Improving the Student Game Day Experience
Matt from A700 replied to El Paso Eagle's topic in Mean Green Football
They did only 25 yards at the Tech game and the girl made it... meanwhile our kicker shanked a 25 yarder. That's another thing. The prizes aren't so big that we should be scared of someone actually winning. Can we get some students who have actually played a sport on the field for these contests? Little things like seeing a student not be able to kick a ball off the ground or air balling a free throw also affects the stigma of UNT. -
***Official Wyoming vs UNT Game Thread***
Matt from A700 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
I liked the all green, but I will also say I'm glad we have stayed away from black this year. Our worst look has been mixing up white jerseys/pants with black jerseys/pants and minimal green. Hopefully we're done with that, unfortunately that is still one of softball's primary uniform schemes. -
Tulsa, @ FAU, East Carolina, and @ Temple should get us to seven... then just have to win ONE in the four-game stretch of @ Memphis, Tulane, Army, and @ UTSA. And so far that stretch this year isn't looking much like the guantlet it was last year! One thing I think we can all agree on... there aren't three sure losses left on the schedule.

Yes, Wyoming is bad, but don't discredit the FCS Idaho team they lost to. The Vandals are 3-1 with its only loss being a close 24-14 game to Oregon. And they beat Abilene Christian by more points than Tech did.

Four whole days after the election? I wish our men's basketball home opener got that lucky. 😔

Nice to get our first win against a school who did not come over to the American from CUSA with us, and against a school we tied last year. Next Thursday's game vs. 2-7 Temple provides a great opportunity to get win #400 in front of a home crowd.

Especially if UTSA leaves us behind, too. Texas State would be the natural program to backfill with but if that somehow doesn't happen, that leaves us with Rice and Tulsa as our closest regional rivals. However, it would be hilarious if those teams do bolt and no lucrative media deal comes to fruition for the PAC.

I wouldn't doubt it at all. My first job out of college was ticket sales manager for the Dallas Rattlers, the Major League Lacrosse team that played two seasons at The Star in Frisco. The Cowboys were supposed to be "partners" and our first home game back in 2018 was the only game we opened up ticket sales to both sides of the stadium in hopes of filling it. The Cowboys took hundreds of tickets they were supposed to distribute - to partners, season ticket holders, etc. Come gameday that huge stack was just laying on the counter in the box office.

According to my boss who's a UNT alum and waited till gameday to buy tickets two weeks ago, GA tickets were "sold out" last week too and we know how the end zone actually looked. I am afraid we may have 30,000+ tickets claimed but the same number of people that we did against SFA.

Why do you assume that? Why would they remove 6,000 student tickets from their website counter and kill any sense of urgency to buy tickets?

If you don't count the fact that our defense has been embarrassing the entire Morris tenure, there haven't been too many "humiliating" losses... the Cal tragedy was followed up with the FIU disaster last year, but at least the FIU game nobody was in the stands and the game was on ESPN+. The 2nd half of the SMU game last year resulted in a humbling blowout, but Morris and Co. did follow it up with two wins to end the season. I assure you no one affiliated with UNT was happy about last Saturday and I believe everyone wants to erase that from their memories, so I think we will come to play. I would really like to see a good bounceback from C. Morris to make me feel better about the rest of the season.

Disclosure: I know it's hard to find any information on Twitter right now that isn't just pure speculation. But admittedly, speculating is fun. I have long been in the boat to move to a rebuilt Pac-12 as long as there were enough teams to have several travel partners this far east. But there's been some rumblings that we aren't pursuing moving conferences again. I assume our exit fee may not be paid for, but also rising travel costs are being considered. The strong rumors now are Memphis, Tulane, and a combination of UTSA/UNLV/USF. While losing our next biggest rival after SMU, leaving Rice as our next closest regional rivalry, would suck, there should also be considerations about basketball taken into account for how the AAC can keep up. If the PAC gets at least Memphis and Tulane, I assume UNLV (and there's even talks of Gonzaga/St. Mary's for basketball), the AAC needs to not only go after Air Force, but work on doing its part in annihilating the MWC. We need to go after Nevada, Utah State, and New Mexico - three NCAAT teams in 2024. (If you really want to irk some Mempiss fans on Twitter, you could even argue these moves would replace the "dead weight" in basketball.) We are in our greatest period of sustained success in men's basketball and we need to reward our coaches and players - we should be in a conference where 22/23 regular season + conference tourney wins gets us into the NCAAT even if we don't win the conference tournament.

Soccer Extends Unbeaten Streak To Seven In Row
Matt from A700 replied to GrandGreen's topic in Mean Green Athletics
1. Regarding 16... regular season championships mean diddly poo in the conferences we've been in. I have never seen a school celebrate regular season titles as much as we do. 2. Reread above... Hedlund has obviously hit his ceiling and this program has gone stagnant or possibly even declined. Yes, he has more titles and wins than everyone ever has, but with more accomplishments comes higher expectations. 30 years, almost 400 wins, and not a single NCAA Tournament win to our name. Let him finish the year and get his 400th win but if we're tying with the ACU and TAMU Commerce's of the world, might be a sign to move on. -
UTSA and Traylor likely heading to Pac12
Matt from A700 replied to Dannymacfan's topic in Conference ReAlignment
I would want it to be a 12-team league with a five other travel partners in the "East:" UTSA, Memphis, Tulane, CSU, and... New Mexico? Rice? TXST? A media deal that wouldn't require me to pay for another subscription (so... ESPN+ and ESPN linear). Get UNLV as that sixth team in the west. Pay for our AAC exit fee. -
Improving the Student Game Day Experience

Is this supposed to be impressive? -
Not gonna downvote because I'm not going to shoot down someone coming up with creative ideas, because we need those... but this is crazy. Makes me think of how crazy "tip culture" is getting.

App State's run defense looks worse than ours.
