  1. Not familiar with him but really excited.
  2. I don’t think that deserved that many down votes. You are being a little optimistic that your proposed scheme change will get us to AAC Championship contending status within 3 years. That plan doesn’t guarantee success and you need D1 athletes on the defensive side to balance it out. Because you are playing keep away while averaging 24 points per game with that offense best case scenario. Also with half the new conference already used to defending that offense once a year when they play Navy, the unfamiliar schematic advantage will be minimal the first 2 years then essentially non-existent in conference. I think we should in a run heavy spread formation scheme. If the next staff doesn’t have a genius QB recruiter, passing game coordinator, and evaluator on it we need to maintain this balanced offense. The only thing I MIGHT change is have a QB under center offensive package at 20% of the playbook. *Only thing worse that being below 0.500 is being exactly 0.500 with a boring style of football with no improvement each year. 🤷🏾‍♂️
  3. Depending on who we bring in as head coach and OC, I would call him to gauge his interest in being a QB coach here. My ideal situation for the next head coach transition (if less than 12 years from now) is to have multiple assistant coaches on staff that are seasoned and ready to continue the positive momentum that got the head coach hired away. You would definitely have to overpay going G5 QB Coach pay rate but likely well worth it.
  4. I watch slight majority of P5 games but only in small samples of close games. When two good G5 teams are playing I watch the game in its entirety. Also good a G5 against P5 is stop down Appointment TV for me.
  5. And we are far from crazy. Friends and family that watched games with me that didn’t have a rooting interest in the game were unimpressed with Aune and more critical than me. So the criticism is mild here considering our modest expectations. Because I am not sure that another last second loss to UTSA gets Seth fired before the bowl. I assured that minimally he begins the year as head coach in a lame duck year or gets 1 or 2 years tacked on the end of his contract if he won the bowl game.
  6. Yes that is his ceiling in his first year. But the practice squad for young players. I don’t know how many week development time on the practice squad a 30 year old rookie will get. I would guess not more than half the season. If he isn’t definitively better than the 2nd QB they probably cut him. He has 4 years max to bounce around practice squads.
  7. If an SEC date isn't available, I agree.
  8. I see Deion like a Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez or Donald Trump type nothing controversial about them at all. 🙈👨🏾‍🦯👨🏾‍🦯👨🏾‍🦯
  9. Well it doesn't help when leadership throws that money away with bad decision. Like I have stated numerous times before it was ridiculous to lengthen contract term a second time without a Bowl Win, conference championship, a hard fought nail bitting loss in a championship game or even earning a home field advantage for a conference title game. Generally people don't like to see their money thrown away. People rolled their eyes and downvoted my comments mentioning a pitch for Deion. I think get donations to fund a Deion led program in DFW where Deion won a Superbowl is a slam dunk. Just firing Seth after the UNLV game and putting our name out there as legitimate building an offer for Sanders would have done wonders for the perception of our program. My donations go up significantly if I saw them take big swings that MAKE SENSE.
  10. Some people thinking they have UNT football's best interest at heart always have numerous excuses. Meanwhile Colorado put there publicly they don't have all the income set to pay Deion and his staff but they going to make it happen. UAB reboots their program and "toddler" age for an FBS program wins multiple conference championship. So I understand these HS coaches steering their best guys away from here. Are we really aspiring to win championships retaining Seth for 2022? If money (really just a bad extension decision) wasn't an issue you think Seth survives 2021? When anything besides winning and running a clean program stops you from making a move, outsiders aren't going to view your program as hungry and aspirational like Houston or SMU.
  11. Hell if we can swing it I would LOVE to bring in KC Keeler and Carthel on the same staff! Keeler for the first 5 years establishing a strong hierarchy and culture. Keeler retires in 5-6 years (or becomes AD after the younger hot AD that replaces Wren moves on) Cathel steps in to keep the momentum going and establishes a dynasty.
  12. Whoever rolled their eyes at this must be a personal friend of Seth or an idiot without any concern for this football program.
  13. Thank you for such a reasonable detailed post. I just didn't have the patience to dig in and explain all this and look up what happened at Liberty.
