Not sure that UCF doing it makes it a best practice.

Same as last year. Please no one take this as making excuses because I’m not, but two years in a row of 3 games in a row against arguably the top 3 teams in the conference is doing us no favors.

Should Caponi be fired at the end of the season?
NT93 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Since they got hired in Dec (maybe Jan for Caponi), we have probably paid 22 of the 24 mos of the contract. Just speculation on my part though. -
****OFFICIAL TULANE VS UNT IN-GAME DISCUSSION****
NT93 replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
I agree with everything you said except the part about Texas St being better than us. -
You may be right, but I thought a lot of people were predicting a losing record or around .500. We need to dig up the “Get Your Rear on Record” thread.

I took this as joke…a pretty good one IMO🤣

****OFFICIAL TULANE VS UNT IN-GAME DISCUSSION****
NT93 replied to Coach Andy Mac's topic in Mean Green Football
This! This! This! I said it last week, but if your defense is a liability, you have to try and help them, not put them in difficult situations. I wish we could put together some time-consuming drives like the 16 play drive in the 4th quarter (when, ironically, we needed to score fast). -
Honestly, that’s most, or at least many, bowl teams.

We’re kind of getting away from NIL and getting into total budget, but my question is, and this is a serious question that I don’t know the answer to: Is there a proven correlation between the money spent and wins? I’m talking about comparing P-4 to P-4 and G-5 to G-5.

Green and white👍👍👍

Would you say that Tony Denton was the absolute worst?🤣🤣🤣
-
They punted 6 times, so it’s not like we never stopped them. We punter 4 times and had 3 failed 4th down conversions, so the amount of stops was almost identical. I guess you could argue that the one extra stop they got was the difference in the game.

Should Caponi be fired at the end of the season?
NT93 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Traditional wisdom is that you can take those type of gambles (going for it on 4th down in your own territory, etc.) if you have a stout defense which you can trust with a short field. I just don’t see the wisdom in going for it in your territory if it’s more than 4th and 1…maybe 4th and 2 depending on what yard line you’re on. Even you convert, you’re still 50+ yards away from the end zone. I also don’t agree when we pass up a chip shot field goal to go for it, and that has nothing to do with the defense. I think EM is just a gunslinger who has confidence in his offense (his play-calling ability) so he just pushes the pile of money to the center. Generally, I don’t think it has anything to with the defense, but I think his lack of trust in the defense is why he called the onside kick with over 2 minutes left in the game. I’ve said all that, but now I’ll add: you could very well be correct. -
Should Caponi be fired at the end of the season?
NT93 replied to Jonnyeagle's topic in Mean Green Football
Yes, there were at least 3 times on Saturday that the defense was put in a bad situation: bad snap on the punt, going for it on -35ish yard line, the onside kick. If my defense is a liability, I would try not to put them in difficult situations. -
The off-season can’t get here fast enough

He’s pretty good at it. Five of us got called dum- dums just for replying to Cougar Queen🤣🤣🤣🤣 -
Exactly. You stated this much better than I’ve tried to. Having a big NIL doesn’t automatically make you a playoff contender or even a conference championship contender.

Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Friday FBS Games - 10/22 to 10/25

Turned on the TV, saw these uniforms, watched about 5 minutes, decided SHS vs FIU wasn’t worth the torture of the uniforms. You’re wearing uniforms based on a TV show? Ugly uniforms to make it even worse. -
Thanks for quoting me when 5 other people have quoted “that jackass.”

You’ve got to work on your trash talking. Three of the teams you listed (AZ, Baylor, and Utah) are ranked below Tulane and one of them (KSt) beat Tulane by a whopping 7 points.
-
My point is that you can win without a big NIL based on these rankings. I listed SHS because I believe their NIL is probably near the bottom of all G5, but yet there they are…ranked. Yes, I’ve seen Army’s schedule, even made a post about it.
-
Call me stupid without calling me stupid. Do you seriously think (1) I couldn’t figure out that this is a G5 poll and that (2) I thought ULM and SHS were actually ranked??? You say “aim a little higher,” but ULM is ahead of us, so there’s that. But no where did I say that we should aspire to be ULM or SHS, just pointing out that you obviously don’t need mega-NIL to be successful at the G5 level based on these rankings.
-
I agree. Memphis beat us before NIL so it seems like a weak argument.
-
As I stated in another thread, a loss is a loss as it pertains to conference standings, but not as it pertains to perception.
-
So you have Navy, Army, ULM, and SHS* ranked, but you’re telling me we have to up our NIL game if we want to be any good? *and a few others on that list that I doubt are giving big NIL deals
