Which rules are unlikely to change in the foreseeable future?
NT93 replied to JesseMartin's topic in Mean Green Football
Instant replay official review accounts for a lot of this. In my mind, instant replay was created to keep a team from getting screwed by a horrible call, not to slow a play down to see where the ball was when a players knee hit the ground. Instant replay officials should get about 30 seconds to review the call. If it's not obvious within 30 seconds the play stands as called. Nothing wears me out more that the replay officials spending 3 minutes looking at a play...and then get it wrong. Also, if there is going to be review then review everything. How many times have we seen pass interference calls blown and there's nothing that can be done about it. Judgement call my a$$, basically every call is a judgement call. As you can see, I'm not a fan of instant replay in its current form. -
How Much Had Football Changed?
NT93 replied to MeanGreenMailbox aka TFLF's topic in Mean Green Football
We should start a movement to make America great again. LOL. -
Green tops need either white or green bottoms IMO.

Good on you. I still can't stand the Oregon, Okie St., et al unis, but I'll take a win in a uniform I don't like over a loss in a uniform I do like any day.
-
They should have planned a little differently 3 or 4 years ago because this years unis ain't working out for them. LOL
-
Not just you. I think it would be awesome to play an SEC school in a bowl game.
-
Gotta get one of those. Love it!

To me the green helmet with white SOW is our helmet. Everything else in an alternate. Not saying its necessarily my favorite, just that its the helmet I think of when I think of UNT. I don't mind a "blackout" uniform once a year (honestly those are probably my favorite look), but in general I agree that we should stick with green and white with black as an accent color.

I don't know that I actually posted a prediction on here, but I probably would have gone with 3-9, maybe, just maybe 4-8. In all honesty, I don't think I was being a naysayer I thought I was being an optimist.

I'm burying the lead here because that was a great post by Skipper, BUT according to these rankings UT would finish 4th in The Belt. That hilarious. Not from the standpoint that the rankings are a sham, but from the standpoint that the richest school in America would be the 4th best in the mighty Sun Belt.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.

I expect us to keep playing hard and battling for 4 quarters and then let the winning and losing take care of itself. Having said that, I think the over/under on wins remaining is probably 2.

Different strokes and all that. Not a fan of the gray at all. Tech, TCU. Okie St., Baylor...all bad looks in my opinion. Count me as one behind the times (which in not surprising), but I generally like the black when we wear it.

UNT avg. points scored + Rice avg. points allowed /2 = 30 Rice avg. points scored + UNT avg. points allowed /2 = 21 Seems about right to me

I have no problem with playing one game per season against a major P5 school and I really don't have too much of a problem with this years schedule...except the conference part of it which is out of our control. We got screwed having to play the same teams as last year. No FU schools, no OD, no Charlotte. That's four winnable games and we get none of them for two straight seasons. I'm not going to put in the time to do the research, but I'd say 90% or more of G5's play a top tier P5 every season. All that being said, there's no reason we shouldn't be able to get a home and home with at least some mid-level P5's.

That Army game is looking less and less winnable.

An up-vote just didn't seem like enough for this post. Completely agree on both statements.

This game will ultimately be good for this team, especially Fine. When he gets a few seconds to throw next week against Rice he'll think it's an eternity. I loved the way the team stood toe to toe and didn't back down. Yeah, their defense overmatched our offense, but I felt like our guys kept getting up and battling each and every time. No complaints about the rugby style kicks.

"Striking but understated, strong but subtle and just all-around awesome. And after years of endlessly toying with the shade of green, Michigan State North Texas finally hit the jackpot." Seems to be an apt description of the SOW. I may not be totally sold on our shade of green, but I'd prefer we stick with it and not change the shade ever again.

I was as excited as anyone to see Morris transfer here, but it really does no good to play a senior QB on a bad team...especially if you feel as though the QB of the future is on the roster. FWIW, I highly doubt it's based on his performance last week. If so, pity this wretched fan base because we have some serious "knee-jerk reaction" coaches.
-
Ever heard of "T-shirt fans?" They are, generally speaking, not a hard bunch to identify.
-
So you get downvotes for stating facts??? I bet Davis would say that he was in position to make the play but failed miserably. FWIW, I'm a big fan of Davis, so no disrespect intended. I think he'll succeed far more times that he'll fail this season.
-
My thought at the game was that the ball was in the air forever. I felt as though I could have left my seat and had enough time to make a play on the ball. Anyway, my take as it happened was that Davis just misjudged the ball. I wasn't quite sure if he jumped too soon or exactly what happened, I just thought he misplayed it. Killer play and typical of what seems to happen to UNT.

Ben really went above and beyond on this deal. He picked up 3 jerseys for me (unfortunately I don't know numbers because I'm out of town and won't get them until Sat.). Not sure about the others he bought for, but I'm a total stranger yet he still spent his time to get us jerseys, fronted the money for each jersey, and shipped them to us. That's not an insignificant favor for a friend much less a stranger. Very cool of him and greatly appreciated.
