  1. That is probably the most important stat looking at college QB without top tier measurables. He has good to great weapons around him for a G5. As I write this he throws another unexplainable INT on a pass less than 15 yards down the field (straight to the defender). He fails the eye test with flying colors. I don’t why this is even a topic for discussion. 🙄
  2. You they aren’t planning for 10 years down the road but 10 months. If Aune doesn’t look great at the level of competition he goes against now it just isn’t logical that he is going to have an athletic epiphany at 30+. There is nothing special about Aune’s measurables. Aune’s a long shot to make it out of rookie mini camp if someone brings him in for a look.
  3. As much as I am Seth detractor, this criticism is a little overkill. He can sell the program to recruits good enough to compete for conference titles. Just win, don’t run afoul of NCAA rules, maintain academic eligibility for your best 32 players consistently and don’t have players getting into legal trouble every other year. For a coaches “demeanor” to help get fans/alumni back he would have to be Deion Sanders like or come in with record/system that gets fans excited. Mac was great in that regard until he started losing. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  4. Aune’s measurables are average and his statistics aren’t really good taking into account level of competition he goes against 8 games a year. If you don’t regularly light up the bottom 2/3 of CUSA as scout I would be very cautious of suggesting my team drafts in the back half of the draft. The last thing you want as lower level scout is pound the table for 30 year old QB be brought in with 6th or 7th round pick and have all the coaching staff wondering why he was brought in when they see him perform during training camp. At least Fine would have better stats and longer more impressive highlight video to show the your bosses what you saw in him. Aune is a hard worker and has professional acumen. But so is every player that isn’t freakishly athletically talented by NFL standards else they probably don’t get drafted high enough for teams to have patience correcting bad practice and preparation habits.
  5. 2022 yes, but if they are moving on from Zeke this offseason Jeff would be great to tandem with Pollard.
  6. Aune is not a NFL prospect. Average size, average athleticism, athleticism, arm strength, accuracy and stats. He might get a CFL tryout if he really wants one. Ruder and Gunnell have more of the measurebles scouts look for. And since Aune doesn't have Mason Fine numbers they aren't likely to look past the all those average attributes. I hope I am wrong. If Aune makes it to Final Cut down day only to get cut that will be much farther than I expect him to get in the NFL.
  7. That is very speculative logic not reality. Coaches without 4-5 years remaining on their contract recruit well all the time and not just at powerhouse P5 schools. Seth mediocre record here, low attendance at home games would be far bigger concerns for a Spring 2023 recruit coming here than him being under contract for their RS-JR or SR season. A recruit isn't thinking about the head coach being able to survive really bad season because he has a good contract. Here are the major concerns for recruits we have the best shot in getting in no particular order. · School culture - does it meet my academic, entertainment, and comfort needs? · Do I like/believe in the coaches and how they plan to use me? · Can we win here and me be a big part of that winning? If all those answers are yes the coaches remaining years on his current contract are of little concern. At all but a handful programs (regardless of coaches contract) recruits know that their coach could be fired or hired away at anytime. Hell if A&M didn't owe Fisher an obscene amount of money he would probably be gone at the end of this season with more than 5 years left in the buyout was around or below 35 million.
  8. Absolutely not, a NEW coach gets 5 year contract. Seth maxes out potential extension I would very cautiously turn my nose up and approve under a less than perfect finish is tacting on 2 years to the end of his current contract. That is 3 years. My logic is if the new coach is bad you likely fire him after 3 years anyway owing him more money than than they would Seth.
  9. Absolutely agree but a new coach would need 5 year contract at least. A two year extension for Seth put Seth under contract for 3. More than sufficient for a tenured coach you aren't absolutely in love with and your program is not the best brand in your conference. The level of athletes we want and can get only have DREAMS of going to the NFL after their 4th year. Only 5 stars really think that their true freshmen year production will get them on the path of being draft after their JR year. You want a stable coaching staff during that time. My main conditions for extension of Seth's time is a conference championship, or a very close loss to UTSA with a balance offense and a defense that hold them under their season average in points again, with a bowl win and lastly a quality QB coach hire.
  10. No it isn’t. Unless you disregard DT having completion percentage better than Aune’s every year. And only Brelon Chancellor would get significant number of snaps on with the WR Aune has had. Darnell Smith was good also but with the talent that Seth has brought in at that position I doubt a walk-on coming from JR College climbs his way up the depth chart significantly.
