I'm actually surprised and proud of that stat. Not a lot of programs can say that.

I grew up a diehard Texas fan (born and indoctrinated in Austin), but always heard my grandfather yelling about North Texas State games (he refused to change the name of the university in his head.) Came to a junior year preview night during the last season in fouts. I believe I remember seeing them get destroyed by Troy then. For some reason I got a kick out of the "Time to lock the gate" rap and monicor (attracted my inner white suburban character). Anyways since that year I was just hooked and never let go. Not sure how or when I stumbled across this message board, but it's been a blast. I'll be graduating this spring and hope to contribute all I can to this wonderful university, even with RV in charge. The man's sweater vest will live on forever.

A couple of broken hearts I believe.

it's doesn't exclusively have to be business and I assumed passion was a given. Just an example degree that UNT offers. We can bring in a music theory doctorate student as long as they can turn this sinking ship around while screaming Go Mean Green from the rooftops.

Yes please. He'd bring in the "offense of the future" mindset.
-
Didn't UT just hire an alum for the interim AD? I believe he received his law degree from them. Anyways, if you could get a North Texas grad in there with a business degree that gave a damn about the university, things could happen. I hope.

We need 3 more of those passes.

Alrighty then. Let the blowout begin.

Going to be a long season.

McNulty has my attention. Was that a designed QB run?

http://www.stream2watch.co/sports/football/north-texas-mean-green-vs-rice-owls-live-stream-september-19 Ignore all popups (should be self explanatory, may not be the most legal route, but it's another option.)

I know, while students are disappointed about last week, there's still a nice buzz of excitement around campus. I know students will turn out.

I would too, but should that be the level of excellence he should be shooting for?

There's one thing I'll never forgot during my freshman year at North Texas (2012): It was during the homecoming pep rally on campus and RV was addressing the audience. His almost exact quote was "The Texas Tech's of the world have had their times, it's North Texas' turn to rise up." At the time it got me excite, but later looking back on it, was this the pinnacle he aimed for in his career? Does RV only want to be as good as Tech? I do not want someone running the athletic department at MY university who's ultimate goal is to imitate a small watering hole in godforsaken Lubbock, TX. (No offense to anyone on the board who lives out there.) I hope for, I demand someone with the enthusiasm to take North Texas to an elite level, anything less than that is unacceptable.

In all seriousness, let's do it.

I'll throw in $100. Who's in?

What we need is a pissed off billionaire donor to tell Smatresk to pull the trigger. If only...

I worked at Jimmy John's for two years. I have nothing against the company. Great stuff. Wonderfully funny post though. -

As a fellow senior, I completely agree. I'm tired of being ashamed of results. I'm proud of Denton and almost every aspect of UNT. We need to get this athletic ship turned around with a competent and excited AD. I want something to brag about and eventually donate to. -
Can we just start a GoFundMe campaign for buying out contacts?
-
I'm willing to believe Smatresk has the guts to pull the trigger on RV. However, if he doesn't by next year, all hope is lost.

David Morgan is an absolute beast. Carrying his tacklers across the first down marker.

Just saw on Facebook that the student ticket allotment is officially sold out. Great news!
