WOW! If I went out dancin' with him I'd be considered the better dancer...and that's saying something.

UTSA's next head coach will be..............Frank Wilson (LSU)

It's a good hire for mid-January. Had the job been opened in early December and this is who they hired I'd have said it was a disappointment. As with all jobs, including ours, time will tell. -
Big 12 Championship Proposal before NCAA today
NT93 replied to ChristopherRyanWilkes's topic in Mean Green Football
Not sure if he said it, but I think it's true. I still think the Big 12 is crazy to play a championship game. I have a better chance of succeeding RV at North Texas...assuming I'm still alive once he decides to hang it up:) -
Big 12 Championship Proposal before NCAA today
NT93 replied to ChristopherRyanWilkes's topic in Mean Green Football
It's ridiculous all the way around. Look at some of the other conference championship games: a team (Iowa, Florida) plays a weaker schedule by getting lucky with their cross-divisional games and they end up in the conference championship when they're probably the 3rd or 4th best team in the conference...at best. While the Big 12's "One True Champion" slogan embarrassed them last year, the concept behind it is true; all teams play one another and it's decided on the field. What would they have done this year, have OU and OSU play on back-to-back weekends? Let's take it to our conference. I'm sure we are the only team in our division that had to play Marshall, WKU, Southern Miss, and MTSU. The rest are playing the Florida schools, Charlotte, and ODU, which is hardly equal. But, I digress as I'm getting off subject. I, too, hope they don't get a waiver on the rule. -
I don't care if it's Cerbus's poll or Bleacher Report and I don't care that 's it's early January, B+ beats a lot of alternatives . I agree the grade really means nothing and it means little more than nothing after NSD, but at this point in time UNT has reason for optimism and that's something we haven't had in while.

Allen High School Head Football Coach is leaving after 14 years
NT93 replied to NTAlum09's topic in Mean Green Football
I first heard the pay raise was $50K, but today I heard $25K, which would seem more likely. Either is pretty significant. My understanding that he made somewhere between $100-110K at Allen. -
I think that's obvious, but it's still interesting to get different perspectives...even this early in his tenure. It will be very interesting to look back on this at various points in his tenure. If Cerebus keeps up the polls as he indicated, it will be fun to see at what point people jump on/off of the bandwagon. Bottom line: It's early January and not much is happening. At least the poll is a talking point, regardless of how relevant (or irrelevant) it might be.
-
Seems as though Cerebus knows it too early to give a grade, but wanted a poll to track how opinions change over time. Though it's normal and expected that we'd be enthusiastic about a new coach, I think most of us are even more excited than normal because of the who we hired and how his staff appears to be coming together. Frankly, I think we made a better hire than other schools that I would consider our equals if not bigger/better than us. I think 90 is pretty accurate, but I hope he is wrong about the "falling off a cliff" after the SMU game. I think most people are at least somewhat realistic as to where the program is at. I mean, I'm called an optimist because I predict a 4 win season next year. The bar is obviously very low and I hope people will base this year on improvement rather than wins/losses.

Haha. Yeah, when The Ticket is on one of it's many breaks.

Listening to Cowlishaw & Mosley a few minutes ago and they were discussing Hyman being out at A&M. Cowlishaw says, and I quote, "It's not easy to keep an AD job in Texas." Now that's funny (or extremely depressing).

First I'm shocked when news comes down that we may be getting a transfer QB from 'Bama. Now we are turning down a QB transfer from Ole Miss??? Let that sink it for a minute. Things have to be looking up for the Mean Green.

That's exactly what I said. Very surprising, but if it's bad for Aggie, it's good for me!

Hey, that gets us the four wins I'm predicting...I like it! LOL -
MGB: Five way-too-early predictions for 2016
NT93 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
I think it's a difficult schedule from the standpoint that we have to play the top 3 schools from the East. I do agree that the OOC is about as good as its ever been as far as games being winnable (or at least not being body baggers). It'd be really nice to have this schedule when/if we have a good team.. While true, I think we will probably only be slight underdogs in most games. No one is a sure win, but there are very few sure losses as well. I think 4 wins is gonna be my personal over/under. More than that and I'm happy, less and I'm a little disappointed. -
I've got those and enjoy a nice craft beer in them almost daily.

Same here. Got to be the first time I ever rooted for OU. The Big 12 was a four team league this year. Baylor won, OU lost and TCU will probably lose given their QB situation. Outside of OSU, no other Big 12 schools should win except maybe WVa. One thing I don't understand about the bowl matchups is that it seems like the SEC gets an inordinate amount of games against the AAC and the weak sisters of the ACC. That's my perception which could be wrong since I haven't really bothered to actually study the bowl matchups.

I must have had a few too many tonight. I swear this thread insinuates that we're getting a transfer QB from 'Bama. HAHAHAHAHA. I'll check back in the morning.

I actually think Longhorn fans feel just entitled rather than having an over-inflated sense of greatness. I think they are well aware that they aren't very good right now, but they think they should be just because, "We're the University of Texas."
-
You're probably correct, but being a walk-on didn't provide Baker Mayfield instant eligibility. I don't know, but I'm loving it:)

LOL. Love it! (Assuming of course that you meant this as a joke and I took it as intended)

True, but remember that Stoops is a Snyder protege. Maybe a small favor to his mentor??

MGB: UNT to face same three teams in C-USA crossover games
NT93 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
Amen Cr1028. I agree that it's good in terms of teams we'll get to see at home, but it's not good in terms of wins. This puts a major dent in my hopes for bowl eligibility next year. It was probably a long shot anyway, but this makes it very, very tough. -

Someone dinged him with a -1 so I think that number is closer to 99% in agreement. Haha -

LOL, That's what you call putting it in perspective.
