  1. Oh I know, I was just updating. I know UConn struggled in the first round against... St. John's right?... last year, too. It can go two ways: you keep barely getting by until one team you can't overcome, or a team struggles for a game or two, but plays well enough to still get by then gets some momentum. Meanwhile #1 and #2 in the East Region are out - Villanova and Virginia. I actually had Virginia losing to Michigan State in my bracket, but I had Villanova in my Final Four.
  2. Arkansas and Louisville barely squeezed by in their first games. I was really rooting for Wofford, too.
  3. Not against Notre Dame!
  4. Fun fact: Me and my girlfriend road tripped to Myrtle Beach for a few days. On Friday, we ate at the same McAlister's as the Southern Miss softball team in Monroe, Louisiana. Since it was [Mean Green] Friday, I was topped in UNT gear.
  5. Meanwhile, another SEC team is struggling - just turned on this Arkansas/Wofford game. Very good game.
  6. LSU misses their last 12 field goal attempts, 6 free throw attempts.
  7. My heart sank as Anya got the roll on that hookshot.
  8. I love all the creative statistics the athletics department makes up to try to make us feel good. Considering we're only going to play 15-17 home games a year, is 7th most home games in a season (10) really that impressive?
  9. My bracket looks terrible. I have Gonzaga losing in the first round to the NDSU Bison who upset Oklahoma last year - that's my boldest call. I had 10 Ohio State defeating 7 VCU which they did. I had 13 Harvard defeating 4 North Carolina - The Tar Heels had been inconsistent all year and Harvard has won a game in two straight NCAA Tourneys as a double-digit seed. The Crimson even had a two-point lead in the last minute after a furious rally, but UNC won on a 2-on-1 fast break layup. I had 9 Purdue defeating 8 Cincy - another incredible game that did not work out in my favor. I had 12 SFA defeating 5 Utah - close game but not over. I have 14 Albany defeating 3 Oklahoma - Oklahoma got upset last year and Albany came close, I believe. I have 11 Davidson defeating 6 Providence. I finally had Notre Dame defeating Kentucky down the line. My Final Four: Notre Dame, Wisconsin, Villanova, Georgetown. Villanova wins it all.
  10. His Tigers are looking pretty good against the higher seeded NC State right now, too.
  11. Does this mean we technically beat Iowa State?
  12. Benford trying to preserve the game (and his career I wish) by keep burning timeouts. Just let it go already... I need to stop watching. But this performance is like a car wreck, I can't turn my head away.
  13. We have 10 points in 13 minutes.
  14. Assuming North Texas loses tonight to Rice, Benford doesn't deserve a 4th year.
  15. Game's over, we should just tank for the rest of the night. It's worth a try.
  16. What is worse? Greer and McNulty's combined passing effort in Austin this year, or our conversion rate on alley oops this season?
  17. And a turnover right after a timeout...
  18. Jeremy has been hustling all night long, how many offensive rebounds does he have already?
  19. Nice pass from Voss to Combs!
  20. http://collegebasketballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/11/fius-dennis-mavin-banks-in-half-court-shot-to-beat-utsa-video/ Here's a recap that has a video (or at least Vine) of the buzzer beater. Ridiculous shot, has to be SC Top 10 and I'm not even exaggerating. I think I was better at half court heaves than regular 3-pointers in high school, but how Dennis Mavin had to adjust mid-air to avoid the UTSA defender, amazing. Probably the best highlight in the whole 10-seed's season.
  21. Considering UNT has only three NCAA Tournament berths in their history, I don't think Benford will need a ticket to the Big Dance to save his job next year. (Although it would be nice, what else am I paying tuition for?) However, I think he needs to hover more around the 20-win range in the regular season then a deep conference tourney run. I don't think another 16-16 or 15-17 campaign will cut it. At least it won't for me.
  22. Not surprised in the decision, but still believe Jeremy is an amazing athlete. I can't wait to see what the next three years (assuming he doesn't run off either) has in store. He and his teammates both know he's a weak link at the charity stripe, I hope he puts in the time this offseason to fixing it.
  23. North Texas 65, Rice 56. As long as we guard from the 3-point line.
  24. With the majority, I don't see anything more than a second round loss and a 15-17 season. If we had at least beaten UTSA, I might be more optimistic. I would love to be proven wrong, but here's to another middle-of-the-road season!
