"Arkansas, New Mexico and North Texas all won to earn their Bottom 10 exit." Beaming up The Bottom 10 Thank goodness we are off that list!

Tulsa Head Coach comments on last years game
KingDL1 replied to Will to Win's topic in Mean Green Football
I would love to eat my words and looking at the rankings there is no reason a decent team should not finish this season 11-1 (Rank) CBS SportsLine 119 (74) Sat, Sep 16 Tulsa at Tulsa, Oklahoma 6 p.m. (46) Sat, Sep 23 Akron at Akron, Ohio 5 p.m. (105) Sat, Sep 30 Middle Tennessee Denton, Texas 6 p.m. (115) Sat, Oct 07 Florida International Denton, Texas 6 p.m. (107) Sat, Oct 21 Arkansas State at Jonesboro, Arkansas 6 p.m. (101) Sat, Oct 28 Troy at Troy, Alabama 6 p.m. (93) Sat, Nov 04 Louisiana Tech Denton, Texas 6 p.m. (103) Sat, Nov 11 Louisiana-Lafayette at Lafayette, Louisiana 4 p.m. (118) Sat, Nov 18 Florida Atlantic Denton, Texas 6 p.m. (106) Sat, Nov 25 Louisiana-Monroe at Monroe, Louisiana 6 p.m. But I think we must have different ideas of big-time win, SMU was a "must win" not a big-time win in my book. -
This one is better! One thing missing from today's papers. There was no word on Patrick Cobbs clearing waivers and being re-signed to the practice squad. In this case no news probably means he did clear waivers. Expect the papers to have something on this in the next day or two. Dookie Meet Ducey

Steelers' Week One impressions Pretty Negative, don't read if you don't need to be pi$$ed off. On Sept. 1 when the Steelers acquired Patrick Cobbs - who was cut when Davenport was signed - Cowher said, "We will go with four running backs ... you have to be able to use these guys ... so they aren't going to be (tapped) out by November or December. That was a big key for us (last year) ... particularly if you're a team that runs the football." In the few days Cobbs practiced with the Steelers, he didn't look like a back who belonged in the NFL. The Story Screw those guys, Patrick proved already that he belongs in the NFL he had a great preseason. I hope he ends up in a place that gives Patrick some opportunities to carry the ball.

I was wondering just that. As well advertised I am not a DD or RF fan, but do we have some players rising above their coaching and wining in spite of poor coaching? -
I believe at the end of the day Cobbs is a smart guy and I am sure he has something he feels better about in hand.

Zeke, damn man I had green on, what the hell? I can swap it if you want?

One of my people couldn't find it!

Very Exciting! Congratulations!

Thanks guys, 200 gallons will get you about 45-50 minutes for the kind of flying we were doing, at a higher altitude and cruising you can do much better, and low altitude with full throttle say doing fly byes and aerobatics much worse.

This weekend turned out very well for several in the Mean Green Nation, I know I enjoyed mine. I took some pictures while tailgating and thought I would share. What perfect weather and a great game. Tailgating I was a little nervous after many bottles of dirty water and an entire day of tailgating and cheering on the Mean Green on to victory, I knew Sunday morning would come early. I had promised to take some air to air photos of a friend's L-29 Delfin fighter trainer jet. I get the call at 7:15am Sunday morning that the weather was cooperating, his plane was just washed and polished, he has a Bonanza A36 with both rear doors off and a pilot ready to go plus just he dropped 200 gallons of Jet-A in the l-29. But I am hungover and tired, I get rolling toward the airport and I start to feel better than I thought, by the time I get to Lancaster Airport I am starting to feel pretty damn good. The weather is perfect and the planes look great. We get in the air and I realize I can hang my feet out of the back of the plane while we are flying, bare foot. I have hung my feet out the back of trucks, boats, jeeps, trailers, sleighs, and I don't know what all, I have never hung my feet out of a flying airplane. Next thing we are flying along and tap a cloud and I can feel the moisture of the cloud on my feet, it was a first for me to drag my feet though a cloud at 4000 agl. Kind of felt like an Eagle, a Mean Green Eagle that is. Two very exciting days days in a row. Sunday Morning flying for anyone interested.

Mean Green Up to 95 from 106. SMU fell 11 from 93 to 104. Hopefully this will get us off the ESPN Bottom 10. CBS SportsLine 119

UNT fans don't earn points for originality

He couldn't even get the story right what a jerk-off, he was off by what 11 years. I guess he should pay better attention to his own information. It fills me with confidence that he is in touch with the fan-base. Tech didn't start it. The whole article is a year out of date. -
DMN Fraley: Loss has to rank among SMU's worst
KingDL1 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
Very good question. SMU History Founded in 1911 by what is now The United Methodist Church and opened in 1915 I checked the score of the Rice game in 1916 and that is correct though, wow 146 points. -
Steelers Notebook: Steelers beef up at RB Cobbs, inactive for the 28-17 season-opening victory Thursday night against Miami, was released to make room for Davenport. If Cobbs clears waivers, the Steelers will try to re-sign him to their practice squad. Good luck Patrick!

DMN Fraley: Loss has to rank among SMU's worst
KingDL1 replied to NT80's topic in Mean Green Football
I can't imagine that going over well. Holly cow 146 thats about a touchdown every 3 minutes. Is that the D1 record? Or has a team hung more points on a opponent? -
With the great weather, an exciting beating of the ponies, and a UT loss?
-
I don't know who coached that game, but it couldn't have been DD & RF, could it? Maybe we had a guest coach. Wow, some credit. I don't know what got into DD & RF but that was an exciting game, creative and gutsy. Congratulations DD and RF!

The pony board just topped off a great day with a perfect dessert!

See everyone at the game I am off to tailgate in the spirit of togetherness!
-
We had quite a few for Tulsa. And we had a pretty large crowd each time we tore down the goalposts. So sure seems like we have had some higher attendances than the last two on the list.

The News feels like a really bad omen! I think Patrick will land somewhere.

Newest info as of Friday morning September 8, 2006. We now know, thanks to UNT_playmaker, that the Mean Green Nation does not have to worry about a hurricane hitting Denton for the SMU game at least. Thanks again UNT_playmaker, maybe UNT_weathermaker?? The latest from the National Weather service, and they believe: Today: Partly cloudy, with a high near 90. South southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 65. East southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Saturday: Partly cloudy, with a high near 92. South southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph. Saturday Night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly cloudy, with a low around 69. Southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph.
