  1. Hey some of us can't grow beards. They're more like...chin pubes.
  2. #HotBeardOpinions goings on
  3. He definitely doesn't fit the mold of a WR, but he's got enough speed for a receiving TE, that he can at least exploit zone for a mismatch against a LB, or use his size for some short yardage play. He's no Jordan Reed-type, but maybe over time he can develop into a Owen Daniels or Dennis Pitta type. Good route running, beat-linebacker speed, and great hands. Some wiggle, just not all the waggle. This all based on hope, though.
  4. I hope Ivery gets special plays named after him. I am excited (in the hope that) he sees an expanded receiver role. You don't see Dillman as a big bodied receiver? He's got some speed and ability. Not to mention strength. But I feel he might be a little stiff for a DE or OL role. Your thoughts? I wasn't as big of a Rico fan as others, but I'm slowly warming up. Mainly due to realizing how much opportunity he'll actually have. I hope Hair-Griffin can make an impact right out of the gate.
  5. I know it's a beating to rehash this. RV is in charge of getting water in the bucket. It's his well. RV was in charge of hiring Dodge. Mac. Now Littrell. RV is in charge of finding that special coach. I want RV to succeed. I really do. Because that would mean a successful UNT Football program. We are at the bottom, and RV is in charge of bringing us back from the darkness. It's his program. Hopefully he's done it with Littrell.
  6. In an air raid, do we see lots of subbing from the receivers for breathers?
  7. If we're being picky? Not Cody Spencer. Not Patrick Cobbs. Not Awasom. Not Kassell. Recruited before he got here. Everyone else sure. He hasn't had a player drafted or invited to the combine. The program is the reflection of him. Those that work for him is a reflection on him. He is the Athletic Director. He is the one that takes responsibility for the success or failures of his program. Beautiful new stadjum? Heck yeah take credit for it. 3 failing major sports programs? He must take credit for that too. It's his responsibility to improve the programs. Why? Because he's the Athletic Director. It's his job. It's his job.
  8. It's not like Littrell never calls plays without an inline TE or two, or an hback or a blocking rb, etc. He'll call a jumbo package or single wing at the goal line, or an inline tight end that releases. I mean Harrell, will, of course. It's all situational, which is what we failed at the past several seasons: Dialing up the appropriate plays in the right situation. Eg, a screen pass with one or two blockers for Jimmy on 3rd and 12 vs SMU.
  9. I recognize many of those as McCarney offers. But this one confused me for a second. This Sam Miller (Stratford) is not to be confused with Sam Miller (Canton). Sorry to reopen any old wounds, but in case it confused anyone else http://247sports.com/Player/Sam-Miller-55092
  10. I know everyone's going with the oh here we go attitude but RV is in charge of hiring the people that do the recruiting and coaching. If we keep having to fire and hire people in charge of the recruiting and coaching, who do we blame? If I keep having to fire all three of my employees because they're bad at what they do, and it costs my department over THREE MILLION DOLLARS should I be in charge of doing this anymore (even if I did make some bad ass maps, and I got the department a shiny new 60 inch plotter)?
  11. I mean it's a kick to the giblets to read about it so much, but it is the only point of reference we have. We have sucked. For a while. And getting in a CUSA-level QB here should be #1 on everyone's list, otherwise we can just shut this down for another year. It was the story this offseason bc we need one, and it was the story last offseason and it wasn't properly addressed (with a HS quarterback). And it was an issue before that because we had unknowns. And it was an issue before that because a senior was getting beat out by a freshman. etc etc
  12. It's the last time we won anything. It's our last point of reference. What else do we have? The Dickey run? There are kids getting a driving permit that were born when that run started. It's a reminder that things need to change.
  13. From 2009-2014 we've had a guy ranked in the top 100 in terms of QB rating. In 2015 we had none. As low as 100 (McNulty, 2014), and as high as 46 (Dodge, 2010). Others have been Vizza and Thompson, scattered between 90th and 60ish. Point I'm getting to is, it shouldn't be so hard to get a decent QB here, but the McCarney staff made it so. I think this change in staff can bring in the talent necessary where QB will no longer be a glaring need. Where we're not using the excuse, if only we had the right QB. Hopefully the focus will shift onto other needs, BECAUSE I'M LE TIRED.
  14. Or you lose an entire recruiting class
  15. Sometimes, when no one is looking...I don't use my blinker when I change lanes...
  16. If we had signed a full class (rankings are a cumulative score), we would be ranked in the 70-80s based on our per-player impact. But we couldn't, due to some mysterious McCarneyisms. 2017 is the year we can get a fair assessment, especially at QB.
  17. The #UNTouchable Twitter account is doing what the MeanGreenFB account should have been doing for years. Littrell is forcing the folks around him to step up their game. #BabySteps
  18. Anyone into scotch? I'm fairly new and learning. Been trying different things, including the standard stuff (Laphroaig, Yamazaki, Glenlivet, Glenfiddich, Macallan's, Glenmorangie, The Balvenie). Ended up at Total Wine the other day, got overwhelmed, panicked, and got The Balvenie 12 yr Doublewood. So much liquor in there. Any recommendations? Laphroaig was my first scotch, and it has made it way easier to drink other scotches. Working my way up to it.
  19. When the liquor store is out of Blanton's (which is all the time) EH Taylor is my fallback.
  20. Colonel EH Taylor is SO good and cool bottle
  21. I fancy buffalo trace over the TX whiskey. It is a different kind of sweet, and not as sweet imo. Vanilla, brown sugar. Cinnamon? A little bit of spice.
  22. Yes. That o-line got manhandled, and the inexperience and lack of a #1 guy at WR really did them in. Those young WRs weren't getting open in time, or at all. Add on that Stewart's injury bug, and no RB stepping up. Most comfortable 6 point lead I'd ever seen. Have you ever watched a Peyton Manning super bowl...? I'd be nervous calling plays for him too.
