The new normal for the "Any Coast Conference."

Due to weather, this week's tournament in Arlington may be the closest we get to a home opener before our game against Oklahoma State on March 5th. After every other UTA program decided they no longer wanted to play us, kudos to softball for being the outlier. However, they decided for this year's Arlington game to be a Thursday 1pm game to try to avoid the heckling of @untcampbell, @FirefightnRick, myself and a few others. Joke's on them - I've got the afternoon off this Thursday and look forward to my first softball game of the year. Schedule Tournament Participants School Wins Losses Notes North Texas 8 2 You already know. Incarnate Word 4 6 UIW and UTA already played in Incarnate Word's tournament where they split two meetings. Three of UIW's four wins were in that tournament. This past weekend, their only win was a 16-10 thriller over Pitt in Houston's tournament. UT Arlington 4 7 UTA started 4-0 in UIW's tournament. After losing to UIW, UTA got swept in LSU's tournament. They got outscored 37-4 in five games to #7 LSU, #18 VA Tech, and #21 Northwestern. Northwestern State 1 8 Their sole win was a 4-3 extra-inning victory over Memphis this past weekend. Memphis, under a new head coach, loaded their opening tournament with cupcakes to start 5-0. Yale 0 0 This tournament will be the open of their 2025 campaign. They were 20-26 in 2024.

This game was already scheduled to start at 5PM. Let's see if it's actually played due to the weather. If the game actually happens Tuesday, I've got a season ticket that I can send someone who can attend - the game is already sold out.

The American has always had at least two tournament bids in its short history, right? I could see Pernetti and the Memphis AD making a deal - conference tourney in Memphis the next three years, but the Tigers can't win.

Love it! I said before this weekend I'd be happy with a 3-2 split in Starkville, and we walked out with another four wins in five games, matching the program's best start through 10 games. Though we beat Georgia Tech a couple years ago, I was unsure how we'd do with our less experienced roster. Plus, looking at Tech's results through the first games of the weekend, they put up 27 runs on Friday against SIU and Bradley. Additionally, Southern Illinois's record is not good yet, but they've played a tough schedule and are coming off of a 44-11 season.

UNT up 5-0 on Bradley through four of Game 4. Bradley has four errors, looks like all the runs are unearned.

First two homers since the first day of the season. First not hit by Bearclaw. Good to see for Sparks and Conley.

Whatever happened to Childers at the end of last season sadly hasn't been fixed over the off-season. Kayleigh Smith looks like she will become the #3 option.

I am encouraged by the five runs... looking at last year's schedule. We played 10 games against Power 5 conference teams. We went 1-9 and got outscored 82-18, getting shutout four times.

Aaaaaaand it's gone. Mississippi State responds with four runs, highlighted by a 3-run bomb, in the bottom half. 10-5 Bulldogs going to the fifth.

Maybe not! More small ball has us down 6-5 going into the bottom of the 4th (MS ST side of the inning). We've scored on a single, throwing error, single, and 2-run single from Sparks.

Skylar (2-0) goes the distance as UNT finally holds onto a 7th inning lead. Southern Illinois was able to add a pair in the fifth to make it a close, 4-3 victory for the Mean Green, who improve to 5-1. #19 Mississippi State at 2pm on SEC Network+.

UNT falls behind to Southern Illinois, 1-0, before Cierra Simon hits a loaded bases clearing double to take the lead. Then Simon scores when Bearclaw reaches on an error. 4-1 Mean Green after three innings.

Smaller arena than the Pit and they still have to curtain off their upper level. Wish we got to take over their arena again this season.

My only complaint about our production is the crowd noise. I wish we'd turn the crowd mics up. I definitely commend our commentators, especially Youmans. I think he does a great job calling a neutral-sided game. Mark Followill is a great UNT grad to look up to who does the same.

The green jerseys will make their season debut Sunday.

Memphis with the easy dub to Tampa, improving to 11-1. I am fine with the 2 seed. Give me a Friday 6pm start over 12pm game!

If the standings held up, we'd be playing the winner of Tulsa/Temple on Friday, 3/14 at 6 p.m. in the conference quarterfinals. Honestly I would like our chances against either opponent in that scenario.

All I can think of is the UNT Night at the Dallas Mavericks. I have one or two of those hats.
