Someone had mentioned in a thread wanting some UNT coasters. These are very nice. https://www.amazon.com/Thirstystone-VNTU-HA26-Stoneware-Coaster-University/dp/B003D1242U/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1502247872&sr=8-2&keywords=north+texas+coasters

So you do have a filter. Agreed. And I don't disagree that it's an appropriate place for swearing...to a point. I just think yelling out those swear words for all to hear is inappropriate.
-
So you'd walk into an elementary classroom and talk the same way you do when you're having a beer with the guys?
-
Maybe its dumb, but it's still a social construct. I think Rudy has been pretty clear about it and I happen to agree, there is a time and place for it. I may cuss to my buddy sitting beside me, but I'm not going to yell out for everyone in the stands to have to hear me. I don't think having the words in your vocabulary makes you trashy or disrespectful, but rather not having a filter for when/when not to use them.

And really just being respectful in general. Unfortunately, one thing is true. It's not going to stop

I've been kind of on the fence about this until this morning. I was watching SportsCenter and they showed the University of Tennessee football schedule. As I looked at the schedule it occurred to me that if we were on that schedule listed as UNT, probably 80% of the SportsCenter audience would have no clue as to Tennessee's opponent that particular week. I think we need to be North Texas. The SOW should be the logo. The current shade of green should be the color. Not that I'm love with any or all of those things, but we've basically been using them for a few years, so I'd just like to stick with something for a while.

Some on this board would certainly chose death. lol. -
Agreed, but their record over the last 15-20 years would indicate they are a team we should be able to compete against. Brings up a good point though. You schedule these games so far in advance that a middling P5 when you schedule them could be a Top 10 P5 by the time the game rolls around (see Iowa two years age).

Haha. I do have the script helmet in the mini version if that counts for anything.

Oops. Yes. Thanks for the correction.

It was known as D-II at the time, but yes, we were in the Southland Conference. https://exhibits.library.unt.edu/legends-mean-green/timeline

I agree. I don't have much interest in playing a bodybag game at home. Having said that, I long for the day that we become like Boise St. and we no longer have bodybag games because we can compete with anyone. For now, I'd like to see up play winnable P5 games at home, such as Indiana, Pitt, Syracuse, Purdue, Iowa St., Oregon St., Kansas, Illinois, Colorado, etc., etc.

A bad helmet from my days at UNT, but the one that followed was even worse in my opinion. And the cursive "North Texas" that came a few years later...on my gosh. I thought I really liked the SOW, but maybe it's just because it's way better than anything we've had for the past 25 years.

DRC: Breaking -- Tyler Wilson has officially left UNT's program
NT93 replied to Brett Vito's topic in Mean Green Football
He probably should have gone pro out of HS. I doubt his showing at OU has helped his draft stock...and I feel strongly that his future is NOT in football. -

DRC: Echols-Luper transferring, has interest in UNT

Telling quote IMO. -
Thanks for posting this.

I just in Flower Mound last week for a baseball tournament and almost stopped at that Rally House between games. Now I'm really upset that I didn't.

Agree. I just picked up the new Texas Football magazine and there is an article on Tom Herman. He (accurately) believes that coaching is only part of the winning formula. He strongly believes that the administration has a big part in a winning program. That may play a big role in the decades of losing at UNT.

Best College football coach in Texas poll

Pretty spot on. -
Terrible, but an upgrade over their previous helmets, I think. Maybe?

I can't decide if I'd like this on our helmets, but I'd love it as an accent piece somewhere on the uniform. Maybe use a small version on the back of the helmet??? I'd love to have a t-shirt with that logo. Or maybe on the back of a fitted cap. That logo should definitely be put to use. -

If it's flying outside the football stadium I'd like to think I had enough sense to figure it out. In the link you posted it only took about four posts for someone to associate Denton, Mean Green, and Green Texas Flag. But hey, I know sometimes people aren't very smart, so there is always that possibility. I have to admit I'd be confused if I saw a Blue and White Texas flag flying in Boca Raton. LOL. -

I'm pretty sure if I saw a red and black Texas flag flying in Lubbock I'd be able to figure out that it was a Texas Tech thing. Or maroon in College Station. Or burnt orange in Texas. Or purple in Ft. Worth. You get the idea. I don't have to know what it represents to know it's associated with UNT. -

Side Show Joe answered the question before it was even asked. Impressive.
