  2. I thought news reports said that Riley makes $500k? There could be a good chance for him to earn a raise though. MGN reported that Mike Norvell was HIGHLY interested in UNT. If Riley is out, I think a lot of people are placing him on the next pick list.
  3. look at both our and their facilities and anybody would be scratching their head on why someone would choose LA Tech over North Texas to play football. this is a perfect example to show the RV supporters that defend him with the, "he built us new facilities" approach. Our lack of coach quality recruiting the last 2-3 years is also hurting us.
  4. It looks like he's got the head coach experience some us want. But then again, so did DMac. I'm worried about his lack of Texas ties and recruiting.
  5. I'm so tired of seeing missed tackles... Excuse me, I'm so tired of seeing Coshed tackles....
  6. Pretty ridiculous.... I hope our new coach can turn this around. Losing this bad almost every game is almost like forfeiting the season...
  7. that is a shame. And it's not like they were bad last year either.... Makes me feel (slightly) better about our attendance issues. And we haven't had a winning season in 2 years...
  8. A bitter pill to swallow when they see Riley wearing a North Texas shirt and standing on the sidelines of Apogee in 2016! Lol
  9. http://www.tulsaworld.com/sportsextra/ousportsextra/ou-sports--report--lincoln-riley-interviews-for-north-texas-head-c/article_4a435926-fb75-5bac-b371-e404b5833017.html OU released a statement Friday from Riley that said, "I understand that reports have linked my name to the head coaching vacancy at North Texas. I am absolutely not a candidate for that position. I am focused on only one thing — helping the OU Sooners win a conference championship."
  10. Parents buying ticket will get free tickets for kids, I definitely agree with the free parking, free single food item (fried road runner) Lol, I was going to post about how we should NOT go the chicken route. UTSA is never going to live that one down.
  11. I have always wondered.. If coordinators interview for other jobs, does that look negative in the eyes of their HC? Or that's just the nature of the business, and all coaches understand they could see their peers there one minute and then snatched away the next.
  12. This is exciting news! The guy comes from three teams (Tech, OU, and ECU) that are known for a well coordinated offense. Combine that with a past interest in UNT, a doubling in a pay raise, and the chance to be titled a head coach (to gain experience for the P5's) and I think we have ourselves a strong candidate for the HC position.
  13. that's some good news. I'm still hoping Lincoln Riley will work out. Withers and Norvell are pretty impressive too.
  14. I ran across some KU guys talking about the North Texas HC vacancy while searching the net. Obviously KU is the bottom feeder of the Big 12, and I can see why they would get the cold shoulder.... But, does anybody know these guys' coaching style? Will they even make good coaches here at UNT? I have my attention set to this, because I am really hoping we could scoop up an assistant/coordinator from the Big 12 as our HC. http://www.scout.com/college/kansas/forums/2485-gridiron-talk/14183220-will-bowen-be-a-candidate-north-texas-hc
  15. The title of this thread is like asking a dead person if they are alright.
  16. Exactly, I was just about to post about us not getting to emotional on the guy over one win. He definitely knows how to motivate the players, but we are talking about the future of North Texas Football here... One win against a backup QB and a team that is experiencing their own great depression isn't a cause for us to hire Chico.....
  17. They are a mix of the alumni who don't care about UNT football until we are actually noticeable and the casual fan.(ex. I had a lady who cut my hair at one of the hairdressers in Denton tell me that she attended the bowl game just because she is from Denton). If UNT ever breaks the curse and we transform into the next Boise State, I think we are going to turn into the Seattle Seahawks of Conference USA. You are going to see a lot more of those fairweather/bandwagon fans that you haven't seen before. *I actually want this to happen too
  18. I would say a year.. Give the guy one year and we can say, "okay its a rebuilding year" and then after that I would expect him to start getting 6 wins at minimum in year 2. I think it will be tough to have a winning season in 2016 due to the short amount of time our new coach and staff has to prepare and recruit. I don't think its a reasonable expectation to have to wait on a coach who we are paying 1 million dollars to take 3 years to finally get us a bowl season. If that's the case, let's just call DMac back.
  19. so... Being that RV probably isn't going anywhere for 15 months, shouldn't we just hire Chico for 3 years? (Since 1 year is insulting) i much rather get a new head coach with a past of success. But I'm afraid that you could have a valid point. RV is going to be toxic in this next hire. And I much rather have Chico run this team, then another Dodge/McCarney melt down.
  20. I bet you that's June's retirement getaway. that is like Dan McCarney going to seek the job at UCF.
  21. Vito, Fritz was the talk of last week! Thanks for the clarification though.
  22. Seems like a strong candidate and would definitely be another Big12 recruiter type advantage for UNT (similar to Briles). Based on his current salary and that he was once interested in UNT, I would be willing to bet he would be interested for HC. I classify him up there with Briles in our top picks.
  23. Thank you! I feel like I have heard this somewhere before. If I'm not mistaken, I remember one of the podcasts when Harry talked about Dodge. Saying that it was not a mistake for Dodge to move into the college football world. But he should have started as a coordinator first. Briles has the P5 coordinator experience... And I most importantly think he'll be able to fix our recruiting dilemma. And for those who say that he would have to work his ass off to be successful here... I would hope they could determine that in an interview with the guy.
