  1. Oregon State and Washington State have added an extra layer to realignment chaos by opting to keep the Pac-12 name and history alive. If Memphis, Tulane, and USF leave the American, whether to the Pac-12 or ACC, leaving the American without its top seven brands that got it the best TV deal for the G5, what about this scenario? The Mountain West invites the westernmost AAC programs including us and we rebrand as the Southwest Conference. The new SWC adds Texas State, and sprinkles in some other non-football members to put together a respectable and somewhat regional 12-team football conference and 16-team basketball conference looking like: FOOTBALL WEST Air Force Hawaii Nevada San Jose State UNLV Wyoming EAST New Mexico North Texas Texas State UAB UTEP UTSA BASKETBALL WEST Air Force Grand Canyon Nevada Saint Mary's San Francisco San Jose State UNLV Wyoming EAST New Mexico North Texas Texas State UAB UT Arlington UTEP UTSA Wichita State In this scenario, the AAC teams avoid an exit fee because us, UTSA, and UAB collaborate with the other remaining members to effectively kill the conference as Rice and Tulsa go back to CUSA, Charlotte, ECU, and FAU go to the Sun Belt, Army and Navy go back to independents for football, and Temple is thrown a bone by the Big East for its history while football either goes independent as well or down to FCS. Who says no?

  2. Yes, waiting to hear the Hedlund apologists point out how much we outshot UTSA. I'm glad we at least got a point out of the game but the reality is we are weak and hesitant when we get close to the goal. We had the ball on UTSA's side of the field probably 75% of the game yet we tie, and UTSA takes advantage of two of their only three scoring opportunities. The physicality of the game was entertaining, though!
  3. The conference needs to recognize this if we beat Memphis, and get our Army matchup on ESPN!
  4. With the MWC 7 staying put, should we still try to aggressively pursue expansion now with programs such as Texas State and James Madison or wait? There's a chance at least one league between the PAC and MWC won't reach eight full-time members by the deadline to maintain FBS status and the American could swoop in and take that league's best programs.
  5. Tech was obviously the biggest opportunity, but beating Memphis, Tulane, and Army will turn some heads. UTSA too on national television... Even if they aren't the same UTSA, it's a program that was allegedly a bigger expansion target than us.
  6. I could see this. I was wondering if he said anything before we hit him late on the slide.
  7. Not just big crowds but I imagine the conference has to be taking notice and put us on linear ESPN for those Tulane and Army games.
  8. Seth Littrell and Graham Harrell reuniting in Charlotte confirmed.
  9. We scored 38 points in less than 15 minutes of game time without a defensive touchdown (although we did recover a blocked punt at the 1). That's pretty good. And honestly could have had a shot for 41 or 45 because I have no idea how they gave that squib kick recovery to Tulsa.
  10. What do we gotta do to get Stone Cold to a game? I will take this though, this is the first time I've seen him publicly acknowledge UNT in my short fanhood.
  11. With UTSA seemingly a bigger candidate for realignment than us, I thought it'd be interesting to keep up with our record against them in 2024-25 as a program. Before postseason, we're scheduled to play them 10 times in 6 sports this year. We won Game 1 tonight.

  12. 3-0 start to conference to notch 9 points, while Memphis already has a tie. Big games coming up in the next couple of weeks against UTSA and Rice too. Those programs seem to have closed the gap on us.
  13. Weird, the conference comes up with a bunch of mumbo jumbo to say they needed to redo the women's schedule.
  14. Cam Ward just made an incredible play to get the Canes on the doorstep of taking the lead.
  15. UTA has already filled their schedule and we haven't. I think the reluctance is coming from UTA. The women's basketball series ended last year and volleyball series this year. If we don't play them in softball this season I'll be really convinced.
  16. Men's schedule observations: The conference schedule doesn't give fans many opportunities to travel. At UTSA is on a Saturday, but Memphis is on a Sunday, and Wichita, UAB, and Rice are all on weekdays. Two home games over Winter Break I believe is equal to or one less than last year, giving us 4 total as of right now. Our last weekend home game is 2/8 against Tulane. Would have preferred later if we do another tailgate game aiming for high attendance. Premier home game against Wichita State is on a weeknight as well. We have to go to Philadelphia for our last game of the season before coming back for the conference tournament.
  17. This late, I think the best scenario is 3 of the 4 remaining games being scheduled at home so we get 16 (more bang for your season ticket buck) but they're all SWAC/DII/NAIA competition.
  18. We could schedule five more games to get to 31, but at this point I think Hodge will settle for 30.
  19. Let's get rid of Tulsa and Rice. Temple would probably be the third choice, but I think their brand name and location could be bait to woo some non-football members like Dayton and VCU.
  20. We are lucky to have Kyle Youmans, he is the up-and-coming Mark Followill in my biased opinion. A lot better than these other randos that come into Denton for the first time.
  21. There are only a handful of teams in the MVC or better with less than 31 games scheduled: Auburn Baylor Drake Murray State San Diego San Diego State USC After that, you have to start digging into the Sun Belt or worse. And we currently only have 26 games (publicly known/leaked). Seems like we always have two home games to start off the season and Saturday, 11/9 is available at the Pit right now. I would love to see us team up with football, and work with the conference to volunteer for the 11:30 timeslot for our game against Army, then set up a game at The Pit for 6:30 that evening. Army will be a crowd of 25K+ if football continues its momentum, and we could bring a lot of those people across the highway even if it was just for a SWAC school. But of the better the teams mentioned above, look at SDSU. San Diego State, two years removed from the national championship game, only has 7/11 nonconference opponents announced, no road games, and has an opening between Nov. 6 and Nov. 14. If we work together with football and the conference, and land SDSU on 11/9, we could sell the Pit out. Tailgate 8-11 for football and 4-6 for basketball.
  22. I would have liked to see a few throws out of him though.
  23. Conference schedules coming out Thursday. I would hope the nonconference drops with it. This late I'm not confident our last two home games will be against D-I competition.
  24. If you have Twitter, Mosley is pretty responsive. I left my sunglasses at the stadium after the SFA game and he was responding to my messages the same night.
