Dang, this kid is fluid and agile. I like his patience and he's got an awesome second gear when needed. Explodes through the hole. I'm sure the knock on him is 170lbs. Can he get up to 180 and keep his explosiveness (see: 4.18 shuttle)? Do we need him to get bigger? He'd be a ST menace. It was really cool watching his video go from freshman to senior year and watch his running style develop.

Also worth noting is that his name is Rowdy.

I know you're comparing with the modern era, but let's go back a little further and remember the AFL's first (1960) ROY, first MVP, and first leading rusher in Abner Haynes. Who is also the first black player, a walk-on, to play at a state school (which also happened to be the first state school to integrate). Proud of my alma mater!

But to get back on point, I hope Bean is as advertised, and that Wallace showcases that 4-star rating.

Although I think the LB unit (the side of the field Akunne wasn't) as a whole was our biggest weakness. DL issues still carry over from last year while a big can of ? comes with this new LB lineup. Our pass D can hold its own in the league. Problems arise situationally when the DBs are having to do their job and the LBs as well.

Not sure why Buyers has been getting a bad wrap. imo I saw Jones get legitimately beat on multiple occasions down the sideline or on deep crosses.

Imo, guys like Gates, Gonzalez, JThomas, Graham, wouldn't fare as well in the NBA. So moreso the player's direction, rather than NFL team's attempting to find diamonds in the rough. 6'7", 250lb would be a great NFL TE size, but might be on the smallish size for a power forward in the NBA (Gates I believe is 6'6"). The trend is cooling tho, seeing that you have to hit a home run in order for it to work, and they are few and far between. JThomas has his limitations, and it took him several years to pan out.

Never said he was not a huge loss. And I am not a DT hater, I appreciate what he did. I just will argue that the defense and special teams deserved more credit for our overall record in 2013 than DT did. We were getting top 25 votes because of them, not our offense. Our offense was still average to below average nationally in several categories. Our defense was top 20, top 10 in several categories. BUT, I never expected our passing production to go from fairly average, to what-the-heck-do-you-call-that.

To be fair to Cr1028 (and I'm half-eating my words), I would have preferred DT's 2013 efficiency over what he had in 2014. There I said it. And I am strictly speaking about efficiency here. 64.4 %Comp, 7.4 ypa, and 223 ypa.

Lots of great points here. His %Comp certainly isn't high at 58% but I'll take his YPA at 8.2. Just anything that isn't 6.4 ypa. Here are his split stats. Interesting to note the difference between wins and losses (as Ben was mentioning) and home vs away. What we need is efficiency. McNulty did not show that. He did not improve down the stretch. He's got a gunslinger mentality, which I appreciate, but he doesn't have the consistency of placing the ball in tight windows and giving the receiver a chance to win that battle (To MSmith and Terrell's credit, they won a lot of those battles). When he does, it's awesome, but when he doesn't, it's a ball that gets slapped down (or is wildly off target). Also, McNulty's horizontal game is not good, and it is something we use frequently (another knock on the coaching staff, not calling plays to the players' abilities). That being said, whoever is starting at QB at Ford Stadjum, I'll be rooting for you 100%. If it takes you 40 attempts to hit 250 yards, so be it (but really, don't let that be the case).

Seems like they got switched to private. What I remember seeing was an accurate passer in the short and intermediate areas, with good arm strength and great delivery. Throws guys open, good anticipation, good vision. Good wheels. Oh and overall, fundamentally sound technique.

In this context, everyone is on level playing field then. (also, it's a hypothetical question) Dajon has got talent, Smith has got more. Way more. At this moment, neither is showing that they will start at Ford. Give me the guy with more talent.

Wasn't able to make it to the game, but from what I could see in the highlights, and to be fair they were offense highlights, the LBs weren't looking so hot. Saw similar mistakes from last year, leaving the safeties to mop up. Can anyone that was there shed any light on what they saw from the LBs?

If there's 8 guys in the box, I'd love to see MSmith, Goree, Rutherford, Harris, Kidsy, Thompson go 1 on 1. Let McNulty throw down seams or against man coverage and we can stay afloat. Go to the horizontal passing game, or give him too many reads and we're cooked.
