  1. Here's the issue if we keep Seth. We know what he is. He's gonna beat the bad teams, and lose to the good ones. That was true when he was winning 9 games, and also true when he was winning 4 games. If we are to keep him, what does our schedule look like? Assuming we don't bring in an all world QB like Zappe. UTSA - Probably going to be the best team in the west again, Loss UAB - Still strong and Bill Clark is a hell of a coach, Loss La Tech - Can't see them being bad two years in a row under Holtz, he's too consistent, Loss Rice - Not sure Bloomgren is the answer, but they seem to be competitive and usually play us close, tossup UTEP - Bad program, but we play there next season and Littrell has never done well in El Paso, tossup Southern Miss - They're real bad, win SMU - even if Dykes is gone, they're still a better team with a better QB, Loss UNLV - Looks like they've been pretty bad the last couple of years, but it's an away game so who knows, but I'll say win Memphis - Better program, and it's an away game, Loss Crossover games I'm not sure but based on recent opponents I'm gonna say FAU and WKU, and both of those games will be tossups at best You may think hiring a new coach is taking a chance, but at this point I'd rather take a chance than stare down the barrel of MAYBE another 5-7 year, if not worse
  2. I would personally hand deliver my Mustang Club contribution to Rick Hart himself
  3. Concessions would be a good one too.
  4. Agreed. If he wins out he deserves a chance, but we all know that won't happen
  5. Big games and Seth Littrell don't mix. It's an almost guaranteed loss just based on his track record. If you're playing for something, a trophy, a bowl, a rivalry it's not a good sign for a Littrell team.
  6. Seth's UNT career will end not with a whimper, but with 10,000 Drumstick wielding belligerent fans screaming at him UTSA usually brings a good size group any other year. I wouldn't be surprised if they took up a third of Apogee this year
  7. Based on some posters here, that comment is not sarcastic at all. We have a young team, we're building, we're better off than before. 3 STRAIGHT LOSING SEASONS, ONE WITH THE GREATEST QB THE PROGRAM HAS EVER SEEN, AND TWO WITH THE GREATEST WR THE PROGRAM HAS EVER SEEN I hope we beat FIU, UTSA, and win the bowl game. Based on historical facts, that will not happen and Seth should be fired when it doesn't. Of course I wanted him gone last season, but I guess I'm too pragmatic in that sense.
  8. I just can't fathom that it took a SIX GAME LOSING STREAK for the players to go "Hey maybe we should try harder, focus more, and be more disciplined" That's 1) a sign of a very young team figuring things out (better late than never I suppose) and more importantly 2) A very poorly coached team It takes you six straight losses to figure it out? I'm sorry, but hearing stuff like this makes me want Littrell gone even more. There's no reason we shouldn't have been able to win 1 or 2 games in that stretch other than horrible coaching. Maybe Seth is a bad motivator, or bad schemer, or all of the above. Either way it's an indictment on him for not getting the team up to snuff until we're right on the precipice of losing bowl eligibility.
  9. Darrell MFin Dickey. But in all seriousness, Fuente could very well be our Sonny Dykes. I'd much rather take a chance on him than a coach with no FBS experience. He has experience with Wren from Memphis. He's from Oklahoma and coached at TCU for many years, AND a common grip I've seen from VT fans was that he was recruiting Texas TOO MUCH instead of trying to build regional ties on the east coast so the recruiting is there. He's coached QB's (Andy Dalton and Paxton Lynch being the most notable examples) and runs a spread system so the transition would be minimal. It's a no brainer hire and one that could be huge for us
  10. Only way he stays is if he wins out, including the bowl game. Otherwise
  11. Hire Fuente and get the OC from WKU.
  12. Since Seth can't find a QB coach that's worth a damn since Harrell left, maybe he's hoping he can get a guy that's already developed?
  13. I think he means salary wise. Big buyout means he's comfortable financially and doesn't require as big of a salary to start off
  14. UTEP's early season success was a mirage. Seth has done more of the same in year 6 as he has every other year. Beat bad teams, and lose to good ones. This season will be no different, and Wren will decide accordingly.
  15. It's definitely not a story the Jedi would tell you
  16. I'd be happy with either Fuente or Carthel. One thing to note Carthel is 12-16(so far) in his three seasons at SFA Fuente is 17-16(so far) in his last three seasons at VT. Carthel is a rising star for sure, but I'd be wary about his potential success at the FBS level. Fuente, on the other hand has helped build up 2 FBS programs(TCU and Memphis), and despite recent down years (with SKY HIGH expectations from the fanbase and donors), he still has a winning record at VT. Fuente is my preferred candidate with Carthel being second if those are our only options. I'd be willing to bet there will be a lot more than just two coaches vying for this job when it opens.
  17. All that matters is that we had fun
  18. He's from Oklahoma and coached at TCU for 4 years. I can guarantee you he has plenty of Texas ties
  19. Not to mention his ties to both Texas (from his time at TCU) and Wren Baker(From their time at Memphis). He helped develop Andy Dalton at TCU and is a spread guy so the offensive transition wouldn't be too much of a shift
  20. He's saving money. That's the only reason he's waiting
  21. Nearly every other board I visit looks like an geocities page from 2001. Makes me that much more thankful Harry and crew have done such a great job with GMG
  22. I think he's only been hurt the last week or two. My point is he should've been starting from the get go
  23. The fact that he hasn't been starting all year (sans injuries) is completely infuriating. Quinn Whitlock has been picked on every game he's played
