  1. @aztecskin always gets me riled up when predictions roll around
  2. I've written and deleted 10 different things. I think this group needs time. I am think year 2/year 3 of Ruder (completely assuming he's the guy going forward) is when things really start to get going on offense.
  3. If we don't get 4 INTs and fumble recoveries I am going to be counting turnover on downs don't @ me
  4. I always leaned toward Bean over Aune. Now, I just hope Aune has improved his ball placement. Fine's % was partly in due to his Romo-esque run-around and throw it up style early on. Aune sometimes struggled to put it within reach on a screen or a hitch. If I see the same struggles this weekend I am gonna need to speak to a manager.
  5. I can feel the hair flip from here lol Also that backfield is stacked
  6. I am here for the positivity @BillySee58. My view is that it can't get any worse. I do agree that experience is important, but like others have said (maybe 1 I kinda skimmed) is that Bennett has proven he can turn really really bad defenses around within a few seasons. I've been on hiatus because of life, but now... FOOTBALLLL
  7. Getting triggered by "offense hasn't been the same" comments but I will stay in my lane. My top 25 offense lane. When it comes to questions about QB competition, and Ruder's ability to take the helm, we have to remember that the floor is Aune. And that's a pretty good floor. A full season of Aune or Bean would have had some great passing stats in the league. If Ruder can do better than that, then damn sign me up. Full disclosure: I'm fully on board the Pioneer Football Player train, but let the best man win.
  8. May have to wait a little while. He had one under the "Coach Bennett ASU" handle. Surely North Texas will get him a new one if he can't remember his password.
  9. Of all the losses we've had, this one hits the hardest. It's a QB with stats, for goodness sake. As frustrating as it looked at times, that QB tandem was good, and we were lucky we could flip back and forth between Aune and Bean. Having unknowns behind Aune isn't ideal (from a fan perspective who doesn't know what we have coming in). Maybe one of the newbies is great? I hope so, but it's not something we can count on. But I REALLY hope so. If y'all didn't like his attitude, then go and keep a Kason Martin dancing b-roll on standby for any time you feel a little offended. There's only so much scattershootin' on the field my little football heart can take.
  10. Yeah sure I've never seen women pose like that in pictures before *deletes internet*
  11. Let's see that one more time...
  12. HEEL TURN! UNT fans be like #lockthegate! Littrell be like what's that sound? i can't hear it over my awesome bro-ness
  13. What's the first offensive play of the game? I said option given to Adaway to the left ETA: for 8 yards. Whoever says false start first I swear...
  14. Oh hey nice site! 🙂
  15. Oh i thought we were recording in pods
  16. I think the article covers some of it, but yeah there's always guys that will get lost on any given play. The hope is that there will be reduced complexity. A big part of it is maturity and we're rolling out some young guys. Talented, but young. The last DC ran a similar system and ran lots of pass rushes and blitz. I am not as good talking defense, but you can use your OLB as a 4th lineman to purely pass rush, or a rover. We used to blitz with the corners often too. We probably went with a vanilla base just to get our ducks in a row, and not show too much before SMU. Just think of it has having 1 or 2 specialized players on the field (smaller OLB/hybrid safety/safety) that can either purely pass rush, rush or be run support, or defend against the pass (and yes maybe rush).

    SMU

Not going to lie but those SMU helmets are sick and I hate myself
  18. aka we don't have the big boys, we use hybrid guys to run a hybrid defense. You can also sometimes think of a 3-3-5 as a 3-5-3. Disguise and use specific personnel groupings with hybrid players. Sometimes can also think of one of the LBs as a DL because that's where they'll live depending on the play. Easy to blitz from, disguise the gaps, and can defend against the run or against the spread, or even the spread option. Lots of options. @aztecskin covers a bit of it here: https://meangreennation.com/north-texas-begins-the-pandemic-season-with-questions-2020-mgn-season-preview/
