  1. Well one those peckers has had 21 years to grow. So if you are a 21 year old comparing the size of your pecker to a 7 year old's well..... (I am not counting the other 80 years plus of football history to save some embarrassment)
  2. All very nice but a the end of the day this program isn't winning, it isn't even mediocre. Every G5 level program has challenges and many do not have the resources, and history UNT has. When RV arrived UNT was (with all the challenges) was in the middle of a 4 year conference championship run. Nothing close has happened since. We have a had sustain run of garbage with one magical year. I fear that once these donor have finally had enough the program will be way too far gone to ever be an upper level G5 program. We revenue going down they may not have the money to hire a coach talented enough to reverse the course of the program. I am amazed that Seth was interested in the position. If I were in his position I would have waited for another opportunity. The facilities are better you have a stadium that holds 30k so you can't attract out of conference opponents fans want to see. So you don't sellout the 30k and potential attractive opponents look at those numbers and say no thank you to a home and home series. At this point I think the whole endeavor is not worth me sacrificing my $500 to $ 1,000 for season tickets.
  3. Excuses, wow. If this team is struggling in the second year of Seth's tenure I hope you are just as easy on the Seth and the players Yep, UNT90 the most uninspiring attitude is displayed here. We shouldn't schedule tough opponents to come to Apogee cause we will be underdogs? WTH is that and why as a recruit would I want to come play for fans and a student body that doesn't believe in their team?
  4. Wyoming would be an interesting first time match up but it would help our program's positive visibility much if we won Central Florida only in a year we aren't playing FIU or FAU South Florida we are 0-2 verses them ECU lost to them in 1979 however I think most UNT fans were disappointed when it was confirmed ECU was leaving CUSA before we got in. California is definitely my favorite for your suggestions. A big "state" school you might be able to get into Apogee. New Mexico (0-2 verses) kind of a meh since we have played New Mexico State so many times.
  5. It isn't twisting the point if it is true. Using your argument about market share in this argument makes no sense. You can't twist an argument if it isn't true. UT owns a larger market share in Denton also. So even if you brought UT to Apogee it would neutral site game at best. The ticket prices would be jacked for the game and many UNT season ticket holders would sell their seats to UT fans. And you know that is truth. Hell even for he KSU game if I am not mistaken we (season ticket holders) had to pay a higher price for that home game compare to the rest of the season. I have no agenda other that for UNT to do something different that might be beneficial. The fact of the matter is most people aren't interested in games against upstart FBS level teams which comprise most of UNT's home schedule most years.
  6. You have never once seen me complain about UNT playing strong teams. However an annual beat down game at Austin, Norman, Baton Rouge, Fayetteville, or College Station doesn't make sense. I didn't mind the game at iowa. First ever matches are interesting to me no matter what the betting line is. Interesting thoughts @GrayEagle. I like a West Virginia match up. However we are 0-3 against Kansas. You are right South Carolina is the only SEC team we haven't played.
  7. Not, I can I assure that I am very real and transparent. My picture is real and name. I don't have internet muscles. And I am not suggesting that UNT90 or anyone else here does. I think UNT90 and I share the same frustrations with small minded UNT fans. We speak the uncomfortable truths that UNT fans and alumni don't want to acknowledge. I wish we were wrong and hope dearly that someday we are proved to be wrong because that would me the program is doing well. The truth is that this garbage isn't working and using every excuse in the book not to try to do something different is insane in my humble opinion. The university deserves to have a better program than this if they are going to continue to play at the FBS level. Fifteen more years of this garbage, I think drop down to FCS or dropping the program all together would be the most humane thing to do UNT90 have you ever been on the Barbershop podcast? I think we both should be invited next season to end this BS "we are the same person"? Every negative/honest poster on this forum must be one person dedicated to getting rid RV. If you helps the Kool Aide drinking masses I will remove my tagline from all future post. But back to the original point. You can't win big money games, if you never schedule them. And you have a lessor chance of winning them if you always play them on their campus. An AT&T game should NOT be an every year thing and let the record reflect I would much prefer Apogee if possible or Cotton Bowl Stadium(during the State Fair). Turning down a big money game at AT&T or Cotton Bowl makes as much sense as turning down a bowl game. Using that logic if we had gotten a Big 10 team in the Heart of Dallas Bowl we should turned it down because we would have lost most likely, concessions money allocation, and parking is inconvenient? WTF?
