  1. First (1,216) and third (833) highest attendances in the young stadium's history the past few days. Don't expect the same crowds for Texas Southern and PVAMU but hopefully wins to get us back to .500.
  2. Injury bug also hit in Game 1:
  3. Tie the game up with 11 minutes left just to give the game right back before the PA guy can even announce our goal. Life of a North Texas fan. Same thing happened last year against SMU.
  4. Still better than an NAIA or D2 team, IMHO.
  5. I believe we could technically schedule five more nonconference games since our MTE is only two games, I'm sure we'll only get four more though. Two more at home would put us at the standard 15 total for the year. Can we finish the schedule without stooping down to D2 or NAIA level? Let me repeat how disappointed I am there seems to be no interest from at least one of the parties in keeping the UTA series alive. The women already stopped playing them last year. Additionally, they aren't on the schedule for volleyball after we participated in their nonconference tournament in 2023. If the series isn't extended in softball, I will be worried there's some sort animosity between the schools. So what about the NCAA Tournament auto qualifiers from the lower end conferences? Could we get teams like Stetson, Montana State, Longwood (probably not since we took one of their players), Oakland, Saint Peter's, Howard, Wagner, Samford, McNeese, or Grambling? I wouldn't even sweat agreeing to a home-and-home with a team like McNeese and Grambling since it'd be an easy road trip. We seem to have an affinity for Mississippi Valley State, but if our only other option is NAIA/D2, then I'd be calling up their conference mates like Alcorn State and Jackson State who also schedule nonconference almost completely on the road.
  6. Update: we're at 43 total group tickets for the game in two blocks with a $27.50 price point or $37.50 price point. PM me if you're going up to Lubbock!
  7. Update: we're at 40 group tickets for the game and tickets are only $13 each. PM me if you're still interested in coming out.
  8. Couple of crows shots from the record attendance. Maniacs and athletic department did a great job of implementing the game into First Flight Week programming. A lot of pomp and circumstances with the dance team, cheerleaders, and flag runners in action, too. Maniacs and students were loud and chanting all 90 minutes. Curious if this much effort will continue into this weekend against Bama, who lost 3-0 to TCU last night.
  9. Nope, this is the first time in school history we've had 7 true home games played in Denton, America.
  10. First half thoughts: we continue to play passive against bigger name schools. Down 1-0 and no serious shot attempts. They announced a current soccer stadium record 1,216 in attendance, and an all-time soccer record of 647 students.
  11. Add this doable league slate to our nonconference games: home against Lamar, Washington State, South Alabama, and at Western Michigan. If we don't make a bowl game next year Morris should be fired. And I currently have no ill feelings towards his job status.
  12. Good home opponents (we will have 7 total home games next year). Definitely going to plan for Rice on the road, optimistic about either Charlotte or Birmingham.
  13. Reminder you can still get an Olympics sports pass for only $82. It gives you a GA ticket to every soccer, volleyball, and softball home game in 2024-25. Last year that would have included 49 games! https://meangreensports.evenue.net/event/MIS24/OSP
  14. I just talked about this yesterday. In July Ross told me that 2023 was the last year of the series, and he wasn't sure if it would continue. The matchup didn't seem like a priority last year considering the date it was played. This close to the season, if the series were to be renewed I would have imagined we'd have heard something by now. Disappointing to me, I was looking forward to taking over College Park Center with green.
  15. We've got 30 in our group coming from all over. Will it be just you or is your better half joining as well? I can add more people to our group for the same $13/ticket price. Where are y'all coming from? Feel free to PM me.
  16. The one thing I'm disappointed about is that it appears the UTA series is not being renewed. I didn't know last year was the last year of the series until Ross said so at the caravan. But even last year it appeared to be a low priority since it was scheduled on the Saturday after Christmas. Can we get one Texas team to play us every year?
  17. Definitely need to beat them if you consider Bama will be a tougher game. Going 0-2 would give me premature bad feelings of "this is just like every other year." But Hedlund seemed good about the talent we retained and brought in, especially compared to the rest of the conference.
  18. If this is a learning experience to beat OU Thursday when it really counts, it will be worth it.
  19. This is the series he said they were close to locking down at the kickoff event. I'm glad it worked out. While the date might hinder student attendance, it seems far enough from Thanksgiving to not impact alumni attendance.
  20. I'll make sure future threads get on the Mean Green Athletics subforum, but thought for the occasion it'd be worth to post it here: Mean Green Sports are back this week!! Come out and support the women's soccer team on Thursday and Saturday at 7pm against OU and Bama AT HOME!!!!
  21. News of a 2021 hazing incident and trespassing from April in the same week. The timing of this stuff coming out is fishy to me.
  22. Not disagreeing with you, or even playing Devil's Advocate, just answering your question... isn't this the game we redid the Joe Greene commercial and unretired #75 for one night? I recall that getting some attention from non-UNT people on Twitter, especially when they unveiled the throwback jerseys.
  23. I wish one sports video game - whether it's football or basketball - would make a realistic championship celebration where the field/court is flooded with media and family members after the game.
  24. Who knows how accurate this list is, but more to talk about. Notice Buggs' school is on the list. According to the poster all of these schools need primarily home games.
