  1. I would much rather be 6-2 with wins over the other two contenders in the west. That would mean we're at worst, second in the west, with a much better chance of still making the conference championship. Instead we're banking on going 4-0 and hoping UAB drops 3 and LaTech drops 2 to be in the picture for the conference.
  2. Not entirely sure what point you're trying to prove. Women's Soccer is technically undefeated(with two ties) in conference. http://conferenceusa.com/standings.aspx?path=wsoc Point being, they won a conference championship. Something that our "big three" can't say, and I would go as far to say as probably none of those teams will win a conference championship this year. So yes. All of our teams should strive to be like our Mean Green Ladies. The expectation is that they go out and win conference championships, and they actually go through with it.
  3. So it's good to know that we should expect run, run, pass, punt every drive. It'll be like a throwback for us to both Dickey AND McCarney
  4. When did I ever say scorched earth? I said Littrell isn't elite. Consistent? Sure, but he's more Skip Holtz than Tom Herman(in terms of G5 coaches), which, in a lot of cases is okay. That was my original question I posed. Are we good with 8-4 every year? Would I much rather go 0-4 to start the season then rattle off 8 straight and win a conference championship? 9/10 times yes. Doesn't matter if it's mid season, or end of season, I want to be a contender PERIOD. That being said, I would much rather be in the position of needing one win the final game and losing than being out of the race midseason.
  5. 14 conference titles in 23 years. Pretty incredible. This is the success all other teams at UNT should strive for every year.
  6. Don't you love being average? Boy I know I do! The goal every year should be to win a conference championship. If we settle for any lower expectations, then we deserve another coach like Dodge. "You can't soar with the eagles if you hang out with the chickens" - Slim Thug - Seth Littrell
  7. UNT scores 28 in the first half, then, as per usual, forgets how to play offense in the second and is blanked. Rice fights hard and gets 10 in the fourth. UNT 28 Rice 10
  8. We're basically Southern Miss when they had Mullens. Fantastic QB, but can never get over the top.
  9. I won't be surprised to see one of the true freshman step in for Garner/Ejiya. We may see a lot more true shootouts next year.
  10. UNT Offense in the second half:
  11. Losing Briles hurt FAU a lot. Without them running that stupid fast Baylor offense, it's not the same.
  12. Him and Carthel at A&M Commerce.
  13. The real question is what are we going to do to keep that culture? Who's gonna replace Mason Fine? Who's gonna replace our entire receiving corps? What are we going to do to replace Littrell? Is Harrell the answer? I get we're recruiting better, but to replace the program's GOAT QB is a lot easier said than done. The key here is to pump out 7-8 wins the season after, but will we be able to? Only time will tell.
  14. I didn't say division. I said conference. You win the conference championship game, you pick your bowl. I guess you can't comprehend what I said. Edit: Thanks to the Mod for correcting what I said. I crossed the line, because apparently implying someone is a moron is okay, but outwardly calling them one is not. and my response: I agree, division championships don't mean much, but tell me where I said that they did to begin with?
  15. If I remember correctly FAU chose to stay home. Doesn't the conference champion get their pick of a bowl game? If that's the case, why would we be happy with anything less? Because anything less means a bahama bowl/new mexico type bid. Win the championship game and you get to pick the best bowl for your team. Apparently Boca Raton was the best for FAU last year.
  16. We're pretty much guaranteed a subpar bowl game due to conference affiliation. Several posters on here have called my original post "stupid". To say that conference championships don't matter is the dumbest thing I've read in this entire thread.
  17. 8-9, what's the difference? He's still losing the games that matter. In fact, I don't think we'll hit 10 this season. I said 8-4 at the beginning of the year and it's looking like that's a very real possibility.
  18. I honestly believe Seth is a great coach, but after 3 years, I'm convinced he's not elite, mainly because we never win the games we need to win. Often, in those games we are embarrassed and/or don't play well at all. I'm not going to complain with 7-8 wins a year because its consistent success that we haven't seen in a long time, but until Littrell starts winning the MUST WIN games, I can't trust him as a coach to really hit that elite level. We should be so much better than we've shown the last 4 weeks, but we are shitting the bed again, just like the last 3 years. 2016 - UTEP to hit 6-6(got bailed out by our APR), Army 2017 - FAU x2, Troy 2018 - LaTech, UAB, probably our bowl game this year. I guess the silver lining is that if he keeps losing the must win games, we might hang on to him longer, but are we really going to be happy with this kind of success? I recall a conversation on the board about some people that prefer 8 wins a year type team, and others preferring the few mediocre years with a 12-1 type season. At this point are we happy with 8 wins a year? Because it looks like Littrell hits his ceiling at that point.
  19. Hell at this point 3/4 of their team has a mortgage and multiple kids. I mean have you see Erdely? Dude screams "I'm a middle aged suburban dad"
  20. Here's the article: https://www.ntdaily.com/mean-green-look-to-take-control-of-c-usa/ And some responses(In the comments) I didn't think Rico was talking trash, but maybe that's just how I read it. Seemed more like a "we can't worry about them, we can only worry about us" type deal, but I can see why it would be taken that way. One UAB player tweeted something about "We only talk with our shoulder pads" but I can't find it. Seems like they might have some bulletin board material Edit: Found the Tweet
  21. Buzzsaw? Sure. Hot Buzzsaw? Maybe the team that came out against SMU, but not the current one.
  22. You think the offense will do better against a statistically better defense? Interesting
  23. Definitely. Walters was great, and so was Noah Joseph, the safeties coach(now at Rutgers).
  24. Didn't they already do that this past season? His max buyout is if it happens after this season, and then goes down each year after. Something like 2.1 Million and his remaining salary for the length of the contract if I remember correctly
