  1. Appreciate the comments owl40. It seems as though the opposition sees the same thing as many UNT fans. I pretty much agree with your entire post. Take away the first couple of minutes of the 2nd half and today would have been a different game. Only problem for us is that it's becoming a common theme to give up points in bunches off of turnovers. Our defense has been far from great, but fumbling a kickoff and then giving up a pick six is tough on any D.
  2. Here is the answer you seek. I'd include DT to the list not because he was great, but very good and a significant upgrade to anything we can roll out there. I was honestly never a big DT fan, but I don't think were 2-6 if he were the QB this year.
  3. Agree 100%. Why have we wasted their freshman years? What have they gotten, 10 carries each the whole year?
  4. We have a winner!
  5. You, my friend, are a wise man
  6. Then I guess the QB's that were given the starting job ahead of him should have produced and he would kept his rightful place on the bench. I'm no McNulty fan, but it's ridiculous to say he was given the job because of his relationship to the coach. He was 3rd string and neither guy ahead of him was able to keep the job. I'm betting if he has a game like Dajon did against either Indiana or UAB he will be replaced. The Fake Lonnie Finch is spot on: the coaches are sabotaging themselves so that McNulty can play QB? WOW!
  7. I think if he were playing favorites McNulty would have been the starter since the UT game. Be honest, Greer and Williams were given a fair shot and they didn't take advantage of the opportunity. One of my favorites: Player: If you'll give me a chance I'll show you what I can do. Coach: If you show me what you can do I'll give you a chance.
  8. But could RL Turner???
  9. Yeah, I almost put that in my reply. Honestly didn't think about it with my initial post, but I got what you meant At least with Dodge it was due to injury instead of just not having a QB. We basically have (3) 3rd string QB's though I would argue that DW has the potential to be much more than that. McNulty and Greer...not so much.
  10. Sad, but true. We looked like a middle school team that didn't realize the fake punt was an option against us.
  11. Agreed!! Did anyone catch the Dan Mullen interview last weekend? Very appropriate for UNT. Everyone at Miss. St. was saying they needed to win to get fans to the game, but he said it was the opposite. He held the theory that if the fans would come and support the team, give home field advantage, etc., that the wins would come. Could be coincidence, but he seems prophetic.
  12. I wasn't saying we won't win again, but it's a distinct possibility. I left the game yesterday thinking, "We're just not very good." A hard realization for me, but the truth.
  13. That was the craziest, most basic fake punt I've ever seen. He just ran right down the middle of the field untouched. Their coaches obviously saw how we set up for a punt return and exploited it. How were we not even considering a possible fake punt considering their field position?
  14. A little off topic, but if I recall correctly we would have really given them all they could handle if not for a pitiful "excessive celebration" penalty right before the half. Ended up having to kick-off from the 20 and they got good field position and scored before halftime. I agree that Dodge seemed to be dogged with injuries at least one year. We were on our 3rd string QB I believe. How many teams can win with their 3rd string QB? Few, if any.
  15. I agree it's very important to get a win, but I consider a "must-win" game just that, a game you MUST win. If we lose, its still possible to win 6 games and go to a bowl, so I don't consider this a "must-win." I don't mean this as argumentative and to be honest, most people would probably agree with you from the standpoint of the season could really go downhill with a loss. I basically just think "must-win" is overused.
  16. True And true. 41-38 UNT
  17. Who had you rather have at QB? Legitimate question...and sad for UT, especially considering they are from the same recruiting class.
  18. I think it's the tricked up uniforms. Fans don't want to look at that crap.
  19. What did I say to insinuate that I didn't think we'd be an underdog to UAB? My entire post was about Indiana. Someone was talking about Indiana being a mediocre team and I simply stated that they would be at least a 14 point favorite over anyone left on our schedule and that they could probably contend for any G5 conference. How that's a "homer evaluation" is beyond me...unless I'm being an Indiana homer.
  20. They also beat Missouri. And while I'm not saying Bowling Green is a powerhouse, they are 4-2 so they're not terrible. I personally think any bowl game in a rebuilding year would qualify as OK.
  21. While this may be true, show me who's left on our schedule who's not at least a 14 point underdog to this "mediocre team." They are not mediocre by G5 standards. I dare say they would be in position to win any G5 conference.
  22. Winning and recruiting go hand in hand to a large extent. I'd like to see a schedule something like this: AAC school (which will be SMU for the next 9 years) FCS school or G5 also ran (Idaho, NM St., etc) MAC school P5 also ran (Indiana, Vanderbilt, Kansas, etc)
  23. Agreed! Great points. I think IU is a team that will look good one week and not so good the next as they've already shown this year. Unfortunately, we caught them on a good week. As mentioned, they took some chances today that obviously worked out, but could have backfired and made for an entirely different game. Tip of the hat to them for making the plays today. Regardless of how good or bad anyone thinks Indiana is, they are probably the best team we will play the rest of the year.
  24. This. As far as taking chances, as Barry Switzer once said, "Sometimes you have to have a plan for losing." Late in game, down 18 points, what's the point in taking chances that could turn it into a 35 point loss or worse and extending the game? If Indiana didn't punch it in with 30 seconds left (which I thought was pretty bush league), the score would have been somewhat respectable...especially considering the first 5 minutes or so of the game.