  11. No way was this comment 🙄 worthy. A QB with likely an under 60% completions, less than 1,000 yards rushing (likely under 500 yards) and only one bowl game with or one conference championship definitely should not be in HOF discussion. This will be his first season getting over 2,000 passing yard which is pedestrian for the pass happy NCAA football dominated by variations of the spread offense. Majority of teams line up with 3 or more WR 60% or more of plays that aren’t 3rd/4th down with less than 3 yards to go (especially if you are counting smaller Tight Ends that are much better pass catchers than blockers who would have been listed as WR 20 years ago). Someone needs a 48 hour cool down after big wins and crushing losses before posting on GMG. 😂
  12. That is why if Wren’s hand is forced with the Mean Green winning out the season or even just 1 loss the rest of the way I am only okay with a 2 year extension with no pay raise. My hope is that under that scenario Sonny Dykes wants Seth with him at TCU. Seth switches jobs without relocating and buyout is waived. And for anyone who thinks that is a bad scenario; what do kind of teams do you want us to have the next 7 years? Unless we find another Mason Fine (highly unlikely). One game over or under 0.500 is the BEST it appears Seth can do here. I sincerely doubt this staff finds another overlooked high school QB with pro level accuracy, decision making and leadership. And these highly touted transfers aren’t panning out either.
  13. Based on today’s performance and no further major injuries going forward we should be favored in the rest of the regular season games. UAB worries me but now they have to knock UTSA off before getting to our game to still be in the championship picture. FAU is in our rearview mirror and can only help us going forward. If they get lucky and we take care of business, they are coming to Denton and I like our chances.
  14. Tulane is highly rated and called “Harvard of the South”. They are also private and in the shadow of LSU and New Orleans Saints when it comes to football. They are more like Rice than SMU. They want to be good but they aren’t delusional. Their primary mission is to produce competent competitive graduates with career connections.
  15. I would take issue with some the conditions in extension that were in the original post. But with a slightly above 0.500 record with one championship and one bowl win out of 7 years he has “I am a competent coach” leverage. That isn’t much leverage. Like I stated in another thread Skip Holtz at La Tech did much better while getting paid almost 1 million dolllars less annually. I think Skip or some coach with a similar resume and background would happily take 1.8 million.
  16. To me the numbers just don’t back that up. He tied for 3 most interceptions and 3 worst in completion percentage. I don’t know those things can be true and it be considered among the best. There are only 11 teams, best I would rate his season is 4th.
  17. No but it should be if they loose more than one game the rest of the way. Because that probably means they lost the the chance to play in the championship and bowl game. And I hope championship game and Bowl loss back to back doesn’t give him “oh you were competitive enough and one game over 0.500” extension. You are correct. Running the table from this point on should be the ONLY way an extension CONSIDERED. And even then tacking on 2 years max at the same annual salary or you can resign for 1/2 your buyout. I am sure he could get an assistant P5 job. Especially if they run the table.
  18. That trash team was favored by 10. I am a results guy, no one harder on Seth and Aune than me. Give them their credit today along with that DEFENSE!
  19. Wow😂😂😱🥹. TD I don’t recognize this team right now.
  20. I will wait while you comb the NFL Draft archives for a QB drafted with a below 60% (Aune teetering closer to 50% than 61% for his career before this game started) completion percentage for their career and final college season. Guys drafted with the intention of playing another position primarily don’t count. I will wait. Take your time. 😂
  21. Stop there is no comparison to what is going on here. We aren’t above average. We are slightly below average here. Skip Holtz 6-1 in bowl games at La Tech. 5 times no worse than tied for 2nd in CUSA West. He has been a much better head coach than below average Seth. Firing Seth after his 3rd consecutive losing without a consensus top 3 CUSA recruiting class would be standard for any large public university serious about just good football (Never mind actual championship and bowl wins). BTW this 2016 CUSA Coach of the Year highest annual payout at La Tech is listed at below 800k. Seth’s salary here is 1.7 million. More than double Skip’s max. Give me a break man, UNT spending double the money on coaching here and not getting average results.
  22. I think winning the new USFL’s first championship was more than enough validation for him to know La Tech man a mistake.
  23. I just dropped the “If” from your quote. He completes 60% or more of his passes in a game about twice a season. And usually one of those games are against an FCS team. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  24. I am prepared to have my 2023 Saturdays free to just peek at them on TV and watch other programs willing do the uncomfortable/hard things necessary to be in the conference championship picture every season come mid November. I suggest everyone on this board consider doing the same. They are doing NOTHING for the reputation of the University rolling with coach mediocre mumbles under 0.500.
  25. Dallas Chapter does a horrible job of advertising their watch parties. I wasn't aware they even had them until this post spurred me to Google search for it. The drive to McKinney too far for me, I live south of HWY 183. There was one in Dallas Deep Ellum area a few years ago that was much better attended. But that was before Mason Fine left. 🤷🏽‍♂️. The McKinney Chapter fans/alumni are hearty and diehard. Always a good turnout Everytime I have the opportunity to travel that far. Even when they are a humble place like Fuzzy's Tacos.
