there are better mid majors out there.
  6. Yeah he sounds like that evil guy in a nursery rhyme baking birds into pies. Who does that?
  7. This is a better metric (and puts us 107 overall): http://www.footballstudyhall.com/pages/2016-college-football-advanced-statistical-profiles ETA: oh i see, ditto to what @AustinFromUNT said
  8. Meh it's a one sided affair. We bring way more folks to their stadium than we they bring to ours. There are other - quality - G5's out there.
  9. The Mean Wren? He's right tho. Y'all can do better. (And not The Baker)
  10. Yup. That plus 4.6 speed. I assume he has stone-hand alligator arms.
  11. this thread gives me football wood
  12. 6'3"!!
  13. Mike A Myers stadium while huge (20K), is spartan. When they hold those Texas Relays, tho... Big event and huge draw. Saw Maurice Greene there back in 2001. Would love to see the new stadium become a huge draw for relays, high school and college.
  14. Hope Vito is foia'ing the crap out of that (and the new assistants') contracts I totally agree with you here, but as was mentioned, it's essentially a 1 year extension vs Mac's 3 year extension. I think it's a money/clause/contract specifics changes, and for Littrell to agree, he needed the year? I dunno just speculatin'.
  15. When Gronk was at Arizona, Sonny Dykes was the OC 07 and 08 (Gronk hurt 09 before getting drafted in 10). Dykes, like Littrell is a Leach disciple. They flex out tight ends into receivers. If Kelvin Smith is ever blocking, I think it'll be out of a package that has him lined up in the backfield as an H-back. That gives you the option to use him as a blocker, or as a receiver.
  16. Anyone got a link to the deets yet? ETA: (cause I haven't found one yet). Curious if they moved money around or just tacked on a year.
  17. Though I will say I appreciate that we are keeping it a healthy debate and not picking or insulting.
  18. Hard to tell but I think CSU? His situation kind of reminds me of last year's (2 yrs?) Easton Bruere from NM. Signed with Butler.
  19. Not sure that makes any sense, there's a logical fallacy in there some where. We were a Sun Belt team with Sun Belt-level recruits competing against Sun Belt teams. Which those DD teams did well against. Now we're a CUSA trying to get CUSA-level recruits to beat CUSA-level teams. What about them? They certainly beat us, but in general we beat Sun Belt teams more often than not. Those were still better teams in better conferences with better recruits that we generally got paid to play. McCarney couldn't beat Texas. Does that make him bad? Not because of that. He got us a bowl win and we will thank him historically for reaching that rare feat (here). ______________________________ Look: sure those were not "quality" wins in the Sun Belt. We didn't have a choice being a member of the Sun Belt. But they were wins. That's all I'm saying. Dodge couldn't manage to win in the Sun Belt.
  20. from UT San Antlolnio
  21. No one cares what it does for them. No one talks about it because the big boys all have them. It's not a special thing. I'd love to see the correlation-therefore-causation of going from leather helmets to hard helmets and the drop from prominence of some rando school. Uh huh OK. I'd love to see a vid of you training next to these dudes in two a days in the luxurious environment of an IPF.
  22. Can't move the target. North Texas was in the Sun Belt. And North Texas won the Sun Belt. A lot. Under Dickey. Gotta keep in context. So what if he couldn't win in MWC or Big East or Big 12. I don't care, we aren't in those conferences (tho thank you for all that money). I'm not advocating (as I already said) that DD is a great coach. Just saying he won a lot and he deserves credit, not "well but" arguments to delegitimize our own conference titles and bowl appearances. You wanted wins, you had them, but now let's put and asterisk on them? No thanks. I'm not going to prop up hypotheticals to build my argument. He won, plain and simple. Sun Belt sucked? Sure. But he won. Who are these bowl eligible teams he couldn't beat? Let's take a sampling (and a guess at them being bowl eligible). Not sure many North Texas teams could. TCU Alabama Texas Tech Oklahoma USF Arizona Arkansas Colorado Baylor K State
  23. Not sure we are arguing who was a better coach, what is an effective run pass ratio, who had better play calling, who did better recruiting. It's about winz, titles, and bowls, and Dickey had more of them than the next 2. Nearly 20 years later that scoreboard is all I see, but I'd rather appreciate the past and focus on a better future. I would LOVE to have more titles.
  24. lol comparing colleges and schools (and their existence) probably is not the way you want to go buddy, especially considering how much bigger our CoE is. F for effort, tho. Keep trying, you'll get a zinger of an academic insult one of these days, I'm sure of it.
  25. Ha the idea that an IPF would affect on-field performance (negatively or positively) is laughable. The heat gave us, what, an advantage in ONE game ages ago? How many Texas teams do we play (and that's not an invitation for "more the reason to practice outside" retort)? The Syracuse reference is stupid. Longhorns won a NC after the Bubble was built, and had nothing to do with it. Meaningless rhetoric and a waste of pages and quotes. We're gonna get an IPF whether YOU want one or not. The recruits, players, and players of the other sports will love it. So sit down and I can't wait for uniform talk.