  14. I am just glad it is over. I first guessed this like many others on this board. They wasted a chance to be fully prepared for 2023 by giving Seth 2022. Fortunately for us 2022 was just slightly above what we expected to be entertaining. But I would have rather they fired him after UNLV game. Seeing the numbers on a Deion contract I think a 5 million per year package could have been put together and pitched to him with that lead time. There is huge untapped UNT fan and Alumni money that would be available if a Dallas Cowboys associated NFL Hall of Famer and Superbowl winner came to coach. Also the local business buyin would be on steroids with his association with the program. Now I doubt he would come but it still would be a sound business decision for him and on the football side he would be coming to a program with no In Conference disadvantages. At Colorado ESPN is coming to see his debute against a powerhouse TCU team. Here ESPN comes to see him return to the Dallas area to face SMU [ Deion Sanders Jr's alma mater coincidentally I don't know the status of USC's departure to the Big 10. But as long as USC, Washington, and Oregon are in the Pac 12, Colorado is little brother(akin to Texas Tech, KSU, Baylor and OSU till UT and OU leave the Big 12). He will win there but the ultimate prize in Colorado is the national championship. There would arguably be an easier path here to a the playoff than Colorado. And talent wise the Colorado team this past November would probably only -7 spread at home playing us. PR wise we would have benefited hugely if Sander's publicly acknowledged we made a competitive pitch. A PR benefit bigger than an stumbling though the rest of this season to 7-6 to the same Bowl game we managed to get in last year. A bowl game we would have lost regardless if Seth was declared safe to start the 2024 season or not.
  15. 0.500 is not a winning season not even technically. Not worth making the point because if you are only counting games against FBS he was 0.500 in the regular season or below if you count the CUSA title game. 🤷🏾‍♂️
  16. Most coaches don't survive 2 consecutive losing seasons. And keeping him for last Frisco Bowl worked out beautifully. He also got two changes to win bowl games with team with losing regular seasons. 🙄
  17. Correct I feel bad they couldn't enjoy preparing for the bowl game without this. But this program absolutely has to get away from making decisions with an emotional tint to them. A lot of people around this program want to operate like we have 50 million dollars coming in every year and a 70% full Apogee no matter how bad the team is. And if we had that someone like Seth is a little more successful here and we probably aren't firing him. 🤷🏾‍♂️. And player really should chill see who is hired and which assistants get retained.
  18. He is 74 and has been retired 8 years.
  19. 2023 was likely to be a 💩 regardless. They guaranteed that by not firing him after the bowl game last year. It was ridiculous to bring him back for 2022.
  20. Nevermind I will just write down your Dickey grievance entry as Dickey pissed in your Cheerios. Because instead of offering specifics you want to bring up what a retired 69 year old coach did at a P5 program and make a joke. 🤷🏾‍♂️ A joke I might agree with if you have the fountain of youth or a time machine to go back and grab 55 year old Mac. Man and you were so correct about that 1000% better stuff. Mac's career winning rate is 0.400 while Dickey's is a pathetic 0.392. 🤦🏽‍♂️
  21. Ding Ding Ding objective truth right there. Guy was a hard worker, good guy, nice family man, and I feel bad banging on him. But gosh darn it some other people on this board make it hard and not to bang on him. You can't talk about raising a programs bar that has 25 conference titles (3 this century, 2 bowl game victories also) when you have NONE. Top in all off you have 2 winning seasons out of 7.
  22. 😕 If he raised the bar it is only because the Dodge regime lowered it. But they were low paid also. We are not Rice, UTEP, Texas State, or ULM. We got rid of Dickey, Dodge and Mac after 2 consecutive losing seasons. They got rid of Seth before hitting the absolute rock bottom. I think we saw that we aren't that far from being on par with SMU in a tangible way. But that was from the fruition of a lot of investment and hard work done before he arrived.
  23. Never let facts get in the way of bias against Dickey 🙄. How do you win 1/3 of a Bowl Game? 1 New Orleans Bowl Victory = 1 Heart of Dallas Bowl Victory. Also I doubt your accessment would be any different if Dickey's team had beaten their 2 other mediocre G5 bowl game opponents. What they did elsewhere doesn't matter especially since Mac has not coached in any capacity since leaving here and turns 70 before the 2023 regular season. But enlighten us on the jackass antics from 18-20 years ago.
  24. Good point but the definitive impression from all sources in the know is that Jimbo owns that offense with very little big strategic input from Dickey or anyone else. As for his energy who knows. But if he contacts leadership here requesting a chance to interview I would be worried about that. In my mind he should want the job here as bad as his most diehard Mean Green fans do or more. I doubt he is hurting for money and he retirement age for most regular professionals. And he would be the recruiting closer not the road dog.
  25. Naysayers please list your fears. We need to hear them. Some of you all seem really passionate about not bringing him back. I don't recall all the messy details and ugly things he said over 18 years ago.
