  1. Iconic programs like Texas are lucrative jobs that rival NFL jobs. So yes no G5 program (unless sitting on a ton of money) is going to keep a hot coach from taking one of those jobs. However in my opinion (and I would suspect many coaches opinions too) a top stable G5 program that is positioned to dominate their conference for the next 3-6 years is better than trying to build a midteir P5 team to take the Blue Bloods of their conference. You are always on the hot seat with most of those programs because you can rarely beat them. And when you do beat them you fans and Alumni lose perspective and expect to beat top dog in your conference every other year. Look at Harrell. If he beats Texas this year he is safe but only until 2019. Go 0.500 in 2019 and lose to both Texas and Oklahoma and he is probably fired. Who want to deal with that drama and have to recruit to Lubbock?
  2. All predictions this early are just interested click bait. Win the conference, lose one game or less and bowls are fighting over this team with the iconic punt return. As for a match up with Colorado I would like prefer getting a team that would not sign a home and home with us under any conditions. I think a home and home with Colorado is probably the only PAC 12 home and home we could hope to get. A recruiting opportunity for Colorado in DFW area (especially now since they are no longer visiting this state regularly). Out of the Big 10 I would prefer just about any other team besides Illinois, Indiana, or Purdue. Northwestern is a slight step up. Even a shot at a barely bowl eligible Nebraska team would be preferable.
  3. I think it will be more than SMU game but just short of a sellout. I went to the ranked matchup between TCU and BYU years ago. I recalled getting cheap tickets and the game announced as a sellout but there were a handful of seats available. So I am predicting announced sellout with a few seats still available.
  4. Kick in the nuts yes. But the Mean Green is still probably playing at home for the CUSA Championship game. And coming off a tough loss they would have a chip on their shoulders to close out the season. Might be kick in the nuts for us but the worst case scenario for the East Division Champion coming to Denton.
  5. With a positive looking weather report students a going to pack the place. Wish there was a way to give the students alumni section seats Midway through the first quarter. I think I would prefer sitting on student side if it weren't for the Texas sun.
  6. This post touched upon my frustrations with local Alumni. We should be dominating CUSA 3 out of every 5 years with the resources we have in comparison to our conference foes. We should fill a 45,000 seat stadium in Denton regularly. (How much football tradition building momentum did we lose by playing home games in Texas Stadium?). Keep building the game day experience and winning.
  7. I don't have any information on CUSA's TV contracts so I am wondering what is possible. No offense to beIN Sports but they aren't in as many homes as other sports outlets I assume. So if we keep winning could one of our regular season games be picked up on ESPN2, Fox Sports or ESPNU that is not already slated for those networks? Also is there any possibility our bowl game appearance gets on Flagship-ESPN, Fox Sports One, or even ABC?
  8. I doubt they are going to eat that contract after one season. And if they did why would Seth go there with there lack of loyalty? Scott Frost is a Cornhusker through and through. So unless they go winless I doubt he is fired before the middle of a bad 2019 season.
  9. Only good thing about playing them year is maybe having an away game homecoming for San Antonio area UNT Alumni. Stomping them every other year down there almost guarantees that. And guaranteed conditions inside the dome.
  10. Not concerned with any program too chicken bleep accept a home and home with Ohio State or let alone the only public University in the DFW area with a FBS program. Keep refusing to compete and you will lose your mythical DFW area FBS throne.
  11. Great win for CUSA and its eventual champion this year hopefully us!
  12. Yes, and that is the thing I like the least about college football. A lot of Champions have been bogus in my opinion. If only the NCAA forced round robin home and home out of conference games. If any two FBS programs have been playing at this level for 40 years they should have played each other twice if not more. ODU is probably the best winless team in the country now.
  13. Available seats dwidling in theatre 7. This is great. Win this game Mean Green and we are looking at a near sellout for La Tech game if whether is good.
  14. That's awesome. And if the Mean Green are undefeated still by then and ranked many will join you. This game could be huge for local media coverage. The Ticket Hardline might do a remote at the stadium. Any other year this cable channel and time slot would be a slight downer.
  15. Hey anyone have the website for Oak Street? I already bought a ticket for Alamo Drafthouse but I am curious. I rarely stick around Denton after home games.
  16. Yep going to Texas Tech is thinking small. Going to a place where you are at a disadvantage to you main conference rivals is not a good move. If you are a hot commodity you should wait for offers at better program. Also the Big 12 Conference is the P5 at risk of dissolving. It is not out the question that North Texas ends up in a conference with Big 12 leftovers including the likes of Texas Tech, Baylor and TCU. Lubbock is not a great place to recruit to. Georgia Tech is intriguing and I wouldn't mind Seth leaving for that job. UNC is a basketball school and will be forever. If your goal as a coach is to win a national championship UNC is one of the hard places to do it at.
  17. @JesseMartinHopefully you are right. And we need to start selling out Apogee to make sure Athletic Department can keep Seth and most of his staff in place. Too many local alumni are quick to spend 4 times the money on the medocre Cowboys.
  18. To all those so quick to believe that Seth will leave for head coaching job at Texas Tech or Kansas State, I want you to know the facts why that should not be a given. 1. UNT Enrollment numbers are slightly higher than both schools 2. UNT is in the middle of the hot recruiting areas in the country 3. If just our local alumni gets to a 25% active engagement rate Apogee would be sold out regularly. (I believe DFW area alumni is over 200,000) If Blue Blood premier P5 programs like Texas, OU, USC, Michigan, or Nebraska come calling. Seth leaving would be very understandable. However there is no reason except lack of Alumni support. The numbers are here. Apogee was designed to easily expandable. The money and potential is here to keep Seth here away from the likes of KSU, Texas Tech, or other mid-level or door-mat P5 programs. Wonder if Chad Morris is thinking to himself this evening "maybe staying at SMU till a P5 program that wasn't in total disarray was the the better move"? My perspective is that I will be very disappointed if Seth leaves for anything less than a HC job at one of the historically top notch P5 programs. I don't want to see him leave for the likes Baylor, KSU, Kansas, Vanderbilt, Kentucky, Indiana, Illinois, or Oregon State.
  19. I'm up for it.
  20. Anyone watching the game at a sports bar south of Denton County shoot me a text 817-500-3146
  21. To all the naysayers citing money. You can use some same financial/marketing logic to keep a Mean Green team at home for bowl season if we don't our division or Conference.
  22. I just want our name or logo on this graphic come Halloween and after. Maybe get a midseason showdown with a CUSA for on national TV.
  23. Supports? Ummmm that would be no. Tolerates most of the time 😂
  24. Great question that I haven't seen the answer 2. That is a very good point. Playing Arkansas is a showcase event. Who knows what future athletic propect or just really smart student will be in the stands gameday. I think good showing at these games are just as important long term as most bowl games we have a legitimate shot to go to without being the highest rating G5 conference champion. I am usually the ask where is the money going to come from. Drex provided a legitimate answer. I think it should be a no brainier when we are playing one of the few out of state P5 programs that are in driving distance. When we play in Arkansas, or Norman, OK we should bring the band. Maybe cut it down to 300 to save some money. Now going to Baton Rouge (LSU) might be too long a trip. Plus they like to play in the evening.
  25. Heart say 45 UNT 37 Arkansas Head 43 Arkansas 27 UNT
