OK first list was too young -- how about these?
Aldo replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I half agree. I think we need to prove that coaches can win here. We are literally starting from the bottom. Get a few coaches that use us as a stepping stone for a while. (a long term process, maybe 15-20 years? We're left starting from scratch so we are going to have to climb up). But after that, the goal is to be able to get a guy that'll stick around because we are winning, and because we can get those recruits. -

If they can win here, they can win anywhere, which kinda goes back to the stepping stone concern. -

I kinda like the idea of a committee. I would think RV could potentially get vetoed, and we could get juicy leaks here and there -

In addition to an e-mail campaign: Don't forget to also tweet him at .@UNTPrez (notice the period in front of the @). And use the hashtag #FireRickV in your 140-character diatribe, I mean, plea. What's the hashtag really for, you ask? It categorizes tweets and let's you search for them. So go to twitter now and search for #FireRickV or #FireRV to see what others are saying. Positive spin time. There's enough dedicated threads for AD and coaching hires elsewhere. Right now, it's coachspeak time. It's a short week, and we're taking on WKU on national television. What better way to take them down than with their own QB? A non-literal taste of their own medicine. We'll also have those college gameday people to give us even more national, dare I say international, attention through the Twitters. And you know what these broadcasters will be talking about the most: brisket sammiches and beer! As well as how hungry these kids and this staff will be going into this game. I mean to win, not brisket sammiches. The broadcasters will also acknowledge all those "#FireRickV" signs people brought into the stadium and therefore it will get some national air time. I'm not saying people do it because it's a simple and cheap way to get a lot of attention and have your voices heard, I'm just sayin. This team will be chomping at the bit because they'll have plenty to prove but nothing to loseMan to man defense (which means Canales is butting in to the defensive scheme)Opening up the playbookA quarterback who we won't tell you who it is but you'll love who it is and hey did you know Damarcus Smith has the top 5 strongest arm Canales has ever seen but we aren't telling who the starting QB is because strategy oh but hey did you see how much improved Damarcus was this last game#BeatWKU

I think his stat line on Thursday will read something like 20/35 220 yds, 1 TD 2 INTs. Maybe a rush TD. Not great but it's a start. Gotta let him make mistakes, and let him learn. -
I hope we can test the middle of the field more *cough* Goree *cough*

Did he not deliver those [two] passes fast, on the money, and with poise, all while keeping his feet moving? I don't think he was being reckless, though I guess he could have tucked it. I appreciate he kept the ball up high around his chest when he recovered from the scramble, and then threw it on the move, and placed it well. -
It's like when a couple wants to divorce, but too afraid about never finding someone ever again.

I may get obliterated on this question...
Aldo replied to Tyler Maryak's topic in Mean Green Football
The only way I can be convinced of Canales staying, is that we can't find the right candidate to come along to replace Mac now. Not a knock on Canales but there is plenty of coaching talent out there. We need to act like the big boys and bring someone in. I would also cite QB recruiting, but Canales will not sign another QB here if he doesn't think he is going to stay. -

He danced around the QB question (didn't want to name someone WKU could prepare for), but he dropped hints and smiled the whole time. "You'll be happy." It's Smith y'all. As far as defense, he also mentioned going man. WOO! Let those kids play some football! -
One of the few guys I hope we retain into next season

I think my first question is: who will be calling the plays on Thursday? Will it be Canales, or will it be someone else? Will it be out of Canales' playbook/system? If it fails, who am I supposed to blame then? Canales, or the interim OC? Was the interim OC's hands tied? Sorry I am getting ahead of myself. -
As far as JUCOs go, I would definitely target only those that fill a need, whether it be depth at one position or a starter at another. Probably more of what we saw this past recruiting cycle at first, with the goal to try to decrease it over time as we sign and develop better HS recruits. Obvs DFW and Denton area, but definitely need to continue to establish east Texas as Mean Green country. Is it Grant that has a connection to that region? Maybe try to push into Tech territory and try to make a name for ourselves out west.
