Now that is funny. Mostly because Dickey hates this place. You know the fans and the facilities, the toughest situation in all of football.

While I am no big fan of our conference or the meaning of the New Orleans Bowl. I think it is one of the best locations to have a bowl game, and there is nothing more I love than spending a few days in the Big Easy with a whole bunch of friends, alumni, students and family all coming together as Crazy Screaming MEAN GREEN fans! Some of the best times ever.

You are pretty much on the mark, Part of my job is Demographics and that has to be one of the worst areas of the Dallas city limits to place a Campus. It makes no sense at all and is not thought out, if it is really important they should take advantage of the redevelopment in and around Downtown Dallas. Near where the Law school is supposed to go, it would help both Dallas and UNT with plenty of redevelopment money and land on the south edge of downtown.

I did as well. But as said above the survey was set up in such a way that athletics did not have a chance, there were only one or two questions that related to athletics. I did add some comments that said athletics were the most important part for me as an alumni. Any survey can and usually are set up to find out the results the surveyors want to prove.

Yup 2002 was the year our Defense was ranked in the top 10. Then DeLoach left and the D slowly went down hill.

I heard that the BOR stepped in and kept RV from firing DD in 2001 and were also responsible for the extensions against RV wishes. I don't think RV is on board with a good part of DD's philosophy. Well the whole thing has caused bad blood between them and they talk to each other as little as possible. meangreendork - I would think that RV and the BOR could figure out lots of ways to come up with money for a coach if they got on the same page. Keep in mind a stronger coach would bring more fans, more donations, and more sponsors. Next consider what a perfect stepping stone school UNT is right now, with attendance up a BOR and a AD that are building the facilities and the sports programs. To top it off we are in a Conference that if you team goes just over .500 you will probably be the Conference Champion and hero of the school. SO For a good Coach trying to make a name for himself as Head Coach money is not necessarily the most important part. Also Money can be deferred, loaded on the back-end of the contract, set-up as incentives and so on. This "we don't have money argument" is a joke.

Dickey, Dickey, he's your man - if he can do it anyone can!!! Go Dickey! Does that make you feel better Rick? I think it is funny that DMN talks about RV & DD meeting but I have heard all year long that DD and RV hardly talk to each other and there is plenty of bad blood between them.

We may be selling Bobby Ray short! I don't know that we can expect DD and staff back next year. I believe several on DD's staff will be leaving this year and not by choice or by DD's choice for that matter. I would even go as far as saying that DD is on thin ice now. Per Bobby Ray what is he supposed to say to a fan and backer if asked in public on the subject? Could he really say, "well we are unpleased and currently looking for someone better, but until we get it locked up we are not ready to fire DD." Some will always walk the company line. Keep in mind anything can happen when it comes to UNT and politics.

WOW Plumm has got some solid competition now! I think I need the Cliff Notes for that one! I got kind of lost on the point, is it that we are only half or half-a$$ committed to sports at UNT??

He is basically right on how the general public view UNT and the SBC. You could tear in to this post and point out this or that. And that he has a fat head UT ego and on and on. But after you rip it up and spit it out he is still basically right. Most people I have met in the DFW area do think the SBC is a total joke, whether I am at work, with my hockey team drinking in the bar, playing volleyball, working on my plane in Lancaster, hanging out with old childhood friends, or deer hunting in west Texas it is always the same. Some will be very polite and say, "I heard UNT was doing really well in there little conference, what was the name of that conference again." or " Just wait until UNT starts playing and wining some real games against some real teams." That is life as a UNT fan period. Keeping DD right now only makes that worse for me. The really sad part is there are people at UNT and on this board that are happy with this. But this is not how to get big donations or lots of fans in the stadium.

I would like DD and staff to be gone! But if DD is still here next year I expect our team to be the same if not worse than this year with possibly no wins. I have not seen anything that DD has coached that leads me to believe he can elevate his players.

Nothing new DD has never had control! Discipline has always been a problem. I know ignore that, DD has 3 SBC titles and 1 co-title, oh wait those had bowls attached to them must mean something. Too Bad the rest of the world thinks the SBC is a complete joke still and consider being SBC Champion a dubious honor. But boy oh boy we can sure talk it up though.

I think it is fairly clear that I don't like the direction that DD is taking us and I believe we needed to fire him yesterday for the better of the Football program. But I will be there next year season tickets in hand, but if DD is there I just won't be happy. I will have to look to tailgating and seeing old friends.