  8. Still wrong regardless Utah over Michigan 2008 in Arbor Michigan
  9. Boise State over Virgina Tech in Landover Maryland 2010
  10. You changed the argument. But I will entertain. TCU 20 over Oklahoma 7 1996 in Norman
  11. TCU and to lessor extent Boise State.
  12. Now we get to the heart of why UNT is exactly were it deserves to be. Small dreams produce small results. And there is no guarantee the score would be 50-0 especially since Georgia is breaking in a new coach this year. That is the great thing about playing a game you might catch powerhouse in the midst of a rebuild. Maybe because a DFW recruit came to a game vs one of the big boys at AT&T stadium has second thoughts about sitting on the bench at Big 12 school because he saw UNT had a real program in a somewhat competitive game.
  13. We ran undefeated in Sun Belt 4 straight years and exactly where did it get us? Hoping that coach number 3 since then can win the CUSA West division. If you are beating teams nobody has heard of it doesn't make a difference unless you go undefeated or have just 1 loss.
  14. Well I hope you are very comfortable at 1/3 empty (or more) stadium. They aren't coming here at all, it doesn't make business sense for them. And there are plenty of other G5 programs with bigger stadiums that they have sold out that will be selected over UNT every time.
  15. Other than the NCAA changing the rules, these kinds of contracts aren't going away. But let us forget about Rice what do you think UNT should do with the current reality? No team capable of generating a guaranteed sellout is coming to 30K Apogee Stadium. You want more FCS teams, Sun Belt Teams or what? Part of the consideration going into making a schedule for a G5 team is being able to show recruits that you will get on the big stage every year to play one of the big boys. We played Georgia in Athens and it did nothing but generate a paycheck for the program. You wouldn't want to go the Cotton Bowl or AT&T Stadium next year to watch UNT play Georgia? I don't understand that. At least in the DFW area local recruits get to see your program on a big stage at a neutral field. Can you even list the P5 school that have came to Denton without generating 30,000 ticket sales? I can name a few. Texas Tech, Kansas State, and Oregon State
  16. So is your argument that Rice should not play UT Austin? I don't think UNT "owns" the DENTON market or even the UNT campus market because even though I think its gotten a little better since 2000. Back in the 1990s there was a 50/50 split between UNT gear and other school's gear on campus. The stadium is smaller than the student enrollment and faculty, yet NO SELLOUTS. Hell if you could just get every Denton resident to just one of the six home game a year you would have 20,000+ at every game. So whatever has been done in Denton for Apogee to this point IS NOT WORKING. I would love for big time P5 team to come to Apogee but why would they? It doesn't make good business sense for them. Of course you could jack up prices for all the tickets in the stadium not reserved for students to $200 and over. And then watch the opposing fans take over the stadium
  17. If this is the 60th anniversary of the Texas College Football color barrier being broken: UNT MUST use this an opportunity to announce some substantial athletic building honoring Coach Mitchell. The fact that this is not well known except to Mean Green fans is simply unacceptable. I think part of the reason that UNT football got "black balled" back in the day was due to our University's forward thinking. And we are still suffering some of those repercussion of being "black balled" back then today. I have heard our series with one of the Mississippi schools was ended due to this also.
  18. In another discussion we are debating out of conference opponents. Everyone whats to get a good P5 team to come to Apogee. However it got me to thinking; What teams that we have never played before would you want UNT to play regardless of location? My top 5 are below. What are yours? 1. Michigan 2. USC 3. Notre Dame 4. Oregon 5. Ohio State
  19. When it comes to scheduling, I really don't understand a lot of you guys on gmg.com. I think most of you are quite naive. "Not wanting Texas Tech" "Not wanting a game during State Fair during the Cotton Bowl doesn't work" (something UNT has not tried). What constitute "not working"? If you want to use the games at Texas Stadium in Irvin as a template that is just wrong. First those games were a generation ago at a stadium virtually impossible to get to with public transit at the time. Ideally I would not want us playing at AT&T stadium for the same reasons. However, for the right program outside the state of Texas I think we should consider it. Especially if we could get that same team in Apogee 2 or 3 years later. At this point whatever the leadership can do besides selling seats for $5 to get a sellout should be on the table. We are not getting a 2-1 deal with any of the big boy P5 teams as long as we have stadium that seats less than 40,000 and has NEVER had a sellout.
