  1. If we don't bring a HS QB in 2016, then our 2017 HS QB better be really really good or develop really really fast
  2. That YPA difference is pretty significant.
  3. Wait, was I supposed to take them out of the jar first...?
  4. Our secondary has good talent and depth. And getting even more depth is better. It's the LBs I'm more concerned about.
  5. Not really. Creating a fake name and then changing it to suit your hypothetical doesn't really make your point. The OD school is the Texas College of Osteopathic Medicine. I'm sure it will follow an region-encompassing title such as TCOM. Besides, the marketing departments will be pissed to have to print so many letters.
  6. Just want to make sure everyone is clear that it's UNTHSC not UNT. Different schools, different presidents, different politics. TCU and UNTHSC has had academic and research partnerships already in place for years. UNTHSC has tried in the past to reinstate the MD program with no success, and this will finally push them over the edge. They've got a clinic, they've got new facilities, and they keep on building. UNTHSC has academic respectability and medical/research clout in its own right, which is why TCU is even interested. TCU taking over UNTHSC? Pish posh. And the parking? Amazing.
  7. 5 home games means 1 OOC, which would likely be FCS. I'd prefer 6 homes games, with 1 bought OOC win, and 1 solid mid-major OOC. With that home slate I'd be okay then playing the tier of teams that includes Illinois/Indiana/Purdue away game. You know, a game we have a fighting chance in.
  8. Surprisingly, North Texas ranked 8th in rush attempts in CUSA. I hope we can push that total up next year, and I hope Wilson can get the ball at least 200 times (and I hope his two fumbles in the UTSA game were a fluke). I also want to see a more decisive, bowling ball Jimmerson. He's got the size. Can't wait to see what Ivery can do in action.
  9. Ok so we didn't win a national title last year, or what they considered a WC? This is list is garbage.
  10. I think the first time we see Smith - that is, if he isn't starting out of the gate - is in the middle of the Iowa game.
  11. Yes, but... The statistical jump that McNulty has to make from last year to this year (production, efficiency) is way bigger than the one Thompson had to make in his last year. It's going to be very tough for McNulty. He'll have the same receivers, but his decision-making needs to improve and speed up, especially with a new line. Arm-strength (which he gets an unfair wrap assessment, it's his wind-up from the hip that affects his throws) doesn't matter if he doesn't find the wide open receiver, or anticipate the route.
  12. I've only been around since the Dickey days so I went with Mac.
  13. iirc, not all defensive snaps had the cornerback off the receiver. There were many times when Jones (sometimes Buyers) pressed. If so, Davis could be a good replacement in that regard. I like Grindle's tape, and I'm not entirely sold on Marshall with the coverage issues he had at LB. There's so much great competition coming in at CB, including the twins and Preston.
  14. But Alex Morgan gets my heart
  15. Can't tell if this is pessimism or wishful thinking...
  16. Good for him http://wvmetronews.com/2015/07/04/cato-impresses-in-cfl-debut/ " MONTREAL, Quebec – Montreal Alouettes coach Tom Higgins had a hunch and after losing his first two quarterbacks in the opening game of the season, Higgins decided to follow his gut and give former Marshall quarterback Rakeem Cato his first professional start, against the defending Grey Cup Champions, Calgary Stampeders. Cato did not disappoint. Cato completed 20-of-25 pass attempts for 241 yards, three touchdowns and no interceptions in his first professional football game. Marshall’s most prolific passer was even trending on Twitter in the United States and Canada during the Alouettes first win of the season."
  17. never liked it
  18. I agree. I'd love to see an Arizona State, Texas State, or Purdue type team in our stadyum. Other mid-majors plzkthx. I thought 2013 was a good example. Bringing in Idaho to start the year off, and then hosting Ball State. If we could have an upgrade over a team like Idaho, totally fine, but starting off the year beating someone else up for a change makes a difference. We have to be way better before the big fish want to come play here.
  19. I'm going with Carlos Harris, Jeffery Wilson, Marcus Smith, Chad Polk, Trevor Moore
  20. Hence the need to go get money elsewhere.
  21. I echo this sentiment, but I keep flip flopping on a shootout win vs Rice (which I would consider an upset) and a loss at USM (bc it is away). So still 5-7. WKU is the best team in the conference with all the folks Marshall graduated. No chance at an upset imho. UTSA graduated all those guys, so it has got to be a win, if we are healthy. Don't sleep on SMU. Not the same team or dynamic as last year, and they'll have game time under their belt, but they admittedly have a ways to go. I think we can pull the win, but it'll be more competitive. I think the defense - especially at LB - is an improvement from last year, but it may take a few games before we really see what kind of unit they are. If McNulty can improve his decision-making speed and awareness (which I didn't see an improvement in spring practices), we'll be okay. Relying [hoping] on DeMarcus Smith to be a CUSA - level QB, and for him to come in Oct.
  22. This guy's got jokes. I'll definitely be at the SMU game, trying to convince the wife about a Ruston trip.
  23. lol well here is the link directly to the offer list if it helps http://247sports.com/Recruitment/Deion-Hair-Griffin-84536/RecruitInterests Also interesting note: Yesterday his 247 score was N/A and today it is 76
