Looks like 2022 season with UNT was his sixth year of eligibility so he is done. https://utahstateaggies.com/sports/football/roster/zahodri-jackson/8557

His average play just became a lightening rod here. He is just an average QB playing with above average offensive talent and a below average defense. One thing is for certain; he doesn't elevate team performance. He was our Kirk Cousins. I hope he makes decision with an eye on coaching if he really plans to continue a career in football. A decade from now with his unique experience to this point and working in a college athletic department from 2024 on, I could see him as an AD at DII. What degrees has he earned to this point? That would give us a better insight on his realistic future plans. His athletic prime is near its end.

A List of chores Wren left Jared

I believe gymnastics is the way to go. We would be filling a huge hole in D1 gymnastics. I might personally want to see lacrosse or baseball but starting the only D1 gymnastics program in the state of Texas would be huge. Just imagine if Simone Biles was a UNT Alumni or wanted to coach college gymnastics in her home state. https://apnews.com/article/simone-biles-sports-business-gymnastics-college-f8eaae4ef2a03730b120cc1824ee58a4 -

This was exactly the same thing we saw last year. They coached around Aune's limitations in stretches and weather aided them against UTSA in 2021. So I would bash the players or coaches because the administration knew exactly what we were going to see this year. And since they slightly exceeded expectations and the no division structure of CUSA got us in the championship game, Seth got the whole season. They doubled down on the mistake of the 2nd extension by letting him coach all of 2022. There is no perfect time to fire a head coach. There are only bad times and worse times. They choose the worst opportunity that presented itself going back to the middle of 2021 season.
-
I am not blaming Morris for any of this. They fired Seth too late. At the very latest they should have fired him after 2nd half goose egg blowout that the UAB game turned into. A half of being shutout should never happen to a tenured HC with an offensive back ground and seasoned starting QB. Leadership made sure that the new coach was going to be behind the 8-ball going into the new conference. Shorter deserved to be utilized better. Kind of delusional wishful thinking. Just like the decision to bring Seth back. It was absolutely stupid to let weather cloud a long term decision. UTSA's Jeff Traylor owned Seth from the day he arrived in San Antonio. So 😡 that we ended up with a coach taking over under these circumstances when it was clear as day to any neutral observer that under Seth had reached his ceiling with the team here.

Morris would have won that game

I think you are being a little harsh on Aune. The drops are a factor, but they are a bigger factor when he throws interceptions and off target so often that the on target passes become so valuable. He threw some accurate balls to receivers getting hit. Even with the drops what does this game look like without the 2 interceptions? Most likely those “dropped” passes aren’t the called plays with a lead. -
Whose draft stock? You mean AAC DBs for creative pick 6 interception celebration dances? I wasn’t aware NFL scouts were looking for that.

Will you stop challenging Aune please? 🤣. The coaches aren’t going to take him out the game apparently. 🤷🏽♂️

My score is similar but I think we get there differently. I think it's close one score game by mid second quarter. I think our defense starts getting exposed and Aune & company can possess the ball long enough to keep it close. 38-16 BSU.

You want to sit out of a bowl .....

I think your observation flys in the face of "colleges are the entertainment draw" argument. 🤷🏾♂️ -

There is little to no LOYALTY in American business going both ways. It has always been about power. So if you are firing what appears to be a solid performing leader within your organization that their direct subordinates love, I have no issue with it. I have seen historically when employers had unchecked power they did morally reprehensible things. Like I said only people considering bringing this QB to their team should care. When I don't consider an employee a part of my organization's future and don't value or consider their input about my organization's path after they leave, I would be a fool to trust them. Respect and loyalty should go both way in college sports. I am having a very hard time with this whole thread reeking of hypocrisy. -
I don’t know about that. I look at the athletes a program consistently get in comparison to the rest of the conference. Purdue isn’t a top 3 destination in the Big 10 and barely top 3 in their division. If I were Harrell I would have tried to come back here as OC. If the offense looks good again he gets more of the credit of the offensive success during SL’s early tenure. And he is uniquely positioned to be a hot candidate for any P5 program in the states along the I-35 corridor. I think only one. I think the only programs that might think twice before considering him at that point would be TAMU, UT, and OU.

Nobility and loyalty aren't rewarded frequently so while I would make note of this if I were in a NFL draft room, there is no other reason for me to care. How many of us have been loyal to an organization during our careers for it not be to respected or rewarded? And we don’t have people running full speed and hitting us while we are trying to work asa part of our job. @El Paso Eagle and anyone else salty towards this man consider this: The head coach they love, who wants to stay and helped get them to the bowl game is coaching with the next head coach shaking hands on the sidelines. Give me a break. 🙄 -
Morris Vision on What North Texas Can Be
Mike Jackson replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes come on @keith I am just as skeptical of this hire as anyone (my favorites were Catheral & Keeler)🤷🏽♂️ . But you are being a little too nit-picky. I would like to know what he said exactly also but I don’t think it would change how I feel about his hire. I have no doubt about his X & O acumen. Being the football administrator, developing and maximizing relationships that help us in recruiting that aren’t on your payroll is the biggest challenge here. You can’t talk your way in to me believing strongly you can do that. Especially after our experience with Coach Mac here. And @All About UNTis absolutely right. The historical problem with our program since Fry left are inconsistent and often low aspirations. That is why I advocate for big swings getting known commodities here to coach, the bigger name the better. We should be where Cincinnati and Louisville are today. We have a lot in common with those 2 programs. There is no reason we couldn’t be in the P5 or soon to join one other than bad performances and EARNED local apathy. -
Does he need a volunteer driver? I am off till January 3. 🤷🏽♂️🤣🤣

He isn't taking over a 1 win 2022 season team either. UNT has been to 2 straight bowl games. They know how to compete but just not to win more than they lose. As of the last game of the regular season the Colorado's roster was worse than our roster. I hope he really believes that and has a realistic time line in his head to do it. It one thing to win here and get on par local coverage with TCU & SMU it whole different ball of wax to start taking recruits from Texas and TAMU. It definitely can be done like TCU has. The fastest time frame to do that is would be after the 3 season. With a lot of success the first 3 seasons, you can start fishing in upper P5 recruit pool competitively.

🤪 Academic Standards? Well athletically they are committing suicide as a conference. I was hoping this utterly ridiculous money grab move would be stopped. Flying Teams during the middle of the week 2 times zones away is great for the student athletes academics. 😜 You have to laugh to not be depressed about college sports being run like for profit semi-pro leagues. That is part of the reason I take a big issue with the criticism of these young men approaching their careers like free agent for profit labor because it appears everyone in decision making positions are pure capitalist when it come to making decision about the sports. If Title 9 was less strict I think half of the current FBS programs would not exist at the D-1 level or above intramural. Also I think this may be the end of UCLA Football having relevancy. I just feel for the non-revenue sport athletes at these programs who want the education these institutions offer without the stress of ridiculous 3 time zone travel in semester for conference games. If the leadership of the NCAA had any morals they would all resign their positions calling out the institution for the new levels of hypocrisy they have achieved in the last decade or so.

Seth was the "young hot offensive commodity" also. But actually managing the coaching talent was his biggest challenge here. And it won't matter how good his QB coaching is if he can't put together a defense that can hold teams before 35 points a game. I trust guys who have done it better just a little bit longer.
