With SL it wasn’t the wins and losses, it was getting embarrassed in many of the losses. I’m not happy with the losses this year, but we’ve been competitive against the best teams in the conference.

I just don’t like it that we seem to wear black every week. I could easily be wrong, but it seems like last week was the only game this year when we were green and white. I’m not complaining, just an observation.😉

Like the helmet. I guess I’ll stop complaining about the black unis. It’s almost as if no one in the athletic department is reading these threads and my opinion is not being taken seriously.

I almost started a thread titled “An Unpopular Opinion” in which I express my opinion that Morris is the guy that’s going to turn things around at UNT.

It is my understanding that they are ineligible to play in a bowl game since that would be post season.

Of course this is true, but I got so tired of getting taken to the woodshed in the past couple of seasons. 5 losses in each of the past two seasons by 10 points or more, with 7 of those by 20+ points. We've only had our ass handed to us once this year and for that I'm happy. Now that doesn't mean I'm into moral victories, but I'd rather lose close, competitive games like we have in 3 of the past 4 games than to get wiped out. Plus, Navy isn't so good, but Tulane and Memphis are seemingly two of the top teams in what is clearly a better conference. I want to win as much as anyone, but if we're going to lose, I'd rather not get embarrassed.

Agreed. I need to go back and watch the replay, but that ball just seemed to float in the air forever. My seats are right at the goal line, so I had a pretty good view.

From your original post it seems that you think us scoring with 44 seconds left was the worst case scenario. I’m sorry, but if you’re losing, you NEVER waste a chance to score. That’s just ridiculous. By wasting a down (or two), you could have a penalty, fumble, etc. I’ll take my chances every single game with us having a 4 point lead and the other team having to drive 75 yards to win. I have to think we win 8 or 9 times out of 10 in that situation…even with this defense.

Agreed. I kick the field goal every time in that situation.

I thought this as well. Seemed like there was some movement by the DE on the defensive left side.

So you trust our defense to hold them out of the end zone from 25 yards out with unlimited time in overtime more than holding them from 75 yards out in 44 seconds? First time in my life I’ve ever heard that a team would have been better off running more clock and kicking a tying field goal than scoring to take a 4 point lead.

Rice has to be one of the most Jekyl and Hyde teams I’ve ever seen. Beat Houston, but lose to UConn. Lose to USF by 13 and beat Tulsa by 30. So, yeah, I could see them beating Tulane…or losing by 20+.

I would have killed for this team and these opponents at this stadium when I was a student.

Definitely disappointing, but I’d rather play on Saturday’s with these ratings than on weekdays with a little bit better rating. On another note, doesn’t the low rating say more about a ranked Tulane than it does about us?
