  1. Whoops. fify
  2. And they shouldn't. But it's exciting this thing is moving along.
  3. The way to win against LaTech, Tenn, or MTSU will be through the air. Or at least running to set up the pass. These guys' run defenses are top notch. Pass defense suuuuucks.
  4. It has to be in the beginning of November. Mid-term signings will be in December.
  5. People, this guy will never sell tamales and churros like I did.
  6. It doesn't but thanks for trying. Good luck the rest of the way.
  7. I'll one up you, AND I'll take both the AD and HC job. In Madden25 I built a stadium in Mexico City, and moved the Colts and renamed them the Golden Eagles (foreshadowing). Record hot dog sales, consecutive SB appearances, and drafted the MVP QB, breaking multiple records. I have NFL experience, so I know what to look for in a player, and recruits love that $hit, and I'll go by the name Jerruh. Hot dogs.
  8. I did notice Thompson was pushed into the starting lineup ahead of Goree last week. Was Goree hurt? Thompson and Smith were not on the same page. I could see frustration building up as Smith missed him a couple times. To Thompson's credit, he's been getting open. Just need some time to build rapport. I've seen a lot of growth from Smiley, Kidsy might need some more time. Rutherford has not been used as often as I hoped. But it all goes back to DSmith. We haven't seen much from these guys as Smith is still learning and growing. I don't think his short accuracy will improve (without any touch), but his intermediate and deep ball should get more accurate with more (better?) coaching.
  9. Power move and politics. It's a public sign telling RV to step up his game because he's on his way out. (Smatresk has a very sneaky/political history, per former colleagues). I just wish it wasn't made public, but RV pushed the button by asking for a public vote of confidence. Makes for an embarrassing (and toxic) situation which some coaches might want to avoid. Also, Smatresk said about the "timing" wasn't right in the ntdaily article. He didn't say anything about RV being around for a long time to come. The signs are pointing that RV has tenuous support from the administration, and he will be gone unless all three big money sports improve. Which I hope, for UNT's sake.
  10. I kinda hope so.
  11. All the while we're getting tortured in a damp dark cell and being fed lies?
  12. A rough figure is mid twenties total, but I'm no expert. At this point in the recruiting cycle, we should only have had a handful left to offer. Most recruiting occurs over the summer. They've got to fill a whole class between December and January, and this was an issue before the mid-season fire.
  13. I understand your point, but I don't think fear should drive who we should or should not target. If he's a fit, then offer him.
  14. Way more than two.
  15. So I've been seeing some things thrown around too much that I would like us (as a "big" school) to stay away from. This whole idea of a short and/or cheap contract is tiring. First of all, no coach is going to sign a contract for anything less than 4/5 years, and no AD is going to sign them for less than that. This isn't free agency where you sign a one year veteran minimum to see if a guy still has it. One year? Three years? No one would offer that, and why would they? Makes no sense for either party for many reasons (no serious offers will garner no serious candidates). We want to be a big boy in football and we are going to act like it. Also, the whole hiring an inexpensive (read: inexperienced) coach will not fly either. McCarney was inexpensive as it was, and he had plenty of P5 experience. The average 2015 compensation: $1.96 million (if my internets did me right). Heck, even the bottom half averaged $829,231. Canales or no Canales (it's not going to be Canales), the next HC will garner 4/5 year contract, and above $800K. Because we are big boys and we act like big boys. (if I say it enough it will happen)
  16. He can complete the deep out and the WR screen, so that's something teams have to worry about that they didn't have to before. But I think it's more complex than just DaMarcus. The pass protection is just not there. WRs aren't getting open soon enough, DaMarcus isn't anticipating downfield. Add that to DaMarcus' propensity to hold onto it too long. Play-calling has been just okay. It ends up where you have either the pocket collapsing on him in 3-4 seconds, or him having to use his legs to make a play. If he doesn't get strip sacked next game I will be pleasantly surprised. If his legs sets us up to win games, and his arm doesn't lose them, I can handle that for the next season and a half. We've got a whole offseason for him to get it together with his teammates, learn the playbook, and for us to go out and grab a QB with the next coaching regime. Kind of reminds me of Matt Davis last year. And Davis has improved as a passer (by our historic standards).
  17. The passing game hasn't improved since Portland State. Nearly identical save for TDs/INTs. The running game has exploded. We went from 3.95 through PState, to 6.00 yards per rush the last three games. DaMarcus' ability to go down field, as well as create space allows the running game more room. I just hope this is DaMarcus' floor (equal to McNulty's ceiling) in terms of passing as he gels with his teammates. Holds on to the ball too long, is a little too cavalier, and needs some touch. Too Kaepernicky.
  18. No! Aw crap...
  19. Was that the sequel to Thunderstruck?
  20. awww too soon
  21. San Antonio Blue and orange, roadrunner. Did I win?
  22. It me
  23. I think Chris will be his first recruit wherever he lands next.
  24. I think this is a fairly meaty post that is being overlooked. Also, I am le tired of the topic and probably my last one for a while. RV is going to run out of facilities to build. Then what?
