Sorry for the typo but it was Troy ranked 77th last year. I don't remember how many yards we gave up against Tulsa last year, that is what total offense is based on, the only good news about Tulsa is that we don't play them this year because at the moment they are ranked 3rd in the nation in total offense. As far as an easier schedule last year based on total offenses we have faced that is a fact. In fact it is quite a bit difference. Look I am just trying to show it is a 64th ranked defense from last year that people go on about is not as simple as it seems, we have not played anyone below last years average of 75 as far as total team offense is concerned. Monroe has been the closest at 73. I am not arguing that we don't need to fill some spots next year or that we need to improve our play and our coaching I just see plenty of hope for the future, I see a coaching staff that lives with the idea that you need to get better everyday. I have faith in Dodge that our recruiting classes are going to be strong each year. I expect good things in the future, is that too Rosy?

You know Rick, it seems that we knocked Justin Willis out of that game, and Tulsa was Ranked 77th in total offense last year and this year they are ranked 14th, I kind of believe there is a difference. Not to say we are good this year but we were not that good last year. Combined with a new staff, new system, players quiting, returning players showing up to fall practice out of shape and so on. I don't think they are quite as bad as some would like to make out. Yes we are in the process of building our team from the ground up, that means the coaches will have to get continually better also, the following recruiting classes will progressively rank higher and higher as we become a Mid-Major. From there one day a BCS Conference and a then maybe a run on a National Championship. We have some good guys we need some monsters, I think we will get them.

Once again with the really bright mind from Houston. Well if you had paid attention you would know that the defense gave up 37 points and one of the TD's called back was on a kick return (we call that special teams) not the defense and there was two penalties on that play against Troy.

Another small difference Troy last year finished with year with a total offense ranking of 77th. This year after Troy has played some tough opponents, their total offense is ranked 14th in the nation. One more thing Troy is averaging 459.71 yard of offense a game after 7 games we allowed 34 yards more then their average.

I think 3-4 year of playing is about right, in my terms that means this recruiting year when the kids sign in Feb 2008 counts as one. Dodge is a hell of a recruiter just listening to him you get motivated and pumped up. I think we are safe I believe in Dodge he will have it together by 2009.

You are right, I think it will be the 2009 season before we see things getting really turned around. But the green blood in me feels like next year we will see a winning season.

You must be kidding those turnovers were forced, and if our offense got it together we would have seen a different game. Worst defense you have ever seen? Kind of dramatic don't you think. 2 The defense is not essentially the same in regards to personnel or system. We have some good returning players that are just now getting in to playing shape and their impact is noticeable. Also the statistical ranking from last year are not nearly the same as this year in terms of the competition we have played. See stats, I have not updated in a week but Troy is ranked 15th in total offense. Last year our defense faced an average total team offense of 75 out 119 that is the bottom 37 percent. This year the current average is 43 opponent total offense with Monroe being the worst at 73 still two below last years average. This year our opponents so far are in the top 35 percent in total offense. Stats before Monroe I don't like to lose but damn I know where we were and I know where we are trying to go.

Thats a bit harsh, so what do you suggest. We as a fan-base can't be patient enough to wait two years for Dodge to have a chance to turn it around? Do we just complain to the administration until we win the Belt again? Do we start firing coaches now? Fire Rick V. also. I mean nobody wants to lose, definitely not me but I saw that Troys players looked much bigger and faster then ours. I know we don't have a kicker and so on. What? Should I be ashamed because I am willing to wait two years? Troy is good, maybe top 25 good and our defense has stepped up in the last two games. 7 forced turnovers! Our offensive line was our weakest link today, then our kicking game, followed by special teams. Kicking of course by our lack of confidence in our kicker. But if you really can't handle it save yourself some hard-ache and tune back in the fall of 2009. Next week the Muts at home, we have a good shot at beating them, I hope to see you there again. I will have some cold beer and hot food to share.

The Good: 7 Turnovers for our defense. The turnover Ratio was 2 to 7 in our favor. Gio is tough as nails. Our O-Line can only get better. Gio only had one pick in 37 attempts, and that was when he got hit. No kicks were blocked. We had the advantage in time of possesion.
