  1. What do you mean by “Interesting Entries”? Do you mean players we should be interested in or players that you are surprised to see in the portal?
  2. No doubt some people are coordinators and some are head coaches (Wade Phillips comes to mind).
  3. Nobody in particular, but I’d say someone that comes from out of nowhere that no one expected to be interested in the job. I reserve the right to change my mind, but at this point I think my top targets in no particular order would probably be Skip Holtz, Garrett Riley, and Eric Morris. So, “shockingly good” would be someone better than those three in my opinion.
  4. I think his resume looks better now than it did a year ago. Maybe their wishing the would have hired him. I’m out on Harrell. I don’t dislike him, but I wouldn’t feel good about being him in. His resume looks worse than a year ago.
  5. Every successful head coach was an assistant once. Most were coordinators, but Traylor and McGuire weren’t. If you can get the OC from one of the top ranked teams in the nation, are you going to turn him down?
  6. I honestly go back and forth about whether or not our next coach has to have head coaching experience. One thing I like about Riley is that even though he doesn't have head coaching experience, it would seem that he would have a great consultant in Lincoln.
  7. It seems crazy to me for anyone from UNT to enter the portal until after the hire has been made. How is a player going to feel if they enter the portal and we make a shockingly good hire? It just doesn't make sense to me to not wait and see.
  8. He hasn’t coached high school since 2014, so they didn’t hire a high school coach. No doubt he got a head coaching job pretty quickly, but they didn’t exactly hire Dennis Parker or Todd Dodge.
  9. I hope we do better than this. Very underwhelming hire.
  10. True. Considering there are 40+ bowl games, “most” of those coaches aren’t fired. I’ll say this, it’s not at all uncommon to have an interim coach for the bowl game.
  11. I agree that the coaching position is more urgent, but… I feel this may be true as well. It’s a tough situation, but I hope things have been going on behind the scenes to make it go smoothly.
  12. Putting holes in my theory🤣🤣🤣
  13. I’m not sure you accept or decline bowl invites nowadays. I think you’re just told where you’re going. I guess you could decline after being told where you’re going, but at that point you just wouldn’t go to a bowl.
  14. I could be wrong here, but it seems to me that most coaches who are going to be let go are shown the door before the bowl game, not after. What’s the benefit of having him coach the bowl game?
  15. Wren has known since UAB at the latest that the chances of SL coming back next year were slim, so he likely already has a list of potential replacements. Wren obviously knew that he would be leaving. Hopefully he informed the powers that be of his imminent departure and a list of his replacement is also compiled. If these two things are possibly true, we may not be in as bad of shape as it appears on the surface. Hopefully the hiring process for both of these men has already been going on behind the scenes. That’s my hope anyway. Anybody know any facts or have any insights that have any merit, unlike my theory.
  16. I don’t mind a downvote…whatever, but for whoever gave a puking eagle to my last post: You think what Art Briles did is worse than what Joe Mixon did? People like Joe Mixon are the ones that Briles “didn’t control.” So if my son commits a crime, I’m the one who should be punished? Just odd that you can think someone who actually committed assault against a women is the better person.
  17. This is exactly why I brought up Joe Mixon. Dude knocked a girl out with a Mike Tyson punch which is caught on video and he’s now making millions and being cheered for on Sundays. How is that not worse than what Briles did or didn’t do?
  18. How many more are in attendance if SL isn’t coaching vs. if he is? How much more engaged will you be if SL isn’t coaching vs. if he is?
  19. Joe Mixon is collecting a nice check as well and there is no question about what he did.
  20. I believe both of these are true, which compounds the issue.
  21. If everything about the season was the same except our largest margin of defeat was 10, maybe 14 points, I could probably find optimism with the season, but the beat downs are just demoralizing and all too common.
  22. You still haven’t answered his question. What record did you predict before the season started? Maybe the team didn’t exceed YOUR expectations, but I think Lifer has a valid point that MOST fans predicted less than 7 wins.
  23. You wouldn’t have been watching them play today. or They would have been taken to the woodshed.
  24. You realize the PAC-12 championship was last night. But I’m a little jealous. I might have preferred to have been watching the game you watched.
