Is Denton in Decline?
Aldo replied to Side Show Joe's topic in The Eagles Nest (There Should be Pie For Everyone Forum)
I wouldn't say Denton is in the decline. I moved here in '04 and like @UNTLifer mentioned, they have always been awful since I've been here. Txdot is finally catching up with growth and building up 35, and then the 380 project also sprung up. I don't go around the souf side too much, but they seem to be doing a lot of construction down there too (2499 is awesome). At least they are looking to fix roads, so I won't call that decline. Except for hickory. Hickory between campus and the square sucks. As far as crime goes, there has been a sad string for random incidents over the past 12 months, especially off Mckinney St. But the whole town has been growing, more business is coming through, homes are being built and sold left and right, schools are getting built. And there's bbq and beer. -

Still better than ours, but you got my point about SMU's approach: -
MGB: Three games that will be vital to UNT's season

Et tu, 90? But seriously, I know everyone wants us to be bowl eligible this year. I would certainly love that, and I'll definitely be talking smack and cheering for wins on Twitter, etc. I know we talk about setting high expectations because A) we should and ii) we need to act like a big school, but we have been put back at square one. We literally have to crawl up from the bottom, behind about 100 or so FCS and Div-II, etc, schools. We need to start somewhere and we need to take it one week at a time (and other Belichickian phrases). Asking Littrell to be bowl eligible Year 1 will set him and us up for failure. But I'll be rah rah-ing just the same with 1 win or 15. The only thing we can gauge this year is the difference in coaching, and any freshmen that get play time. I'll say it again: I'm just gonna have fun watching Air Littrell (so fetch!) this year. I'll set no expectations on the team and I'm just going to watch the kids ball out. -

Losing a lot works for SMU. I'm here all week, y'all. -

Winning a road game would be huge. Winning an OOC road game would be more huger. #Spoiled -
Want to go, still unsure. Last I checked airline prices a couple weeks ago, they were at about $117 round trip.

As I was digging around about college rankings in a discussion, I stumbled across this article. Puts Alec as the favorite here and ranked as 107 out of 128, ahead of several of our peers (in terms of QB situation). That perception jump from dead last to over 20 spots ahead is a decent boost. Now let's take the upward momentum and actually do something. *Insert Princess Leia hope hologram gif* I'll go on record as saying I don't think we win a whole lot in 2016, but I sure hope we see a lot of fun football games playing Air Littrell . http://athlonsports.com/college-football/college-footballs-pre-spring-1-128-starting-quarterback-rankings-2016

For us to win 6 games, we need to beat 6 teams better than us. We are the 2nd worst football team only ahead of UCF. That puts everyone (again, idk about BC) on our schedule as better. -

For us to beat 3 programs next year, would mean that we beat 3 programs that are currently better than us (might be a stretch to include BC). It's a step in the right direction, but baby football yeezy I want to win more than 3 games. -
I like a lot of Nike's classic designs. Addidas may be too modern or Arena-y for some (though I don't dislike it). I do like Arizona State's. Very simple. On a separate note, it would be cool to incorporate the North Texas tartan on the sleeves or as the helmet stripe (too UNC?)

That's one expensive ribbon. I wonder how much it would go for on ebay...

I don't know but I'd think no? The college playoffs have a playoff revenue pool where each conference gets X amount of money http://www.statisticbrain.com/college-bowl-game-payouts/ If a team gets $500K to go to the New Orleans bowl, it at least pays for the trip. Like I said, it's at least a trip for the players, which I am sure they would not turn down. Think of the children!

I'll take the money. I'm sure the kids wouldn't mind a trip either.

This statement leads me to two thoughts: 1) I am curious as to what they are doing differently that is driving up the cost of attendance, and B) I feel sorry that club owners are having to foot the bill for the lack of activity in the lower bowl (which is, I assume, a reason that we aren't keeping up with costs). I mean, prices are "reasonable" due to supply and demand. Compare supply and demand at places like UH. I've got my tickets and damn I got some good seats (cause no one's buying any yet). It's the little things, nowadays. Edit: Oh snap a thousand posts

I feel like this and some of the Florida school offers seem like hybrid players?
