  1. My top 4 are Morris, Riley, Fuente, and Holtz…probably in that order. For me, Holtz is definitely #4, but I switch the order of my top 3 a few times a day.
  2. I voted Fuente because I think he’ll be the choice. He’s not my favorite, but I’m warming up to the idea.
  3. Agree. He may just be my #1 candidate.
  4. Has he not strengthened his resume this year? He’s the OC for the #3 team in the nation. That’s pretty solid.
  5. It’s a whole lot different comparing coaching ability as opposed to playing ability. There are a lot of coaches kids who become good coaches because they’ve been around it all their life and they understand the game. I just think it shows a pedigree. Not the reason you hire him, but a feather in his cap.
  6. He’s the offensive coordinator for the #3 team in the nation. He has strong Texas ties. His brother is a successful head coach. I’m sure there are many other reasons, but there are a few off the top of my head.
  7. He should be pretty close to getting that UTSA Associates degree by now.
  8. I may now like Colorado less than I like aTm.
  9. One year at UNT in ‘92-‘93, so let’s call it limited college coaching experience.
  10. Former Carrollton RLTurner and Mansfield Summit head coach. Was OC at Nebraska, Ohio St, Texas, and most recently NC St. I mentioned his name when we hired SL. Always thought he’d be a good fit here.
  11. Do you really think this was done with no thought put into how it might all play out? This decision has been in the making for a month or so. It wasn’t a member of this knee-jerking message board who made the decision.
  12. What do you mean by “Interesting Entries”? Do you mean players we should be interested in or players that you are surprised to see in the portal?
  13. No doubt some people are coordinators and some are head coaches (Wade Phillips comes to mind).
  14. Nobody in particular, but I’d say someone that comes from out of nowhere that no one expected to be interested in the job. I reserve the right to change my mind, but at this point I think my top targets in no particular order would probably be Skip Holtz, Garrett Riley, and Eric Morris. So, “shockingly good” would be someone better than those three in my opinion.
  15. I think his resume looks better now than it did a year ago. Maybe their wishing the would have hired him. I’m out on Harrell. I don’t dislike him, but I wouldn’t feel good about being him in. His resume looks worse than a year ago.
  16. Every successful head coach was an assistant once. Most were coordinators, but Traylor and McGuire weren’t. If you can get the OC from one of the top ranked teams in the nation, are you going to turn him down?
  17. I honestly go back and forth about whether or not our next coach has to have head coaching experience. One thing I like about Riley is that even though he doesn't have head coaching experience, it would seem that he would have a great consultant in Lincoln.
  18. It seems crazy to me for anyone from UNT to enter the portal until after the hire has been made. How is a player going to feel if they enter the portal and we make a shockingly good hire? It just doesn't make sense to me to not wait and see.
  19. He hasn’t coached high school since 2014, so they didn’t hire a high school coach. No doubt he got a head coaching job pretty quickly, but they didn’t exactly hire Dennis Parker or Todd Dodge.
  20. I hope we do better than this. Very underwhelming hire.
  21. True. Considering there are 40+ bowl games, “most” of those coaches aren’t fired. I’ll say this, it’s not at all uncommon to have an interim coach for the bowl game.
  22. I agree that the coaching position is more urgent, but… I feel this may be true as well. It’s a tough situation, but I hope things have been going on behind the scenes to make it go smoothly.
  23. Putting holes in my theory🤣🤣🤣
  24. I’m not sure you accept or decline bowl invites nowadays. I think you’re just told where you’re going. I guess you could decline after being told where you’re going, but at that point you just wouldn’t go to a bowl.
  25. I could be wrong here, but it seems to me that most coaches who are going to be let go are shown the door before the bowl game, not after. What’s the benefit of having him coach the bowl game?
