If you want to prevent the communist vibe, try throwing in some green and white stripes or something. We are UNT not U.N.T.S.S.R.

University of New Mexico maybe or University of Nevada Reno?, it's hard to beat your comparison with SJSU. I looked at several other school football programs just to see if I could find one close enough. There's always one factor that skews the comparison's off. SJSU is pretty dead on in mirroring our program.

I think it is SMU. We are close enough in proximity to bump elbows amongst fans.We compete for recruits, all I hear about is SMU stole this kid or UNT stole this kid.Our history goes way back to 1922, (Safeway bowl too) Yes I do realize their win ratio is bigger. The problem is (and Harry already covered this) that SMU would rather plunge off a cliff before accepting us as a rival. I personally think they need to get off their high horse (or in their case, high pony) and realize that TCU has moved on to the power house and will be making Baylor and UT rivals. If they want to call TCU a rival, then I guess we should start talking smack talk to some horned frogs on their forums and spy on them. UTSA is our best bet at both parties accepting a rivalry, but a rivalry starts by both teams having wins on each other. North Texas has to decide on Halloween, whether or not they can give UNT fans the satisfaction of a win against these roadrunners and get this UTSA squash train rolling.

UAB Football - $6mil pledged to reinstate football
GreenTexan13 replied to Aldo's topic in Mean Green Football
Will UAB be moving over to CUSA west when/if they finally come back? (I heard rumors) Plus Charlotte kind of moved into their spot. -
That is a tough one actually. Greer was absolutely terrible... He gets nervous and lets his nerves play the football game. I much rather have McNulty out there if it was down to the two of them. you could actually measure how bad SMU was, by seeing how we almost shut out a game with Greer. It is close though, but I think that McNulty is a sliver ahead of Greer, Both aren't qualified QB's tough. MeanGreenTexan said the rights words in our situation "Help us DaMarcus Smith. You're our only hope".

I will say that there will be more black incorporated into the green unis. Like black bordering on the letters and black on the shoulder pad area. A black an white stripe on the pants. I have always wondered if we could rock the feather wings on our uniforms or helmets, but I know some people aren't fans of that. I found a helmet as an example below but it would be different colors. This is if they are changing helmets though. They did say, "uniforms".

We are going to have McNulty or any upcoming QB compared to DT, until we have another successful season in my opinion. The 2014 HOD MVP QB is now the marker for a current or future North Texas QB. If I was interviewing McCarney, I would throw QB comparisons of DT to get Mac to take a hint in regards to our QB plan. McNulty was Thompson's backup, so he is basically the little brother that is expected to take over for the big brother after he graduates. Clearly he ain't bringing it. But hey.. They say history repeats itself... DT came off of a 4-8 season and finished his NT career season 9-4. 2014 was a 4-8 season.... so.....

The only thing UT has influence on UNT is the fact that Austin's Hippie/Liberal culture is rubbing off on Denton culture. -
I agree 100%, we also need a winning product as well. We are blessed with having three Texas CUSA West opponents that we rotate them playing in Apogee every season. UTSA and Rice are just a straight shot up the Interstate. Heck, I think our first in conference sell out game is going to be UTEP, if it's not a championship game.. I thoroughly enjoyed seeing such a well traveled fan base when they came to Apogee. I do think our alum base needs to step up more. The students have been getting better at coming out to fill up the stands.

I am honored to have Tech as a rival. You guys have a great football team and definitely make our conference look strong. I truly get excited to watch #UNTvsLaTech every time. One of my favorite games to look forward too.
-
I agree, McNulty is a good guy, but he is a back up QB. I just don't see us standing a chance against the tougher opponents like Iowa, WKU, or Marshall this season with McNulty on the field. I am crossing my fingers that Smith will get out there and ignite our offense, (like DW did) just without the freshman interceptions and fumble mistakes. What else worries me is what @MeanGreenTexan said. Smith needs to make good grades and earn Mac's respect. Mac isn't the type of guy that folds on a pick unless you see his decision on the field blow up in his face. (2014 LaTech game)

Yeah because you have earned a reputation around forums as the ultimate cougar douche bag. What's even more sad, is the fact that you keep coming back and commenting after you get lit up.
-
You do bring up a valid look at the circumstances... I hope we can test our predictions out soon. The one way we can know for sure, is if the game actually happens in Denton.
-
You bring up a great point, I would like to add time as well. I bet a 6pm or 7pm game would be our first sell out game. The problem with the last year SMU game was that A. they don't bring any fans from 41 miles away, but B. (which is on topic) it was at 11am and people were frying in an oven at the stadium. If we had a late and close to sun down game, the old and young could be more comfortable. This only applies to early fall though, I remember that UTSA game Harry, and I couldn't feel my hands or feet that game.. It was so cold.
-
If we make a conference championship happen at Apogee, I would bet good money that we have a sell out. I think this year, our big crowd bringing games are UTSA and UTEP. The only problem is... the fact that one is on Halloween, (alumni attendance hurts) and UTEP is on a thanksgiving break weekend...If we have a good year and brought a more reputable team to our homecoming, then we could of had a sellout or close to sell out. (but Portland State) All in all, a conference championship at Apogee will bring the masses. Also, this is another reason why we need OK state or a P5 opponent at our stadium that would bring their alumni. But I'm beating a dead horse with that topic.

http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/road-saturday/201507/are-bathrooms-blame-declining-student-attendance-college-football I found this article and found it crazy that perhaps restrooms are to blame for attendance issues, maybe it could be a huge problem for big football stadiums? seating 60k + ? (Makes me that much happier we have our awesome Apogee Stadium)

What you need to know for C-USA Media Day

not if a big name can come to Apogee, I tried to avoid bringing it up. Since it is a touchy subject around here. -

How long will your stubbornness last, until you take out McNulty? Why can't you win road games? How do you feel about playing two P5 conference games on the road? -
I'm not going to make any predictions until the season starts. I know it is far more likely the Vols are going to take the win. But I want to see how we match up for the first two games of the season. And especially how we do against Iowa. yes Iowa isn't as talented as the vols, but I feel Iowa will strongly dictate what our team might look like against Tenessee.

You are talking to the "son of UNT 90" haha

If you're such a high and mighty football power, then why do you feel the need to buzz around here? WE DON'T CARE about Houston, stop giving us facts about cougar queen university....
