Your context is wrong, haha. I'm talking about high school kids with high school experiences guiding their perspective. They don't have experience or differentiation between one or the other. They are the boss now and they see the world from that perspective. They don't think, damn, it's a g5 so my roll is going to slow, so I'm going to have to supplement with a good band and a long school history.

What terrifies me is I've read comments stating it will take 2 to 3 years to start recruiting well or highly sought-after recruits are not that important because it's the system that will win or the system will get the players. I don't think any of those are true. I'm hoping those comments don't reflect the coaching staffs attitude toward recruiting. Another worrisome attitude I've read on here is re:utsa recruiting which basically says, "ya, but let's see if they sign/qualify!" We need to position ourselves for success, not hope for the failure of other teams to be competitive. It's not NSD, but now that the black out period is here, it's kind of like the last 2 minuets of the game.

So, you'r suggesting taking the best of the rest is better than? THAT sounds super high risk and very low reward in trying to fill a roster. I'm pretty risk averse, but I don't think that's a good idea.
-
Ok, now I'm worried. We have entered the black out period that lasts to when, January? That means there is realistically one more month to N.S.D. I sure hope there is something going on behind the scenes. How secure are the current commits, isn't this the time the P5's come poaching? ?

*im a fan of unt and utsa* So, is this or bad for UNT? I can't tell from the posts.

Yep, Applewhite.

This gets so old... I root for both teams. Actually had an Eagle but the mods changed it, probably to facilitate instigation. It's not a dig, I thought I read that on here awhile back and wonder, in context of the thread, if that is the reason for not seeing awards. I don't take digs, I follow scoreboard. Everything else is b.s. I never heard that. What's wrong with his health? It's not serious is it?

I don't see Wilson often, but doesn't he struggle with ball security around the goal line?

I'm curious as well. I'm not sure how you determine that until after NSD

Mean Green Land two on the all conference Freshman team
UTSA Fan replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
I think this was the site that had posters adamantly saying Fine was not a QB 1. Huh. All Conference Freshman and lead his team to a bowl. Also, in San Antonio Keena really impressed me. That guy would aim for the coffin corner and damn near hit the pylon. -
How do you define northerners? Does NC count?

Since money is inconsequential, (teams keep $100k of the payout then the conference gets the rest ) I rate bowls on potential impact for recruiting. As such, this is a grand slam for the school. They play a bowl game in the TV market of most of their recruits! Haha, dumb a*s experts.

Tee Goree & Willie Robinson No Longer On Roster

Never recovered from a concussion. -
Attendance = Bowl invite. You hate Notre Dame and Penn State bowl runs but they bring the house. Buy the damn tickets and show up. If your really butt hurt, look at it as an investment for a 9 win season that UNT will get invited up a bowl because they sell tickets.

The first $100k then pooled for expenses. After member bowl expenses are paid, this is where I lose track, the remaining is distributed amount bowl teams. I don't remember the rate or %. To me, under this system, the biggest benefit is extra practice time and exposure for recruiting. Unless your $100K short on a facilities project.
-
My understanding is teams and bowls are paired for attendance. In CUSA, all bowl teams keep the first $100k (regardless of payout) then the conference gets the rest to cover all member bowl expenses. As such, UNT should get the HOD based on the selection focus of attendance. I would be shocked if another bowl materialized.

Two things needed to build any Football Program
UTSA Fan replied to GMG24's topic in Mean Green Football
We will agree to disagree. He wasn't in his position for more than a month and had to work with what was delt. Regarding the slow pace now, i.d.k., I'm willing to at least give him one recruiting class before I pass judgment. -

There was a 4 game positive differential from last year with players he didn't recruit. It's a sign of improved coaching- optimism. If he can show he can recruit and gain an addition 4 game positive differential then you have excitement. I've said it before and I think it bears repeating, this season is not a complete look at SL because he didn't get to recruit and was implementing his schemes. I think 1 win from last year added to 4 coaching wins + 3 to 4 wins with the right recruits = success.
