With his time at Missouri, he has to be related to Barry, right? I like the hire. Hopefully he can help Caponi adapt more.

We should be focused on recruiting the portal over HS. Players can't portal out again until they graduate. As soon as a HS recruit in our program player shows potential he's offered $ by larger programs. The way for us to retain players is kill the portal opt-out by recruiting more mature, college-experienced transfers from the beginning.
Not the rules any more. Looks like guys can transfer as much as they want now.

Yet we keep offering offensive talent. I am going to be pissed if this defense isn't addressed along the line. I don't get it. It's not like they didn't know Moore wasn't coming back, yet we sign the WR from Allen. We need the help now for Spring ball. Might they move Vailea to back up Brown?
The kid from Allen is a PWO and they are moving him to safety. But I agree with your concern about DL

Our DL and LB situation scares me to be honest. We don't have many new faces and this group struggled last year. I'm hopeful Shipley and JJ Jean Louis pan out. However, they are wild cards at this point. We better pray to the football gods that Rod Brown stays healthy. Right now we don't have another experienced guy to play Nose.
DE- Jake Shipley or Vic Alobwede
DT- Rod Brown (no clue who backs him up now)
DE- Fatafehi Vailea or Kortlin Rausaw
LB- JJ Jean Louis or Jaylon Smith
LB- Jordan Brown
LB- Ethan Wesloski
I agree with @MeanGreen13 on this one. We have several young LBers on the team. I am optimistic they will get the best 3 on the field and be improved from last year.
The defensive line scares the 💩out of me at the moment. I thought the needed to go out and add 2-3 285-310 Lb juco dl prior to Moore leaving. Now they are extremely low on numbers and size. We aimed for the stars right out of the gates. Going after 2 juco guys that went P5… then didn’t go after anymore. I felt like there was a handful of guys we could have got that would have been better than nothing. That is my biggest complaint at the moment. @Sanoe Valente and I are podcasting tonight and I will go into more details.

The Athletic Department has updated the North Texas roster for spring football.
Two notable subtraction from the defense are Marcus Moore and Phil Hill. Moore played in 11 games last season. He finished the year with 17 tackles. Hill had 43 tackles last season. Hill retired from football due to injuries.

Then what did we offer to beat that? And is it safe to assume Rogers was not staying for that amount?
I do not have any knowledge of what we offered. Just know it is nowhere near his biggest offer. He choose North Texas for other reasons besides monetary gains. He talked about those in his interview with us.

How did u come up with that number?
I assume you read someone's post, but how likely is it to be accurate?
That is what they offered Chandler Morris. He had another 6 figure Mountain West offer but it came with a car as well. It came directly from Chandler. I am fairly confident it is accurate.

Maybe we could get Finley away from WKU if Morris leaves.
WKU had an NIL budget of 6 figures for a QB.

JD, I believe that you missed a HUGE transfer. Tre Bradford, a highly rated running back who transferred from LSU, isn't on the list. He is a four-star athlete from Lancaster. I believe that this is his last season of eligibility and I expect him to be the featured back this year along with Minnesota transfer Zach Evans. Also Shipley, Chandler and Morris have been confirmed by 247 so I'd guess that the gray could be covered with green now.
I posted earlier in this thread that I accidentally forgot Bradford. The others were gray because when I had posted this the school had not announced them. The school still haven’t announced Morris and won’t until after spring.

I have not been the biggest fan of Caponi, but if your boss is not going to give you the tools to do your job correctly it makes it an uphill battle. If having the worst defense in football didn't shake up Morris and have him focus on adding players then I don't know what will.
This is not the case IMO. You must look at who left. For instance, if you have 12 Linebackers. Only one linebacker leaves you cannot go out and bring in 8 linebackers. You only have 85 scholarships to play with. They must be equally divided up. I am putting together a list of who left and who replaced them. I think it will help visualize the reasoning behind the additions.

We will have around 15 on scholarship next year. We lost 8 OL to graduation and the transfer portal.
The following OL are going to be seniors.
Paula V
Gabe Blair
Jett Duncan
Larry Moore
So the long winded answer is yes.
Not to mention we were told we were 5-7 scholarships ol short when Morris arrived

Forgive me if I don’t trust Craponi’s judgment. He has not yet earned our trust based on his decision making and performance to date.
I didn't ask you to trust him.

Robbery and getting kicked off a Lane Kiffin team are some pretty strong warning signs.
Isheem had his best season with Coach Caponi as his postion coach. I am sure Caponi knows his character and if he can trust him better than anyone.
