We have a few things in common here. I'm originally from East Texas (just down the road from C-town), I like the map, and I'm also a bit confused as to how/why we own territory in the Carolinas.

Saw it tonight for the first time. Two thumbs up, especially at night.

I like these unis. Might be better with a green helmet??? Or a white helmet with the SOW? Something just seems a tad "off" to me. Again, I like them, just something that keeps me from loving them.
-
Agreed. Texas Football magazine has us going 6-6 with 3 of the wins being the last three games of the season.

This has to be a look that both the old timers and the youngsters can agree upon. Substitute white pants and white helmets and its still looking good.

Official UAB Game Score Prediction Thread
NT93 replied to MeanGreenTexan's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with those in the 35-24 range. I really hope its worse than that though. -
I would have sworn SMU converted about 90% on 3rd down. Maybe they just converted at about that rate in the middle quarters when they scored 30 points. (Joking...sort of) I agree though, the 3rd downs are our biggest enemy right now. I'm watching the games and I honestly don't even care what the opposition does on 1st and 2nd down because it doesn't matter. Teams are converting 3rd and short, 3rd and medium, 3rd and long...you name it. The bright side is that the defense is holding teams to what seems like a lot of 3rd downs, so that's somewhat encouraging.

Can't disagree. I get it and I realize I'm nitpicking here. I just felt it was obvious that Iowa was willing to let the clock run out. Had they been really trying to score, I would be 100% behind SL. As it played out, I wouldn't have blamed Iowa for punching it in again to make it 38-14. Iowa's perspective being: "You don't want to let us run out the clock then we won't." Again, I get it that he showed his players he believed in them and was doing everything in his power to give them a chance to win the game. But the fan in me sure likes the looks of 24-14 better than 31-14.
-
Off subject, but related to the last 2 minutes of the game: I don't really understand taking the timeouts when Iowa was most likely content to just run out the clock and leave with a 24-14 win. No one has to explain to me why they did it, I understand, guess I just don't really agree. Thoughts?

Too many penalties. Can't convert on 3rd down. Can't stop the opposition from converting on 3rd (or 4th) down. These 3 things will result in a loss most games.

My comments came across much more negative than I intended. I'm a fan of Mason's and wish him nothing but the best. I just thought 5 threads dedicated to praising him after a blowout loss was a bit much. UNTLifer makes a good point though...what if he had struggled in garbage time??? I really think he has a bright future which bodes well for the university. Excellent post, sir.

Honest question: what/where is Stonehill Center?

DRC: UNT aiming to follow lead of C-USA teams, pull big upset
NT93 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Depends on how long you live. -
True. While I think Mason is our best option and possibly has a great future, I'm kind of tiring of the posts showing what a great game he had against SMU. The fact is that most of his stats came in garbage time. No fault of his, but I don't know that he needs (or wants) praise for his "accomplishments."

I thought some of the posts in the "Reconciliation with Mattress Mack" thread were funny, so I thought I'd start a new one dedicated to naming the alleged new indoor practice facility. Funny or serious...either is ok. I've got nothing right now. I'm counting on you guys to provide some entertainment.

I liked Pitt except for the chinstrap. You wouldn't think it would make much difference, but it really took away from the total look for me. Also, I'm not crazy about the fact that Pitt is gold and these unis were bright yellow. I like ours except for the jersey. As a couple of others have mentioned, they just looked kind of dingy. I will say that they look better in the pictures than they did in person.

The Truth seems to be in the middle for me
NT93 replied to MeanGreenHoops's topic in Mean Green Football
Thanks for this info. Both my buddy and I failed to notice if he had open field had the one SMU player not made the play. -
Of this list, I think UNT and Pitt are ok, Oregon and VaTech are terrible, and Houston is the best.

I did need that. I've changed my mind. If Littrell and Company can't become the first team in college football history to go from one win to conference champion in two seasons then they should be fired. All scholarship players should have their scholarships taken away as well because they obviously didn't perform. You know what? This actually goes for every team in college football that doesn't win their conference. If you don't win your conference you SUCK and don't deserve to keep your job.

The grey uni on any team is one of my least favorite looks. That being said, these were probably the best grey unis I've seen. Since I got a "confused" reply, I guess I'll explain. Let's use a beer analogy. I don't like light beer, but Bud Light is the best light beer I've tasted. I still don't like Bud Light, I just like it better than all the other light beers. I don't like our grey uniforms, but I like them better than any other grey uniform I've seen.

I'm not talking about the players, I'm talking about the fans. Mainly those of us posting on this message board. Every team playing college football has the goal of winning a conference championship, but it's unrealistic for most teams. I still see you haven't named even one team who went from 1 win to conference champion in two seasons.
-
So you're saying you don't know of any other team that's ever accomplished what you say should be an expectation from this team? I think you may well be the spouse of Cougar Queen.
-
Name me one team in the history of college football that won 1 game and then won their conference two seasons later. You do realize we were TERRIBLE two seasons ago.
-
Has anyone else considered the possibility that SMU might be a decent team. I don't really think that's the case, but as the season plays out we could find out they're pretty good. I honestly don't expect Iowa to beat us as bad as SMU did.
-
How many teams have gone from one of the worst teams in college football to conference champion in two seasons? That's a pretty unrealistic goal.
