  1. I respect that. And to be clear my academic donations aren’t affected by what I contribute to the athletic fund. And I stand by what I posted. The on the field performance on average since stepping back up to FBS has been embarrassing with a lot of bad decisions. I couldn’t give away my extra season tickets most games even when offered to alumni who are football fans. To each their own but when fans of upstart programs like UTSA and Charlotte can clown us that is embarrassing. Yes the mighty (we’ve been playing football since 2013) Charolette 49ers is 2-0 vs North Texas coached by Seth. Anyone trying to sell us the value of bringing Seth back is trying to sell ice to eskimos. This is going into year 7 not year 4. Oh, and UTSA? Yes we ended their perfect season but have we ever been 9-0? (We certainly haven’t since 1995) I don’t think a single fan wouldn’t like to reverse this season scenario go 11-0 drop the 12th game to UTSA host and win in the CUSA championship game.
  2. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Just summaries Seth has done less with more?
  3. I don’t doubt that. But why are the donations at the bottom? Answer: Because of 30 years of bad decisions other than stepping back up to the FBS level. 1. Move up to FBS without upgrading Fouts Field significantly on just building a new stadium then. 2. The only serious Head Coaching hires they made were Dickey, McCarney, and Seth The McCarney was a makeup hire for a laughable hiring decision. None of the other coaches they hired had the resume and/or brought a supporting staff with them qualified for coaching FBS level Football. 3. In the past 36 years donor have watched other programs start programs from scratch (FAU, UTSA, FIU) and either keep pace with us or far exceed us in on the field accomplishments in their short existence. Also teams like UAB, Liberty and ODU restarted FBS programs and outperformed us. So in 2022 with all that bad equity built up you can’t offer up ANY relevant excuses. I am one of those few donors. So they can play this wait and save game if they want to. But if they swing and Miss on the next hire allowing Seth to coach 2022 they will lose another longtime donor and I won’t be back. And it would be hard for me to understand why anyone not worth millions would dump significant money into the program. Because…. This ineptitude is embarrassing to alumni if you publicly claim you are serious about winning.
  4. Congrats to those players. In general life as a G5 football student athlete is hard. In addition to having all the regular life challenges we all face academics and football is hard. However I wouldn’t classify any challenge they face particularly unique compared to other teams. Injuries are a part of the game. And in their case the injuries at RB and WR positions they received they had the most depth at. The defense was adequate most of the year and our offense just made them look worse than they actually were imo. There will challenges on and off the field every season. That is why there are no team participation awards at the end the year. Academic excellence and on the field excellence is rewarded. This season wasn’t good and definitely wasn’t excellent. Here is a hardy pat on the back for trying hard. (My Condolences to the family of the signee who never got on campus. I think it was a little bush league to mention his death as adversity to this team.). I hope all the young men grew as better people during this season. And maybe that win streak is emblematic of that. But assuming that is was is disrespectful to every team that had a losing streak to end the season. Many in spite of all the hard work you put in a more talented or better coach team beats you. Summary: Let these young men who spent a lot time, energy and pain trying to represent our University as best they could have their reflective moments on social media and stop putting it under a microscope. (They get less than 10% of local Alumni to support them. So if they aren’t doing anything negative I just want to thank them.)
  5. Seems like the past only counts when it comes to say what North Texas can’t do today or when they are trying to convince others to be content with mediocrity.
  6. Don’t get your hopes up. If a big staff is made I would be very surprised.
  7. Exactly! And let us stop talking about raised expectations when it comes to bowl games. We had 2 legitimate bowl game appearances under Seth. When you have a losing record against FBS competition but get into a bowl game that is meaningless especially when you get blown out in the bowl game validating your team is below mediocre. Given the resources here Seth was just adequate. If this were the early 2000s in with our facilities back then and more limited opportunities to make a bowl game then yes his performance would have raised expectations just like Dickey did. So we all need to stop overblowing Seth’s very limited success here like the AD did when those extensions were signed.
