  1. I agree with you. I bolded the part about recruiting because I never said it wasn't a small part of the equation. I just happen to believe it's a very small part where some people come across as believing its a major part of recruiting. I don't really mind alternate uniforms per se, I just don't like the crazy, over the top stuff. Thankfully we haven't gone there yet and hopefully we won't. Alternate can be cool without being tricked up and I think our black helmets/uniforms are proof of that.
  2. Again my point is that I don't really think uniforms play that big of a role in where a kid goes to school. Doesn't mean they don't care about uniforms. Doesn't mean they won't go crazy with their teammates when the latest uniform is unveiled. It just means that it's a fairly insignificant piece of the recruiting puzzle. I just think it's ridiculous either way. "I'm not going to Oregon because I don't like their uniforms." Pretty dumb if the Ducks would be a good fit for you. or "I'm going to Oregon because their uniforms are (fill in the slang word for cool)." Also dumb if you are not a good fit at the university. But, hey, maybe I'm just giving these kids too much credit to think they wouldn't base such a major life decision on uniforms.
  3. So you think since they are the only 5 interviewed, they are the only 5 that didn't let uniforms influence their choice? My point was that 100% of the kids interviewed said that uniforms didn't matter. I have to believe that means that it doesn't matter for most kids. Also, you don't think it works the opposite way, where the tricked up uniforms turn kids away??? Or are you telling me 100% of kids like the tricked up uniforms? Just keep the SOW and let it become synonymous with North Texas, UNT, whatever. Quit changing it every 4 years where we never have an identity. Even the schools that trick it up have a logo that's consistent.
  4. Dallas Morning News interviewed 5-6 of the top area recruits and they all said uniforms had no impact on their college choice. I like the SOW. Agree with previous comment about maybe outlining it in black. My main hope is to just get something and stick with it. You want people to recognize UNT, stop changing uniforms every few years. I realize the landscape is a little different now with tricked up/different uniforms every week by some teams, but stick with the basic logo (SOW).
  5. Nothing wrong with Army and SMU. Two teams who are pretty equal to us. I don't like the Lamar, Incarnate World, ACU, etc. I'm all for a winnable game, but can't we make it a little better opponent. I'm for wins, but how much fun is it to go to the stadium to see 77-7? It's nothing more than a glorified practice. I think Arkansas, Tennessee, Iowa are they type of teams we need to be playing. Having said that, I think we may be catching both Tennessee and Arkansas at a bad time. I see both of those teams being pretty good for the next few years.
  6. Rally House Plano.
  7. We have room for an actual D1 QB. Got one of those?
  8. I've always kind of held the opinion that you're either a Hall of Famer or you're not. If you are, you should get in the first time you're eligible. If Biggio wasn't last year, why is he this year? I say that to mean he should have been in last year, not that he shouldn't be in. I understand literally "why" due to the 75% rule, just don't agree with it.
  9. Playing a championship game with a 10 team conference would be ignorant. This year not having a championship hurt them, but will it next year? Probably not often that the favored team wins every championship game as they did this year. If either Bama, FSU, Oregon, or OSU would have lost their conference championship game there wouldn't be a discussion of the Big 12 needing to add a game because Baylor or TCU would have been in the playoff.
  10. 100% correct. Wins versus Texas, WV, Louisville, and Minnesota...not too impressive. Big 10 and ACC showed that they are not as bad as many people (including me) though they were. Not as much disparity between the P5 conferences as I thought. C-USA is the class of the G5's!!!
  11. Unless you're arguing TCU vs Ohio St. SEC was over-rated this year. They had about 5 teams were equal, but none of them were dominant. TCU and Oregon are the best two teams. I think TCU didn't get in because most people (ie the committee) felt like TCU was better than Baylor, but it was hard to put them in when Baylor beat them. If TCu had lost to WV and beaten Baylor, they would have gotten into the playoff...and maybe won the whole thing.
  12. Submit them now...you still might catch me.
  13. Me too, but I just went back and corrected the ones that haven't been played yet. I'd have 273 pts if I'd have filled it out correctly
  14. Not sure which brand, but they are kelly green. No black one.
  15. Field of Dreams in Stonebriar mall has the green SOW mini in stock. They told me they've been trying to get them and ordered all 9 they could find. They have 5 left as of around 1:00 this afternoon. They are $35.
  16. Went to the Frisco location yesterday. Nothing. Literally not a single UNT item. I'll keep supporting the Plano location...and now the Fairview location if I'm ever in that area.
  17. This worries me a little bit. There have been success stories with this type of path through college, but I think most don't have a happy ending.
  18. I'd say they had by far the worst. Too much credit given for the beat down of Wisconsin considering the rest of their "body of work." Just like everyone is ignoring a 35-21 loss at home to Virginia Tech (6-6)? Just like everyone is ignoring the fact that TCU beat Minnesota 30-7* while Ohio St. beat them 31-24? *They called off the dogs in the 4th quarter after being up 30-0 after 3 quarters.
  19. And once again the SEC will have a good bowl record thanks in large part to the fact that they play (4) Big 10, (3) ACC, (1) AAC and (1) against Notre Dame. The have no games vs the Pac 12. They do play 3 against the Big 12 which seems like more than usual. Big 12 only gets (1) Big 10, (1) ACC, and (2) Pac 12. Pac 12 gets (2) ACC, (2) Big 10, (2) Big 12, and Boise St. along with the aforementioned no matchups vs the SEC.
  20. I think someone mentioned it earlier: Most think we are superior to them and that they haven't earned the right to join "our" conference since they just moved up to FBS a couple of years ago. I'd love to have a mostly Texas conference with UNT, UTEP. Rice, UTSA, La. Tech, Tulsa, Tulane, SMU, Texas St. and Houston. Not gonna happen, but I'd like it nonetheless.
  21. We could probably get A&M... Commerce.
  22. So I'm not missing anything??? lol
  23. I think Idaho, Georgia St., NM St. might have something to say about that. Bottom line on the season: Not many teams, even P5 teams, can win with their 3rd string QB. I feel confident in saying that our starter (any of them) would be a 3rd string QB at most FBS schools. I know QB was far from our only problem, but you just can't win consistently with the type of QB we rolled out each week even if you don't have the other issues.
  24. Because you can see everything that's happening. Same reason coaches are in the same type seats. Actually, I may agree with you since you said "pay more money." haha
  25. Serious question: How can Ohio State be ranked ahead of Baylor? Baylor has beaten OU and TCU. Ohio St. has beaten Mich. St. and Minnesota. Most other wins seem fairly equal against mostly average to below average teams. Baylor lost to W. Va. which has lost to Alabama, K. St., TCU, OU, and UT. (All ranked except UT) Ohio St. lost to Va. Tech which has lost to E. Carolina, Pitt, Ga. Tech, Boston College, Miami, and Wake Forest. (Only Ga. Tech is ranked) In my mind these facts are clearly in favor of Baylor. What am I missing?
