  1. Hey just bet the over to offset any potential disappointment. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  2. Man, I don’t want to imagine what you will post if we ever sign a 5-star transfer or recruit. 😂🤣🤣😂🤣
  3. ⏫ Great points. And I would suggest the next phase of this debate start with how does blackballing mid-level management allegedly involved or passive ignoring rumors of sexual assault a decade ago makes women today safer. We are all against sexual assault but I believe there are better and more impactful ways to attack the problem than permanently blackballing bystanders. And I use “bystanders” loosely because bystander suggest the person was onsite immediately before, during, or after an alleged assault.
  4. Plenty of wiggle room to cancel/not renew a scholarship. And not all of it is dependent on the athlete. If you are a super straight arrow but not talented enough to contribute to the team you can make it hard for them to get rid of you by always doing the right thing. But if they are motivated and don’t actually like you they can fabricate a reason to get rid of you. Just like they cover up mistakes made by the most valuable players.
  5. I agree with that in a board sense. But that isn’t what I mean when I say; we shouldn’t care. I say we shouldn’t care because we don't have influence on who leadership at TCU or Baylor decides to hire. Also I am skeptical how preventing staff from Briles' tenure at Baylor from getting jobs not connected with UNT protects women (even if we had that power). It is hard for me to be proactively campaigning against any Briles associate from getting another college coaching job not knowing their level on guilt/knowledge in the situation. I think we need to be careful assigning scarlet letters to lower level leadership in these situations. At the end of the day the ultimate responsibility is with individuals closet to situations that lead to sexual assault or have received solid evidence of an assault taking place. After the assault is too late and certainly after litigation is way too late to have the best positive influence. I think we should have an expectation that our male colleagues or direct reports not sexually assault women. The final point is that I don't believe female students at TCU are even 1% more likely to be assaulted by TCU football players going forward because Briles is the OC now. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Campaigning against associates below AD, HC, or even assistant HC not formally charged or even reprimanded by the NCAA or former employer is virtue signaling that doesn’t actually protect women.
  6. You are talking to the fanbase of a historically poorly ran G5 football program. Being "unsullied" from things like this is one the few positives they have to hold on to. 🤷🏽‍♂️. But we really shouldn't give a crap especially since we don't really compete with Baylor nor TCU for recruits.
  7. "Supposed" according to who? Schools were not even allowed to formally offer multiple year scholarships before 2010. And now it is optional and I don't believe that even the term "recommended" is included in the amended NCAA regulation allowing formal multiple year scholarships. I don't even like bringing up Coach Deion anymore because we missed a golden opportunity to pitch him. He was the only coach out there that could have brought the drastic changes needed on and off the field to get us competitive with P5 programs within 3 seasons not 6-12 seasons. I thought that is what majority of Mean Green fans wanted. But now I am tempted to root against him a Colorado as any success they have is potentially what he could have done here. Not that we could been able to afford him but isn't good that we didn't try given his contribution to the last time the Dallas Cowboys won a Superbowl. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  8. Not to insult LT but if this moves the needle on our expectations to beat them it only means our coaching staff has a lot of work to do improving our defense.
  9. Never underestimate the appeal job security. Also the scrunity on the offense should be relaxed as long as the offense is pretty good. And great athletes to work with and Sonny as an offensive mind resource to work with, I cannot think of a more attractive OC job in the country today.
  10. And all those programs except UTEP and UNT are above 0.500 vs FBS competition. Also UTEP is the only FBS school within Texas that is over a 5 hour drive to get to any other FBS school. So if you are kid that wants to stay in state but from El Paso logistically it makes sense to stay there unless the P5 schools are interested in you. We make a bunch of bad comparisons on this board not grasping how bad this program has been for most of its time back at the FBS. I believe UNT occurs to Dentom recruits as that tomboyish girl you never thought was cute growing up. Now all the sudden she put on a dress poorly applies some makeup and expect you to treat her like homecoming queen just because she expressed some interest in you. 😂. I am Denton native and athletics were the last thing on my mind when I decided to come back to Denton and continue my education after the Army. It was a nice bonus seeing FBS level football and Div I Basketball for "free" . Luckily for me they started winning just enough to be entertaining during that time. Otherwise I would be nearly as invested today as I am now.
  11. I have been worried about our defense since Mac's team started to decline after the Heart of Dallas Bowl. 🤷🏽‍♂️. My preference has always been ,if forced to choose just one, to have a dynamic playmaking defense and an just an efficient offense. You can scheme matchups on offense that favor your best players but on defense you are only as strong as your weakest link. You need at least one great athlete at all 3 levels of the defense to really play game controlling defense. On offense just give me an efficient QB and at least 3 good OL out of 5 and an really good OC should be able to cook up plays hitting those weak links on the defense. You may not be able to get into the top 15 of the AP poll playing that way but you can win some G5 conference championships and bowl games for sure.
  12. He appears to be a little on the small side for a DL especially when you consider our 3 DL alignment. At a listed 253 lbs a DL needs serious quicks and power to to offset the 25-35 lbs advantage most linemen should have on him at better FBS programs. Looking at his career summary I hope no one is lying to this young man puffing him up to think there are great opportunities waiting for him in the portal. No one that wasn't a star on last year's defense should have transfer visions of grandeur unless going to FCS. If his scholarship wasn't in question for fall 2023 I would advise him to stay here for HIS benefit not the Mean Green's benefit. If you a "meh" infrequent rotational defensive guy at North Texas; that is most likely what you are going to be at other FBS programs.
