  1. If a coach is a 3-3-5 coach, he’s going to run a 3-3-5. I don’t get how people don’t understand that.
  2. That sounds very plausible.
  3. SMU can make a case for easiest schedule as well.
  4. That’s a fact. Should be a good game.
  5. I think they are behind both SMU and UTSA, but the difference in the top 4 is very slim. I’m glad they’re ranked, but no way Tulane is #17 in the country.
  6. Who you got? I don’t like it, but I think it will be SMU vs UTSA. Since we had the misfortune of playing all the contenders on successive weekends, we’ve seen them all. I felt like these two teams were maybe a little bit better than either Tulane or Memphis.
  7. Excellent point. I was thinking there was someone before Peterson, but I couldn’t think of his name and didn’t bother to research. It was Hawkins I was thinking of. I forgot that their success started under Koetter. I do think it’s an interesting question: Did success bring expectations or did expectations bring success?
  8. I know the popular and probably sensible answer is “No”, but I’m torn on this issue. This defense has obviously been bad, but I’d like a little continuity. Seems as though we’re running a new DC through here every year or two.
  9. Speaking of Miami Vice and ugly uniforms:
  10. Serious question because I don’t know and I guess you may not either depending upon how long you’ve lived there. Have they always had those expectations or did the higher expectations come with the success they found under Peterson?
  11. I was going to say the same thing. Probably more to it than wins and losses.
  12. I was thinking the same thing. Kinne’s big wins are against 3-7 Baylor and 6-4 Georgia Southern. Prime has beaten one team with a winning record, 5-5 Nebraska. I’ve never seen a hype train derail so quickly.
  13. Maybe, but they didn’t respond immediately. We forced a punt on their first possession of the 2nd half and then fumbled the ball away a few plays later to set them up with a golden scoring opportunity. After that everything went downhill. Turnovers have been very costly the past two weeks.
  14. Watching this one from home. First UNT/SMU game I’ve missed in about 6 years.
  15. I had a classic one last week. UTSA is lined up to go for it on 4th and inches. They are in the formation where you know it’s a QB sneak and the backs are going to push the QB from behind. Guy behind us yells, “Watch out for the reverse.” I wish I had a picture of the look that had to have been on my face.
  16. I’m not sure the team could either, that’s why I said we might not be in 11th place.
  17. I’m not comparing to last year, I’m comparing to the other team’s schedules in the American. No other team has to play Tulane, Memphis, UTSA, and SMU. Trade out Tulane and Memphis for Charlotte and ECU and we might not be in 11th place. I wasn’t aware that there was a premise that we have been dropped into a world beater conference, but I would disagree as well. It’s definitely better than CUSA, but it’s also down from what it’s been in the past.
  18. The fact is we've played the most difficult conference schedule and it's probably not even close. That being said, if we don't beat Tulsa and UAB, we will have earned our spot in the bottom third of the conference.
  19. The Texas on the helmet would be much better if it were green instead of black.
  20. Anyone else think these have a slight resemblance to the SoW?
  21. I was never a fan of those. Never thought I'd be wanting that to be our helmet, but here we are.
  22. Part of our issue has to be that every year when I look at the 2 deep chart I marvel at how young we are and how we only have a couple of seniors listed. At some point those young starters need to become experienced veterans.
  23. In fairness, Frank Harris was injured against TX St and didn’t play vs Army or Tennessee. Also, since he’s been back they’ve been winning handily, though as you said, not against great teams.
  24. Thanks for bringing this up as I feel like it’s been swept under the rug while we bitch about how bad our defense is. We outgained UTSA. As I stated in another thread, the 3 turnovers hurt us more than the play of our defense. Also, UTSA started two possessions well into our territory because of two of the turnovers. Those two plays were huge for a number of reasons. Probably the wrong thread for that HSO, but there it is anyway. We’ve been close the past three weeks against what I believe to be comparable teams. This week we finally break through. UNT: 36 SMU: 35
  25. I thought the backup looked pretty good against Rice. Seemed like a good dual threat guy that could cause us some problems.
