Agreed. I think green tops and black pants just look better overall anyways. Always loved this combo in the Mason Fine years http://ntdaily.com/wp-uploads/2017/12/20171202_4091fixed-1024x683.jpg

For me it's about what I expected. I expected Littrell to do this kind of work, and he failed. What Morris and Co. are doing with culture and social media and recruiting should be the MINIMUM. Now how this translates to wins and losses is the biggest question. If he comes out the gates swinging and strings together a few strong seasons, bowl wins, conference championships and gets hired away? Fantastic. Find another one. .500 football across the spans 3-4 seasons? Unacceptable. Just like it was with Littrell.

Athletics State of the Department is Tonight
MGNation92 replied to MCMLXXX's topic in Mean Green Football
I'm sure this comes as no surprise to most of you, but until UNT is no longer viewed as a "last option commuter campus", student and fan engagement, as well as donating to athletics will continue to be low. I graduated in 2015, have some family that graduated 2019, as well as a bunch of friends who graduated in and around that timeframe. I've donated before in the past (buying a house and growing family the last couple of years has made time/money a little tighter) and plan to do so again in the future. The biggest difference? I grew up in Midland, a 5 hour drive from Denton. The others? Plano, Keller, Sachse, Carrollton etc. I lived, studied, worked in Denton(and even a few years after graduating). A lot of them went back home every day and might not even have a second thought about Denton or the university on the weekend or the days they didn't have class. This kind accessibility, while great for convenience and growth of the university at the academic level, cultivates a poor athletic and school spirit foundation for students. You go to a Tech/A&M? You live, study, work in Lubbock or College Station, you're around it every day, and you're constantly surrounded by university and athletic paraphernalia. Meanwhile we get a billboard on 75 and a few shirts in a Rally House off the DNT. Couple that with generally poor athletic performance in major revenue sports, particularly football, and it's no wonder people don't want to give back. They drove 30-45 minutes to go to class twice a week, and didn't bother to come back for games that more often than not had disappointing results. No idea how to change any of this other than to win so much people have to pay attention. -
This feels like an appropriate one

Feel like FAU and Memphis are gonna be hard to overcome. Anywhere from 3-5 seems likely and I'd be happy with that. Would be incredible to win it, but it's an uphill battle

Another 6'4 guy. Like Morris and Co.'s emphasis on recruiting taller lineman. -

I like Morris a lot. To me he comes with similar or more (head coaching) experience as Littrell, but doesn't have the personality of a wet noodle. If I'm "on the fence" about anything, is what the team is gonna look like in the fall. Spring was a nice teaser, but the offense looked way too anemic for a guy who's a Leach protégé. At this point we just have to wait and see. That being said, I have hope for the first time in years. Feels similar to when we hired Wren: Morris feels like a guy who talks the talk and walks the walk. Let's just hope it translates to wins.

More true big men would definitely be nice, but what we really need is a Thomas Bell 2.0 Dude was only 6'6" but crashed the boards like he was 7'- 49 replies

UNT lands OU transfer SG CJ Noland

https://soonersports.com/sports/mens-basketball/roster/c.j.-noland/15466 6'2" 230 guard that likes to shoot the 3 but has the speed/power to drive into traffic when it's open. Reminds me of Huntsberry in a lot of ways, other than assists. Wonder how he slots into the lineup. Probably coming off the bench, but we'll see. Hodge and company are doing some serious work on the recruiting trail. This team is going to have a lot of quality depth- 49 replies

The 2023/24 UNT Basketball Transfer/Recruiting Tracker
MGNation92 replied to Green Otaku's topic in Mean Green Basketball
I think Stone would do well as the 2020-2021 version of JJ. Lockdown defender that is a utility 6M. Murray proved you don't need to score a lot to be an impact role player. Rubin could also fill that role, but he's way to important offensively not to start/ be the main ball handler. That no look pass to Sissoko in the championship game was Magic-esque and absolutely filthy Whatever Ross decides, this is the best UNT basketball has been in a very long time(probably ever), and for that I'm freaking pumped. -
The claim itself is absurd. UTSA would do very well in the Sun Belt the same as they have in CUSA the last couple of years. I don't think Craven hates UNT, he's just a massive UTSA homer, and it bleeds into his writing and gets quite annoying. We, as a collective fanbase on Twitter and on GMG, call him out for it all the time and it makes him mad. For all I care he can kick rocks, but DCTF is one of the only outlets that covers UNT on a broader basis (albeit very poorly at times). I don't hate the guy. He just wears his orange and blue on his sleeve, much like we wear green on ours. Problem is he's the lead college writer that is supposed to be unbiased against ALL Texas universities, and he isn't.

Hell look at our conference mates that just made the Final Four. Everybody loves to talk about Goldin at 7'1"(and no doubt he helped them) but look at their entire starting lineup for the tournament: Boyd - 6'3 Davis - 6'4 Greenlee - 6'0 Martin - 6'2 Goldin - 7'1 That lineup is smaller overall than CBL's projected starting 5. When the system is good, and the players execute it well, size isn't nearly as important.