  13. Yes I think this is overblown but we DON’T WIN. Since our return to FBS we are below 0.500 against FBS competition. The time we have even a modestly good run of 3 years, it was in the old really bad Sun Belt. And during that Sun Belt run our out of conference record was bad.
  14. When the article said “former Bulldogs QB” I thought they were talking about Mississippi State Bulldog. 🤷🏽‍♂️
  15. ⬆️ I appreciate the optimism, but quick question did you have a designated driver to get you home after this post? Hopefully you were already home. I would call 2023 a rebuilding year but it will be a recalibrating year. I don’t know how this team will stack up against a AAC schedule with better coaching and QB play. No one does really. I expect them to be somewhat competitive but it will be a learning curve. Just an another reason Seth shouldn’t have been the head coach for 2022. Tough to go into a new conference learn your team without tape of them verses most of you conference foes.
  16. It appears he has his dream job for this stage of his coaching career. You would have to give him the head coaching job here to leave App State and certainly now to leave his alma mater Mississippi State.
  17. I will be watching TCU's offense with great interest next year if Seth is there. Very skeptical of his offensive coaching accumen based on half of his tenure here. Switching high paying jobs without uprooting your family rare in coaching.
  18. I tried to argue with this but it's true. Houston - at 8-5 I don't see the logic in ranking us ahead. TAMU - Talent Gap huge; does anyone think the old coaching staff is that much better than what they have/had in College Station? Baylor - 6-7 but played a much tougher schedule and they have a talent advantage. @Jason Howeth you are going to learn than giving an objective fact based opinion will earn you majority downvotes more often than not. I wish our GMG Board was better and could take fair but tough critics of the football program better. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  19. Why don't you go to the SMU fan page and enjoy trolling TCU there? Everything about you posting here in this specific topic is odd and pathetic. So odd that it is hard to come up with a NFL comparison to lend context to me calling it odd. Best I can come up with is Viking fan going to Bears Fan Forum celebrating the Detroit Lions getting historically blown out in a Superbowl. 🤷🏻‍♂️ 🙄 Man I hate to do this but your trolling of a program we should be trying to emulate forces me to relive this horrible moment from our program's history. I would certainly trade TCU's national championship game beat down with our 66-7 beat down at the hands of FCS Portland State. Like I said you sound like way more of a TCU hater/SMU fan than a Mean Green fan with a firm grasp on reality. So let me get this straight, our team's worse moment came at home against a FCS team, TCU's worse moment came against an undefeated National Champion Georgia team from the undisputed best conference in FBS loaded with NFL talent and citing this disparity makes me a closet TCU fan? This just doesn't add up for me. 🤨
  20. Fans of our program certainly don't. Both our programs were challenged very significantly in regards to conference realignment. TCU has the extra excuse of being a small private religiously associated university. When the SWC/Big 12 told them to kick rocks they kept beating on the door for admittance with investment in their program and winning on the field. UNT floundered dropped down to FCS, did nothing on that level and since returning to FBS have a losing record against FBS competition. --- Oh and they have a major bowl win as a G5 program, the first G5 Doak Walker Award Winner (only 2 all time). Not to mention finishing in the AP top 25 several years as a G5. How many has UN--eh let's not go there. In my top 10 things I want to see the Mean Green do, beating a TCU team having a good year is probably somewhere between 7-10. Instead of laughing maybe we need to be doing everything we can to bring in people who were there for the time TCU was rebuilding towards being a competitive P5 team. But if hating on TCU gives you more enjoyment than going to UNT games, more power to you. Just please offer that disclaimer first so I can skip the rest of your comment. 🤷🏻‍♂️
  21. Some valid criticisms here but in the big picture minor. I will address kickoff times because it seem that most people don't know those are all but dictated by TV contract. It is only when we are playing FCS team that TV doesn't care about that we have the most freedom picking a kickoff time. Now here is the catch-22. This program is well under 0.500 vs FBS competition overall. And while I haven't crunched the numbers I assume we are under 0.500 against FBS competition at home also. But here is the real deal: This program spits the bit historically when challenged over the last 50 plus years. You can contrast what TCU did when they were left out of the Big 12 verses what UNT did when the SWC finalized their decision not to add UNT in the late 70s. UNT took a extra step down to FCS and didn't perform well at that level. TCU fought and clawed their way to higher levels.
  22. I am right there with you but at least he just left the team. Threads on guys like Siggers make no sense. Our fanbase needs to move on from being concerned about guys that transfer out. Especially when they aren't going to a P5 like Bean and Jake did.
  23. I thought this was a thread about Siggers? 🤨. There is another thread for TCU. And for the record Siggers probably couldn't walk on at TCU now.
  24. I don't agree with everything in this post but this one can't be challenged for it's accuracy. In the past 27 years the Mean Green has not posted back to back Bowl wins, no 10 win seasons, only 4 seasons with 9 wins. It the reason I only have one season ticket. The only time you can consistently give one of your spare tickets away is in the Club Seats. You could put a retractable dome on the stadium and once the novelty wears out attendance will be down to 65% capacity if the program isn't winning.
  25. I think we need a Green Energy corporate sponsor preferably one specializing in Wind. Partner with our Engineering College also. What better way for a Wind Turbine company to get some free press specifically by installing new components to our windmills that increase efficiency and maybe power the whole athletic complex on that side of I-35 with power to spare. I can hear the ESPN announcers saying "this broadcast is completely off the power grid and power by your company's name here wind energy"
