  1. Here's an HSO for you: This hire marks the beginning of the end for the Air Raid type offense. NFL coordinators figure out how to stop it and college coaches (and HS coaches) follow suit.
  2. Fired from Texas Tech and hired by the Arizona Cardinals? Isn't that kind of like getting fired by Sam Houston State and getting hired by Arizona State??? I mean, doesn't the level above usually hire away a successful coach from the lower level. Good for him, but very weird.
  3. I get your point, but I think this says more about HS football in Texas than it does about bowl games.
  4. Too bad he didn't know Jake Fromm was a freshman and the incumbent starter when he signed with Georgia.
  5. Agreed. And a lot of those "experts" also think Georgia should have been in the playoff this year. LSU beats UGA by 20, LSU beats UCF by 8. These results clearly indicate that Georgia should have made the playoffs and that UCF "doesn't belong" in the playoff. Yep, makes perfect sense.
  6. Are you suggesting that the ol' "TEAM me" practice shirts are no longer a thing?😀
  7. Define "too many." It's entirely possible that you are aware of many more players than me, but I only know of a couple who were injured and "lost everything." Jaylen Smith certain lost some money that he'll probably never get back, but he's still doing okay. I guess part of my problem with kids sitting out games is: Where does it end? Or, when does the "I'm preparing for the draft" move up into November? Are all bowl games besides the CFP meaningless? What if an Alabama or Clemson player has a career ending injury next Monday and misses out on setting his family up for generations? Will we then see players choose to sit out the "playoff" games? What are the odds of a player having a career ending injury in his final game? I'd love to see that stat: Total number of players who suffered a major injury in their last college game.
  8. We saw the same thing last year. We've run into two buzz saws with no name recognition, so your average college football fan thinks we are getting hammered by middling teams.
  9. I think it was even more so the way we beat SMU and Ark. Had both of those games been close games that we won, I don't think expectations would have been quite as high (though they would have been elevated). Add to that the way we lost the three games we lost during the regular season and it was unfortunately disappointing when, with a 9-3 record, we should have all been excited about one of the best records in program history.
  10. Lots of opponents say that.
  11. How exactly did USU pull his hammy?? Agree on the 2nd part. I think this was going to be pretty bad regardless.
  12. True. I would much rather have been 4-7...maybe even 3-8.
  13. I'd agree with this assessment. If you consider ALL teams, CUSA is probably stronger than the Sun Belt, but their best teams are better than our best teams.
  14. As I watched our backup QB's throw interceptions today I couldn't help thinking, "This must be the way Arkansas felt against us."
  15. I just heard Chuck Cooperstein talking about it and he said there would need to be a stipulation of some sort where the G5 school basically had to have 2 losses or less. While it irritated me at first, the more I thought about it the more I realized that ALL of the teams in an 8 team playoff should have 2 losses or less.
  16. How do they stack up in the Mountain West?
  17. I fear we may get taken to the woodshed. I hope by about 6:00 Saturday night some of you are reviving this post telling me I was clueless.
  18. Well said, sir. You make a great point about his parents being proud of him. I wish they could see this thread so that they could see the impact their son had on people and what a great ambassador he was for the team/university
  19. This stat and the one about us and Bama being the only teams to have double digit leads in every game are depressing. I'm trying to stay positive because I realize these are a couple of the best back to back seasons in UNT history, but these stats illustrate how close we were to a very, very special season.
  20. We we wore black helmets against Southern Miss and they also had black helmets so...
  21. How are these so different from all the other grey/black combos that we wore throughout the year? I ask because I usually feel like I'm one of the few who doesn't like them and it seems no one likes these. Black: once or twice a year. Grey: never. I've yet to see ANY team wear a grey uniform that looks good...and only a few (including ours) that even look decent.
  22. They did away with the poll system because it was subjective, correct? Can someone explain to me again how they choose the four teams for the playoff? I'd argue it's even more subjective based on the "we want the best four teams regardless of losses, lack of a conference championship, etc."
  23. Prayers and good thoughts for Quinn and his family. *out of respect, can someone edit the thread title with his name spelled correctly?
  24. I agree, and most people on this board probably think it would be fun to watch, but unfortunately we are in the minority. For most people it wouldn't be much, if any, different than North Dakota St. vs. Northern Iowa at Pizza Hut Park for the FCS national title.
  25. That would be like getting a seat at the table in the screened in back porch at my grandparents house when I was kid.