  20. I believe UT is out of the question for either Apogee or AT&T. It doesn't make sense for UT in any way. They have the exposure in this market. They make just as much money from a home game against also any G5 opponent that is in a 6 hour driving distance from Austin. UNT should be targeting P5 opponent that might be wiling to play at AT&T (or maybe Apogee if they are slightly lower profile P5 teams) Teams that have lost a little relevance in the state of Texas or DFW area recently should be the top targets. I am including several programs that aren't highly visible in the DFW regularly also. I am putting an asterisk by the teams that UNT might (however slim possibility) to get in Apogee. I am listing in order of how desperate I perceive them to be in getting greater relevance in the DFW recruiting market 1. Colorado* 2. Nebraska 3. Missouri* 4. Kentucky 5. Michigan State 6. Texas A&M 7. Miss State* 8. Ole Miss 9. Michigan 10. USC For teams like Nebraska that are just borderline too "big" to play in Apogee I would suggest a modified contract. How these schools would look at this contract I don't so I welcome feedback speculation from the group. Here is the deal. A 10 year contract with 6 games at their place and 4 game in the DFW area in which a minimum of 2 would be at Apogee. With the business of college football being quite unstable right now I don't know how Ads at these programs would view a 10 game contract.
  21. When has UNT has a game at the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair? I find zero reference to that anywhere.
  22. Why should North Texas fans care? Rice is an established FBS program with a long unbroken FBS history. Apparently we can be surpassed by any upstart FBS program in the country and should not be upset according some members of gmg.com. UNT should have made one deal like this since 1995. We haven't hosted an upper tier Big 12 team in Denton or DFW area in 15 years. And Texas Tech in 2001 is not an upper tier Big 12 team and the 20,000 in attendance figure for that game should confirm that for everyone. How about thinking a little bit outside the box for ONCE? If hosting a State of Texas P5 school in AT&T stadium doesn't make sense. Then why not establish an annual rivalry game in the Cotton Bowl during the State Fair every year? You might be able peek the interest of the Houston Cougars with that. A 10 year contract minimum should be the deal. If you can't get Houston, what about UTSA, RICE, UTEP, or Texas State? Worst case we end up with what maybe ends up as nationally televised Thursday or Friday night game against Texas State. And with the game on a Friday you could have an early release day on campus and the students could ride public transit all the way to the game from campus. Call it the Heart of Texas Rivalry. Hell if you are playing Bethune -Cookman, I would much rather be at the State Fair on the Friday before Gambling vs PV and the traditional PV vs Grambling battle of the bands immediately after the game.
  23. Recruiting class ranking below the P5 level is very subjective. What is more important is your team winning percentage, out of conference opponents (at home) and recently drafted players. Since they have only played at the FBS level since 2011 let us compare those seasons and 2 seasons beyond 2015 to compare scheduling. I will spare you the details but everything looks pretty even except for drafted players. I think that should be pretty disturbing since UNT has been trying to compete at the FBS level since the mid 1990s. So uttering "Well at least Texas State isn't kicking our ass at BLANK" should make you want to vomit.
  24. I don't understand why this topic became a rehash of RV lack luster job performance. The fact that UTSA has an invite and not UNT should make every UNT far on gmg.com boiling mad. The fact is there are very few players on this team with P5 starting level talent so why would they be invited to the NFL combine? Coach Mac praised the senior TE we had on the roster last year but they weren't invited to the combine either. I don't know off hand but I would suspect they weren't invited to the Senior Bowl either. That speaks volumes about Mac's talent appraisal and coaching development of his players. I am kind of disappointed that the new offense will phasing out the TE position. I believe those players around that size are often undervalued and you can find diamonds in the ruff by recruiting them. They can be switched back forth between DE and TE. The question is now do any of you see the NFL Combine/Senior Bowl UNT player invite drought ending in 2017? If who would do you think is the most likely to do it?
  25. Good luck to Greer in his post UNT career. I hope he graduates and does well in whatever he choses to do. He had all the physical attributes you would want in a G5 FBS QB but only potential. And potential is a coach killer. Why this guy ever got even half the game snaps he got I will never know. Did this guy look like Aaron Rogers in practice? That is only way I could see him getting any game snaps this year. It really bad when you praying for the coaches not to call a pass to prevent a pick 6 but it happens anyway. With good to great QB play next year bowl eligibility is not out of the question next year. But with Andrew and DeMarcus getting so many snaps last year it was hard to really evaluate the wide receivers. I am surprised another receiver or two are not on this list. And even the one that is listed may come back. So effectively they don't have a definitive WR departure. Does anyone think that Seth's offensive scheme is making the receivers pause before deciding to leave?
