Per sources Arizona State transfer Tarik Luckett is in Denton for his OV to North Texas. Luckett has one remaining season of eligibility after spending one season as a backup cornerback at Arizona State.
Playing in 11 games primarily on special teams, Luckett had five tackles with one pass breakup in 2022.
North Texas could be his fourth college. He started two games as a freshman at Colorado before later dropping down to Cisco College in Cisco, Texas, and later bouncing back up to the Pac-12 at ASU.
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Luckett started at cornerback against Stanford and UCLA for Colorado in 2019. He had eight tackles, two pass breakups and one quarterback hurry in that season.
In 2019 he was a four-star prospect as evaluated independently by 247Sports, No. 40 at wide receiver and No. 40 in California.

It seems that the number of podcasts covering UNT sports is growing (or I am becoming more aware of them). Which is your favorite one and why?

The Green Room
Mean Green Show
Mean Green Nation (MGN)
I admit I listen to them all. I think each are unique in their own way.
1) The Green Room - Colin and @Matthew Brune have such great chemistry. They are both young, hungry and a fun listen. They also have a super star guest line up. Wren Baker called in live to one of their shows. How do you top that?
2) Mean Green Show - @Sanoe Valente is the best interviewer in the bunch in my opinion. Used to have the best hair but he sold out and got it cut. He also does a great job of bringing in rivals as well to get other team/fan basis’ perspectives.
3) Mean Green Nation - @Aldo(football) and Greg (basketball) are the best in the business in breaking down film and doing game previews and reviews.
4) Gomeangreen - @Harry is a mix between Oprah and Joe Rogan when it comes to moderating a podcast. @GMG24 should be on a college campus getting paid to evaluate talent. He is second to none when it comes to scouting incoming guys. The JD guy says amazing and absolutely way too much.

I appreciate the different perspectives. I’ve really enjoyed the recent increase in interviews. I’d like to see more coaches interviewed, but I don’t know how possible that would be. Keep it up, guys!
Gomeangreen has a coach coming on this week!! 👀👀👀

Another nice interview. I also liked that one of the first things Rodney mentioned was academics.
Three things from these last two interviews- Both players referenced returning to their High School to speak to players and wanting to give back to the communities.
- These players seem eager to prove they belong at the FBS level.
- Both players will be here at the start of the summer*
Some people have historically worried about JUCO players, but this could be a very productive pipeline in this new Portal and NIL world. It also seems this staff is placing a high value on character.
* @TheReal_jayD Do you know if all of the players we have signed (Transfers and HS) will be here at the beginning of June?
I believe that is the plan. I haven't heard any different

Help JD!
I'm getting a mixed message here. On one hand the new recruit seems to be Makhi Rice, the Tyler JC WR from Waco LaVega. On the other hand I'm also led to believe that it's James Burns, the transfer WR from Austin Peay. Both are 5'8", 155 wide receivers. Which one is the commit referred to by Coach Morris?

I’m oddly not too excited by this commitment. I hope you’re right and I’m wrong.
I was not too excited about Mazin and Horton last year. Was super excited about Tommy Bush. Moral of story is not tell anyone my level of excitement until I see them on the field. 🤣

According to sources Austin Peay Grad Transfer WR James Burns is on campus today visiting North Texas.
The 5-foot-8 Burns had a break out season this past year catching 39 passes for 517 yards and 5 touchdowns.
North Texas has had two wide receivers into the portal in last few weeks in Jyaire Shorter and Tommy Bush. North Texas had TCU transfer Blair Conwright on campus last week. North Texas could be looking for the duo to fill the openings in the wide receiver room. Burns has received offers from Troy, UCONN and Jax State since entering the portal.- 5

Breaking: Butler CC LB Chavez Brown Commits to North Texas
in Mean Green Football
Posted · Edited by TheReal_jayD
The 6'3 225 lbs. WR turned LB from Butler Community College committed tonight. Chavez has been visiting North Texas the last two days. Coach Kratch was his man recruiter. Give Coach Kratch and co. for turning over ever rock. This addition gets me excited. Chavez is familiar to the LB position. It was the position he played in HS. He will arrive in Denton on June 3rd with 3 years of eligibility left. North Texas lost alot of production at the LB position. Coach Caponi and Coach Kratch have choosen the Juco route to try to fill that void. North Texas has add Blinn JC LB CJ Garnett as well.
