  1. "According to a study by Nielsen, 92% of consumers trust recommendations from friends and family over all forms of advertising."
  2. Think Morris just got confused and forgot he's not supposed to throw to the guys in purple anymore.
  3. I agree about the students. I think there will be a great showing from them. The Maniacs have turned a corner this summer. It's proven by the fact that women's soccer was standing room only for a game on August 15th - before the school year even started.
  4. BYU had a good showing in Dallas. SMU is lucky all the ACC teams coming to Dallas this year are red and blue so their fans can blend in together. If the game's on mute, an idiot might think it's a stadium full of SMU fans. The only ACC game with opposing fans that will stick out is Cal's blue. But they won't bring many fans.
  5. Unrelated to SFA, but could someone explain to me how many new women's teams/scholarships we'd need to bring back baseball because of Title IX?
  6. I would love for us to win by 5+ scores, run up the score on them like they did North American University, and for our defense to hold them to 14 or less, but it hasn't happened much in our FCS games lately, not really since the Mason Fine days. We haven't held an FCS team to single-digit points in ten years: 2023, ACU: W, 45-31 2022, Texas Southern: W, 59-27 2021, Northwestern State: W, 44-14 2020, Houston Baptist: W, 57-31 2019, ACU: W, 51-31 2018, Incarnate Word: W, 58-16 2017, Lamar: W, 59-14 2016, Bethune Cookman: W, 41-20 2015, Portland State: ***REDACTED*** 2014, Nicholls State: W, 77-3
  7. SFA will put up an ACU-style (vs. UNT, not Tech) fight but still not enough. We will put the game away in the second and third quarters while giving up some garbage stats in the 4th. Mean Green 45 Lumberjackoffs 27 Attendance 21,689
  8. Bonnie Brae has been closed for a while. They are finally working on widening the street to a four-lane divided road south of I-35, which will make the Mean Green Village look a lot nicer when its done. If only they had built the grandstand for the new soccer stadium on the opposite side of the field (next to the street) so fans aren't looking into the sun, AND, so they could have painted all of our soccer team's achievements on it for passersby to see. Could have hung banners of the players too.
  9. I feel the best-case scenario for the AAC is if the ACC keeps it together and doesn't need to backfill. If the American survives long enough, maybe any of OSU/Wazzou's hopes of rebuilding the Pac-12 dies and there is more motivation for them and the best MWC schools to merge and become a "best of the rest" superleague kinda like the Big XII is aspiring to be with the Power 3/4. A 24-team, truly "American", coast-to-coast Athletic Conference could look like: AAC West Air Force Boise State Colorado State Fresno State Oregon State SDSU UNLV Washington State AAC Central Memphis New Mexico North Texas Rice Tulane Tulsa UAB UTSA AAC East Army Charlotte East Carolina FAU Liberty Navy South Florida Temple If this were to happen, the MWC would be left with Nevada, SJSU, Utah State, and Wyoming. Perhaps, Hawai'i rejoins as a full member, then you could backfill with the FCS powerhouses: South Dakota, SDSU, North Dakota, NDSU, Montana, Montana State, and Idaho. I didn't take away any teams from the American since that's who would absorb the leftovers in this hypothetical, but I wouldn't mind relegating Tulsa and/or Rice back to CUSA in exchange for a couple more programs in the MWC that care more about athletics, or even UTEP. At one point, I entertained adding some A-10 programs as non-football members to get mainly our basketball member count up to 16 or 18, but I think now I'd prefer to only pursue programs who will be full members. Adding several non-football members like Dayton, VCU, Richmond, etc. I think would only add to the randomness of the conference. Us and the other CUSA refugees have big markets to our advantage, but I think going forward the name/brand, and the quality of the teams, and number of fans is more important.
  10. The Wyoming game is the one Mosley specified that the AD is aiming for the first stadium sellout. I think this is just coach speak to get the SFA fans excited and reason to attend/watch.
  11. We will play in San Marcos in 2026, and they will return in 2030. I'll be interested to see how much more conference realignment has f**ked things up by that 2030 Denton game.
  12. Yeah I'd like to know the reasoning. I was very impressed with South Alabama's stadium. They implemented their school colors with the seating very nicely.
  13. Looks like the seats have finally been installed.
  14. My thoughts: I would take this as a men's schedule right now. No D-II or NAIA games. Notable teams we will play include Oregon and Houston. However, only one team on the schedule (at Santa Clara) had a winning record last season, so we will have the chance to stack wins and notch a few against P6 programs.
  15. 43 tickets sold through our group alone so far. Imagine our allotment through the ticket office would sell out for a big game, but nothing stopping Tech fans from buying those seats. I also heard the band isn't coming up.
  16. Once we left points on the board at the end of the half, this would have been a game Seth would have lost.
  17. I will be nicer than many here about the defense. They still aren't good. But they are better than Game 1 last year. While they gave up a lot of yards, they had key stops. Three three-and-outs in the first four seconds half possessions after no stops in the first was huge. I wasn't optimistic trailing at half with USA getting the ball first. Also, we didn't give up too many big plays, and we didn't look embarrassingly bad too often like we did against Cal.
  18. Starting around noon for fajitas.
  19. That is correct. But I'm not sure if the winner of that second matchup would technically win any type of championship as it's only two games that weekend.
  20. We are up to 36 in our group for the South Alabama game, but reminder if you're interested in going to any of the road games in 2024, reach out to me as I plan to coordinate group-discounted outings for every game (though I think I'll only be able to make 4/6). 8/31 at South Alabama: https://forms.gle/KS1Yk2K1DLVrd7Lk8 9/14 at Texas Tech: https://forms.gle/kAKdzaZPvQVavxYP8 10/12 at FAU: https://forms.gle/HmhZ5DmZMk31XFJ37 10/19 at Memphis: https://forms.gle/bHpdVVUE4wxFFYZc9 11/15 at UTSA: https://forms.gle/A2KjBrVmmAEqXfXf6 11/30 at Temple: https://forms.gle/HVy8GsE4CfQmLGWo9
  21. Didn't see this shared the other day. Looks like the new rivalry with Northern Iowa continues.
  22. UTSA did it: As did UTEP:
  23. The soccer ladies get back to .500 after defeating Prairie View A&M 9-0. Rachel Roebuck becomes the 9th player in program history to score four goals in a game. Not sure how this is a D-I goaltender.