  8. I think you are making it way more complicated than it is. A head coach importance is huge but it isn’t bigger than the institution. Pay him but never over commit to him because he can ALWAYS leave. I didn’t approve of the extension at the time because at NO PART in his tenure was he best coach in the conference. So if he wants to leave even after a modest raise wish him luck. It is always financially better to have a coach get hired away than paying him not to be your head coach anymore. Until we get to a P5 level in revenue a coach getting money whipped to leave is a natural part of the program’s long term success.
  9. Miami was one play away from going to the MAC championship game. Without our game MAC is 0-4 in bowl games so far. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  10. Coaches at FAU, UTSA, and UAB have come accomplished more at those programs and left those programs during Seth tenure. Hell UAB restarted and now better than us in the standings consistently since Seth was hired.
  11. Agreed but I feel like I am on Let’s Make a Deal. Revealed behind curtain number one is a jackass so go home now with a jackass or take whatever is in the weathered Mystery box (Phil Bennett) . So I will take whatever is in the mystery box. Hell Todd Dodge with a new OC, QB Coach and retaining Phil Bennett is a deal I would take now. 🤣😂🤣😂. It would be a horrible marketing move but of jokes on ESPN and talking head shows every time the program is brought up but if he wins all would be forgiven.
  12. This and this coach is going in to year 7 not year 3. 6-6 is not a wining season. He entered this season with 3 losing season abs 2 winning seasons. There is no reason for optimism that Seth will lead this team to program altering success in 2022 or beyond and a victory over Miami of Ohio would NOT have change that. Maybe more hope for an ABOVE 0.500 season but 9 wins would be a foolishly higher expectation. And It wouldn’t help recruiting. Local recruits going that far away to play FBS football probably aren’t that highly rated unless they have family ties in MAC Terriotry. Casual fans don’t even know Miami Ohio’s mascot let alone football history. That AND a lot of fans would have to use vacation time to attend and/or change holiday plans, 15k was the Best we could hoped for.
  13. Oh my Goodness Yes, and I said this at the time. If your program collapses after a Head Coach leaves for a higher paying job in a higher conference your program isn’t that good and your AD should receive some scrutiny. If he was sitting on 2 division titles, a conference title and a bowl win then okay give him a extension and a raise.
  14. I get you but that is that program’s market position here. That is huge part of the reason we can’t afford to hold on to a mediocre coach. Until we get to that 6% number in this market the arrow needs to be pointed up in on the field production. Minimally we need 4 straight winning season to produce a couple of graduating classes of diehard fans/alumni and get to that 6%. I took classes here during the last part of Dickey’s Sun Belt run. After the military I came back graduated in 2008. I don’t think I am an engaged alumni/fan today if I didn’t experience part of Dickey’s run. I also spent time at Fort Riley down the road from KSU and got to see modest program’s growth with a great coach. I just see so much wasted potential here I can’t get mad at the apathy. I think it is earned.
  15. Understandable because the stadium was still brand new and McCarney came in with a lot of passion as a legitimate FBS level coach. I think he really believed we could be what the Cincinnati Bearcats are today with the right moves back then. (I did/do also so that what makes me all the more upset when people try to sell bringing Seth back). His goals were beyond selling out Apogee to getting it capacity expanded. The a new practice facility was on the horizon. There was just more to look forward to then. I am not going to try to sell you Seth 2022, but please at least come to one game or two. Even if it is to chant “Seth Must Go” while SMU is Pummeling us. More Apathy is the worst thing we can have right now.
  16. 6-6 playing another mediocre 6-6 team from probably the worse FBS conference. We have a hard time getting over 20k for conference home games, with cheaper tickets, that don’t require people to take the day off to attend. So your bleeding green heart says that 20k is reasonable but logically given the circumstances and history here it isn’t. And with all that said, they rewarded those who attended with their 4th straight bad bowl game performance and 5th straight bowl loss. So 20k is supposed to take time off work and pay higher price and come running to see a mediocre at Best product? That position has no logic behind it. This program doesn’t have 20k diehard fans. We have about 10k. But on the bright side you just inspired me to make a year end donation of another $125. Hopefully I will see you in the Cabana or TD Terrace next year (the 5 year commitment for HUB Club is beyond my means) I love my school and this program but I am realistic with my attendance expectations.
