  1. I want Bean only because of his running ability. This OL is going to get somebody killed. I'd rather have a QB that can run away from the inevitable swarm.
  2. yeah now that you mention it, he's shown teaching a bunch, but it doesn't seem to resonate very well. Maybe it's just the players.
  3. I think it's pretty clear that Langston isn't the answer. Every time they show him he's just screaming about lunch pails and hard hats. Brad Davis seemed to be a better teaching/technical coach.
  4. 4* and 5* star linemen with pending assault with a deadly weapon/felony burglary cases.
  5. Remember when we had the discussion if it was better to hire an X's/O's coach or a Recruiter? I think it's pretty clear what the answer is. Whatever recruiting acumen Wilson has, he completely destroys with AWFUL coaching.
  6. I really hope Brian Parish can put on another 30 pounds. I really liked his tape out of high school. Much like our LB situation, I wouldn't be surprised to see a true freshman on the OL next year.
  7. Brammer doesn't have the size/strength to deal with someone like Jaylon Ferguson. Conversely, Murray doesn't have lateral quickness to deal with someone like Jaylon Ferguson. Basically as long as our tackles never have to play against an NFL level DE, we're solid.
  8. What's that? Is that the ghost of the Southland conference I hear calling? oooo ahhhh, so scary. I talk about expectations and the future and you bitch about the past. What are your expectations Jim? To resurrect Hayden Fry and re-unite the SWC with new lifelong member, North Texas State University? Finally, we'll be in the same conference as the mighty SMU ponies!
  9. This thread isn't about the past failures of Rick Villarreal and our being barred from the SWC or our drop to 1-AA in 1982 so why are you even commenting?
  10. Honestly, if we won 10 games this year, I'd consider it successful, but only because of our history. With that being said if you can win 10 games in a season, I still expect you to be able to win a freaking bowl game. Especially if it's one against a middle of the road MWC or MAC team.
  11. Hell LaTech has been running the Air Raid since Dykes was there. I obviously don't follow them as much as I follow UNT but they don't seem to scramble last minute for "diamonds in the rough" like we do.
  12. I'm honestly curious how you consider my expectations as "Arbitrary" and "Magical Measurements" If you went up to your every day CFB fan, and asked them "What would a successful season for your team look like?" I can almost guarantee every answer would include either a bowl game, an undefeated season, or a conference championship. Are my expectations really that wild? A lot people measure success by championships.
  13. It's unfortunate that we can't seem to pull together a competent OL. LaTech and UAB have great lines. Why can't we?
  14. Absolutely. At least that's what I believe, but hitting at least one would still be more preferable than hitting none. What do you believe? What are your expectations? Same question to you @MeanGreenTexan
  15. I guess you haven't read what I said. Bowl Game. Undefeated. Conference Championship. If a team did not do at least one of those three things, then yes I would say they didn't meet expectations.
  16. Alabama won THE National championship. Only 1, determining the champion. Auburn did not win the conference, didn't go undefeated, and didn't win their bowl game. One season is disappointing, one isn't.
  17. By that logic I'm sure the 17-1 Patriots felt a hell of a lot better than the 14-6 Giants in 2007
  18. Win the games that matter.I'm going to preface this by saying they all matter, but, conference games matter more, Bowl Games matter more, conference championships matter more. So to answer your question yes. I'd take 7-6 with a bowl win, because at this point, due to conference losses(games that matter more), all we're playing for is a bowl game(game that matters more). If you go 10-3, you're 10-3 with nothing to show for it outside of some meaningless statistics. And as a great coach once said: "Stats are for losers". Win the games that matter.
  19. He gets a pass for losing to an Army team that we beat in the regular season?
  20. Damn well right I expect to win a bowl game after a 1-11 season. You bring a new coach in to win. And my expectation for this season is to win a bowl game, one that I would be very happy with, but still, as I said before, disappointed, because we can do so much better. So far Littrell is 0-2 in Bowl Games, and 0-1 in conference championship games. Hell at least Skip Holtz wins his bowl game every year. All Littrell has done is "trend up" while wasting the greatest talent at QB to ever play for UNT.
  21. I would never do such a thing. Are my expectations realistic? Probably not. Am I disappointed when we don't do what we're capable of? Absolutely. Am I going to apologize for wanting the absolute best? Absolutely not. If we went 7-6 every year, I'd be happy about winning bowl games, but disappointed we didn't do more. If we went 10-4(8-0 in conference) every year, I'd be happy about winning a conference championship and a bowl game, but disappointed be didn't do more. If we went 14-0(or more) every year, I'd be happy about going undefeated, winning a conference championship, and winning a bowl game. My expectation is one or more of those things happen every year. Seth Littrell has done none, and while we may be "trending up", my expectations remain the same if we were 0-12 or 12-0.
  22. Y'all are right. I'm sure Littrell will rip off 3 mid season losses every year to temper fan expectations. Because that's the goal every season right? Tempering fan expectations. Can't get too high! Otherwise the crash will just be worse, so let's pepper in a few losses here and there to make sure we're grounded. Win a conference championship. Go Undefeated. Win your bowl game. Every. Single. Year.
  23. I didn't say I was mad at the schedule. I said it's a lot more disappointing to be staring down a bunch of if's, rather than knowing we hit 10 wins, probably ranked, and then losing two games. If the end result is the same(11-2), I'd take the two losses at the end 10/10 times.
  24. Absolutely. That would mean we were 10-0 going into those two games, probably ranked in the top 25, and already guaranteed a 10 win season. Disappointing sure, but not as disappointing as "We might be able to hit 10 wins and have no shot at a conference championship" halfway through the season.
  25. Gotcha. Misunderstood what you were getting at. Thanks for clarifying
