I hear Dickey's OOC record thrown around a lot. North Texas was trying to pay bills back then (in a worse way than recently). So let's look at his *in season* OOC schedule while in the Sun Belt. In season because we have control of who we schedule (in a sense). Losses unless otherwise noted 2001 OOC (First year in SBC) TCU #3 Oklahoma Texas Tech USF Troy 2002 OOC #3 Texas Nicholls (Win) Alabama TCU Arizona USF 2003 OOC #1 Oklahoma Baylor (Win) Air Force #14 Arkansas Troy (Win) 2004 OOC #7 Texas Colorado Baylor 2005 OOC Tulsa Kansas State La Tech #7 LSU 2006 OOC #3 Texas SMU (Win) Tulsa Akron La Tech Rough.

I think the fact that Kiffin was able to come in take an average, underperforming squad, add some talent to it and run the table shows the disparity between the G5 and P5 in terms of coaching talent. A coach like that wouldn't hang around for too long. That, or it's a redemption story (looking at you, Butch Davis).

dang negative space throwing me for a loop -
I'm not intending to be a jerk here. I think Kidsy was trying to lay claim to Houston for UNT while in Rice's house and I think folks missed that.
-
I mean it's Houston's universal hand sign. It's not a secret. I think y'all are just overreacting over something you didn't understand. That's ok. But now you know, and now understand that it's not a slight to North Texas. Kidsy was showing the home team (Rice) that we may be in your house, but I've just made it my house. Reppin Houston in the green.

He was in his hometown in front of friends and family. They're student athletes, not NBA players.

I know it's been hard for a while with nothing to be excited about, but glad we can finally explode onto the scene with this class. If we finish this cycle with this much momentum, we'll be able to relax knowing this staff is can do it and can go again soon.

These new defensive recruits will create a no fly zone

I know a lot of folks that have been excited about the Littrell era from Day 1. Others have had a wait and see approach before contributing their hard-earned money. (Division winner, CUSA championship appearance, 2 for 2 bowl appearances, recruiting momentum) Other folks were excited about the Baker era. Others had a wait and see approach before contributing their hard-earned money. (motherlovin CBI winners, successes through olympic sports, indoor facility, etc) Have you waited and seent enough? Together we can whoop up. Let's do this thang so we can stop being one of the crappiest in terms of season tix and middling contributions. Culture change starts with us.

lol not UTSA -
If we only ever had Juniors and Seniors starting at QB I would be oh so happy. A freshman starting is only a REALLY bad situation or a REALLY good situation.

Nice.

Ford Stadium smells like piss at concessions. Change my mind.

lol y'all are ridiculous. We already do the whole "committed elsewhere" thing here. These are just facts he's tweeting out. If you don't like it when folks commit elsewhere, well...good. Let the hate flow through you and donate for a better recruiting budget.

Without looking, we probably have a near identical W-L record in that span. Since our move back up to D1, it's probably still near identical. But you make a good point about how/why SMU can beat UNT in recruiting year after year when not having much to show for it. It's about that cash money. You spend it on coaches. You spend it on recruiting. We don't have near the recruiting budget nor the close proximity to that fine Dallas lifestyle. SWC has got nothing to do with it. None of these recruits (or anyone really under the age of 35) care about the SWC. SMU has money to spend, and they spend it. Chad Morris was a mediocre coach at SMU, but coming from Clemson had the chops and connections to sell a rebuild to recruits. Sonny Dykes has the chops and connections as well (most recently at Cal, LT, and TCU). The AAC is a quality conference in the eyes of many. They've got some good programs on there that are well regarded and ranked. Not to mention the National Champions. SMU has got money, location, and conference, and they use it. Even though they still suck.