  17. You clearly don’t know your teams profile outside people with direct connections to UNT. I used to have 4 season tickets. Once my immediate family stop wanting to go I couldn’t fill those seats FREE with free transportation included. I guess More than half of Denton doesn’t care about Mean Green Football. Furthermore alumni engagement is terrible. I don’t think the numbers are available but if they were what percentage of local alumni do you think go to one game a year? If it is anything above 10% I would be shocked. Until this program starts winning CONSISTENTLY expectation of selling 20k tickets for playing “off brand” teams that aren’t in our region are misguided.
  18. This deserved nothing but confirmation. But it seems some still have a problem if you recognize the emperor has no clothes (bowl wins, conference titles, or overall winning record) on. This is 6 years in we didn’t boot up this program in 2010 and as we see with several programs that is no barrier to success at the G5 level.
  19. You should not trust the Evaluation skills of the current staff. So there is nothing positive about them leaving if the same staff is selecting their replacements and coaching them up. This is another reason why keep Seth & Offensive staff in place should be a non-starter.
  20. I was pushing for him to see some PT in the bowl game so I understand the sentiment. However with all the practice experience he has he has never put it together. I just think he lacks calm under pressure mindset a QB needs. After that second interception it was the perfect time to start Ruder the second half. I think that decision among many highlights a stubborn streak that doesn’t work at G5 programs who typically don’t have a big talent gap between them and their opponents. Coaches at G5 have to make adjustments because they lack depth and sometimes they strike out recruiting a particular position. That was part of McCarney’s problem too. He is a mediocre head coach who might be decent at blue blood program. The KSU position would have been a disaster, good program but not a top of the conference program.
  21. After losing a family member, and 24 hours away from being hospitalized myself and feeling 70% of myself or lower for over 3 months I would never chastise someone for being cautious. I personally love my school/team, vaccinated now and would take the risk. Especially if I honestly thought they would impress me today and beating a 6-6 MAC team was meaningful. It isn’t and on top of it, they were dominated for the most part. Not worthy of risking your health for. Hell even if I caught a asymptotic case and tested positive I would be pissed to have use additional PTO.
  22. So because historically the programs been bad we should hang on to mediocre that is trending down and hope for the best? 🤔Maybe we should been that lenient with Dickey and see what he could do with decent athletic facilities and a new stadium. Not familiar with the coaches in the Hall of Fame except Odfus Mitchell, so how many of those Hall of Fame Coaches have zero conference titles and zero bowls wins?
  23. Nope worse case scenario give Phil Bennett the job with a 3 year contract. Build in an affordable buyout and see what he can do. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Because if we don’t have a QB who can complete 60% and throw double digit TD 2022 will be 0.500 season again at best. Bring in the head coach from South Oakcliff. It would be a good marketing move. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Hey it might blow up in your face like Dodge did but at least they know now to surround a high school coach with experienced FBS coaches from day one. You want Apogee empty bring Seth back let them go 1-3. You essentially have the Phil Bennett experiment then anyway because Seth is probably fired after loss 3.
  24. We got beat soundly but not jaw dropping bad giving up 40 points and/or not scoring double digits. I think that was the worse case scenario imo. If we were going to lose I wanted to go down to the last drive of the game or a blowout to force Wren to make a move. What a waste of time for the Mean Green fans who went to Frisco. I really feel bad for them. I think everyone justifiably thought we would be competitive; a fourth quarter game trailing by 5 at the most.
  25. Without that weather that game is close. Also UTSA had clinched their home field in the Championship. It was big time fun and I paid over $150 to see it in person. Worth every penny. But in hindsight if we lost that game Seth is probably gone so a Seth led 2022 Mean Green isn’t worth it imo. I hope I am wrong.
