  1. I voted. Here's the list. http://www.voteobrien.org/round2.asp
  2. as confirmed on their website http://www.voteobrien.org/voting-process.asp looks like they're checking on hanging chads
  3. I'm having a hard time remembering. Was this a Kyler Murray thing? ------------------------------------- Continuity is key. As long as we can keep the ball rolling (whenever that may be) Littrell is building something (read: not done yet) that the next person can just come along and pick it back up
  4. Eric Morris is building something in SA. Not sure if he wants to leave that quite yet, and shoot for a better HC spot later. The Briles name is tainted. Can't be a part of something so egregious and try and distance yourself from it. No way I want that kind of attention at North Texas. No amount of logical fallacies and context removals can justify that. Baylor is still reeling and they're still uncovering crud that it just reminds everyone "oh yeah remember that one time..." We can bring a head coach rather than an up and coming OC now, methinks. In terms of retread HCs or even OC options what about Tony Franklin, Robert Anae, or a youngin like Jake Spavital
  5. Y'all were busy this weekend I see 👀
  6. Hopefully I kept my mouth on the mic this time
  7. Weird. His offer is listed as dual but his profile has him listed as PRO. Shrug. He definitely runs like a big guy (long stride, almost lumbering) but he can run it. Will be interested to see how many runners we try to get in, considering we have guys like Jason Bean on the roster.
  8. Dang. That's a big dude for dual threat
  9. YEAH BUT LOUISIANA DONT GOT NO LANE KIFFIN Ahem. Excuse me. We need more Jeff Brohms and CUSA has better access to the Jeff Brohms. Time for a burger.
  10. Oh *that* Riley. I have been clickbait'd
  11. All things considered yes it was as good as we could have hoped for coming up from SBC. Whether we like it or not, the AAC is the most prominent mid major. Can we get there? I think we can. The schools are doing their part by hiring quality coaches.
  12. When you have a top heavy league, you generally see articles praising that team (I'm recalling many WKU or LaTech articles) and then dismissing the rest of the conference. The rest of the league is moving up. In any league you'll have a couple teams in each division that are bad, couple that are really good, and many average mid-major level teams. I think there's a lot of competition in the West. FIU's potential had been written about for a while as preseason sleepers many years running. They've had some talented rosters with coaches not able to fully take advantage. It's all about maintaining consistency. MTSU and WKU were beating P5s for a stint, but have not been able to regain that level of play. FAU disappeared. It remains to be seen what happens to UAB and North Texas. As long as the league has good ADs hiring good coaches, we'll garner attention regardless of the league's administrative competency.
  13. Was there a flag on a late hit in that first highlight? Dude launched himself after the Fine pass.
  14. Here's a short article I wrote for CUSA Report way back in August that kind of covers (from a 30k foot perspective) what has been making us sad lately: parity in this league. It sucks we are not going to make a repeat championship appearance. But it also speaks to how competitive this league has become, compared to how top heavy it was just a few years ago. As a whole, that is good for the league when we get lots of attention. The focused effort by C-USA schools on bringing in coaching talent has paid dividends throughout the league. All new coaches hired since 2016 made a bowl appearance in their first year (we are counting UAB’s Bill Clark’s Return Year as a Year One because of the circumstances). “In this conference you better be ready to play. First of all, there’s excellent coaches,” FIU’s Butch Davis said when asked about the influx of new coaches. “The competitiveness: they recruit well, there’s a lot of talent…if you don’t show up and you’re not prepared to play on Saturday, you’re going to get your butt beat.” https://cusareport.com/2018/08/10/rebuilding-conference-usa/
  15. I get you but their run game has been more established than ours. During the Mac years we had a great set of linemen there but we were left scrambling in that department due to attrition, graduation, and bad recruiting. But there's only so much we can blame there given that they've had plenty of time since then. This is why I was concerned they were trying so hard to keep Mayfield one more year.
  16. I think one of the factors could be identity. I feel like it's an established identity with LT and UAB. We are a passing team so we easily grab receivers. They run well, and so they've got good trenches. Just trying to logic my way through this one in my head.
  17. And what, let cinnamon take over? Scoff.
  18. While we're at it, why is it that the people think the McRib is a good sammich? It is not a good sammich I tell you. I'd rather eat a burger that gives me nightmares.
  19. Re: Denton events vs Football games The day of the dead fest will pull in fans from in and around the area because it's fun and a good time. Same can be said about football. Is Day of the Dead going to pull 10k fans away from Apogee? Nah. Is football still in a precarious attendance state? Yes. It's not a unique situation, even though our own attendance has been trending up. One won't affect another in a city of over 180K people. But it really won't affect football once football is a consistent big-producing machine. Rice will bring fans and homecoming will bring students. A team like Houston (next year?) will bring even more fans and is a more worthwhile event to a person on the fence.
  20. Running a west coast pass offense with a power run game has been tough on Rice this season. It's a big transition, and I think their recruiting class next year will be key to fill some needs for that offense. He can definitely sell the Christian McCaffrey/Bryce Love card to backs that want the ball.
  21. I missed any and all conversation regarding this, but to answer your question I did a quick and dirty looking at play by play 1st half: 14:38 2nd half: 9:55
  22. If you're leaving from the alumni side, it's near the same distance
  23. Started with the end of the Dickey run, and trudged through the highs and lowest of lows through Dodge and McCarney. We have a expectations now, and that's what big boy programs do. We expected UNT to beat LaTech to take control of the division. We didn't and so relied on UAB to take some of that control away from LaTech. We expected UNT to beat UAB in what was the game to decide the division. We didn't and we're out of the championship running. The expectation now is bowl games are automatic and we have to shoot for the championship. It's okay - nay, fantastic - that we can now say we're disappointed with only going to a bowl. We don't have to say "well back in 2015..." cause eff that. We are this team now. We are not 2015. We should win when it needs to happen AGAINST CONFERENCE USA level talent
  24. The Frisco Farmer's Market is just meh, y'all. Denton market is where it's at.
