"With non conference games against Baylor and TCU, as well as a rematch with the ever improving UNT, the Mustangs will be hard pressed to have a stronger start to 2015 than they did a season ago. But, I also don't anticipate them going 1-11 again, and they have an outside shot to get bowl eligible coming out of the AAC." I anticipate them to crash and burn, and watch North Texas take the W from them in Dallas this year. #SMWho?

"30. Cross-divisional lottery losers: Georgia (draws Alabama and Auburn from SEC West); Minnesota (Ohio State and Michigan from Big Ten East); California (Utah, UCLA, USC and Arizona State from Pac-12 South); Georgia Tech and Miami (both play Florida State and Clemson from ACC Coastal); Tulsa (East Carolina, Central Florida and Cincinnati from AAC East); Hawaii (at Boise State, at New Mexico and Air Force from Mountain West Mountain); Ohio and Miami Ohio (Northern Illinois and Western Michigan from Mid-American West); North Texas (Western Kentucky, Marshall and Middle Tennessee from Conference USA East)". "34. Rice leaves the state of Texas once all season: Oct. 10, at Florida Atlantic. It plays five road games in the state: at Texas, North Texas, Baylor, UTEP and UTSA." https://sports.yahoo.com/news/40-schedule-observations-for-this-college-football-season-232440906-ncaaf.html (Thought I would share, I saw this article on Yahoo talking about "The Toughest Schedules in College Football". No surprise that UNT is mentioned in the article.)

If McNulty makes the grade will you step down?
GreenTexan13 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Of course.... Everybody would be worshiping him if he brings us to another bowl game this season. The problem is, and some people have already brought up this point... Is the fact that DT had a good team backing him up. McNulty doesn't seem to have that going for him in 2015. Our QB play just isn't what we need it to be to balance out the other flaws if McNulty goes out there and tosses interceptions, fumbles, or just cant deliver. -
UNT quarterback breakdown: McNulty in position to hang on to job
GreenTexan13 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
yeah that was a tough game to watch, stress meter went crazy that day, But did you honestly think Mac would of put Dajon in the game? same goes for Josh Greer. Dajon was put in the never ending dog house after UAB, and Josh Greer completely blew his chance for 2014 when he choked against LA Tech. Mac left McNulty in there because he was checked out for the season at rotating QB's in my opinion. I really, really, really want Smith to be our starting QB when the season begins in Dallas in September. However I know how stubborn Mac is... And I'm afraid McNulty will be out there before Smith. I do think that McNulty would snag us the win against SMU and Portland State. But the smart decision is to put Smith out there. We do not need another Derek Thompson situation and be back to a rusty QB in 2016. Smith needs the games under his belt as a junior, so we can have a trustworthy and broken in QB for UNT when he is a senior. Plus he is better then McNulty and I want to win more games. -

UNT quarterback breakdown: McNulty in position to hang on to job
GreenTexan13 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
Since it is pretty much a given that McNulty is taking the field vs. SMU. How many games are we going to see him play before Smith takes the wheel? I can't gamble on McCarney's decisions like some other coaches. -
I think that is a fair assessment. if UNT has a good year, I could actually see us going 7-5. But that all depends on the QB playing.... speaking of UAB, whats is the situation? are we sitting at a odd number of conference teams for awhile?

UNT 2015 Spring game in review
GreenTexan13 replied to Brett Vito's topic in UNT Football Recruiting
I couldn't agree more with this statement. DW needs to be out there, and we need to mold him into our starting 1st string QB for the remainder of his career here. If we lose with DW, I know that he will take his mistakes as a harsh learning tool. McNulty is at the highest peak of talent he can provide (which clearly isn't good enough). Mac needs to use McNulty as a guy who coaches DW from the sidelines and is that Senior that puts the guy in line. As far as my opinion goes, I'm all UNT90 opinionated on this season going 3-9. Hopefully our QB situation gets figured out and we get DW or Smith out there leading the team in the fall... -

Starting QB emerges during North Texas spring drills
GreenTexan13 replied to Harry's topic in Mean Green Football
You all remember how SMU made Greer look last year? shoot, McNulty might look like a Derek Thompson X2 if they are the same team again this year. I hope some of you are right about him having a break through year though. If not, hopefully Smith can rescue us from imploding again. -
The fact that you post on another team's football forum is unfortunate. Cougar Troll.

Interesting site showing record vs. opponents

Yeah, the Current win streak should have North Texas with 1 in 2014. Plus our largest margin of victory should look way better now. Thanks for posting this! -
Swedish Student Earns Football Scholarship To UNT

I for one cannot relate to this game to the older generations since I wasn't able to follow UNT football (born 2 years after this game).I agree that this is way in the past to be still holding a big grudge about. I for one, would love to see our current team work as hard as our guys did out on the field in Austin '88. If we lose to teams like Texas, Tennessee, or Iowa, I would still be dang proud if we kept it close like the '88 robbery. I was proud of what UNT did in the Georgia game in 2013. It's just the constant P5 steam rolling and terrible playing like last years Texas game that sucks... That was hard to watch.... It may not change a whole lot of perspective to the nation about mean green football. But we as fans would definitely have that pride in our team!

Brendan Nosovitch (Former South Carolina QB)
GreenTexan13 replied to Ben Gooding's topic in Mean Green Football
Shoot, if we give him an opportunity to play at UNT, I don't see it posing a real problem. I don't see it happening, seeing that Andrew McNulty is still our starting QB after a disastrous 2014 season.... and we now have 9 QB'S, with The top three being from last year's top three. Still hoping Smith can figure his grades out... a lot of us are relying on this guy to guide the team through our brutal schedule this season. Besides the rambling, I say go for it UNT! If a SEC transfer wants to come here, let's take him. -
This is by far the worst post I have witnessed on this board. People from Dallas won't even come 40-45 miles north to see SMU play at Apogee. I honestly think UNT will bring a bigger crowd to Dallas then SMU did to Denton. The problem you speak of is the lack of winning, not about hippie and hipster concerts. I disagree with your post on so many levels.
-
I know this is besides the point, but I think scheduling Army for a few years was a good idea. Sucks we can't see a big name opponent at Apogee. (Yes I know 90... RV....)
-
As sorry as it sounds, I don't blame him. Maybe one day UNT90 will see the glass half full and Mean Green Man will return.

This reminds me... Whatever happened to Mean Green Man and his motivational posts? Did the negativity finally drive him off?

Iowa game is a little more realistic

So since UNT has beat Tennessee in history? Does that mean I should go with history and say we will win this season?
