Mentioned on the post game show with JD - This also gives Rodgers two weeks to get all, if not most of the reps with the ones. As good as we looked offensively at times, we could be even better with some consistency.

When is press conference this week
MGNation92 replied to ScreamingEaglesFan's topic in Mean Green Football
The fact that he can't commit to a QB, point blank calling it a platoon in the presser, is damning. Rodgers was calm, prepared, and played better by every metric. Earle has now thrown 5 picks in two games (one was called back because of targeting) This shouldn't even be a question. Earle may have blown everyone away in practice, but when the lights come on, he's been mediocre at best. I'm not saying Rodgers is our next all time great QB, but he looks a hell of a lot more competent and has the experience. Also very clear we don't have the horses to run a 3-3-5. If he doesn't make a change in the system or go super transfer heavy next year to find guys for this system, I will have officially jumped on the fire Morris train. I feel terrible for Mazin Richards. From all conference to completely invisible all because we thought sticking him at the 3 tech was a good idea. You can say all the right things, be transparent and honest, but if you don't win, it's not any better than Littrell. Right now Morris looks like the offensive version of Dan McCarney. -
Mason Fine was our Barry Sanders Greatest to never win a damn thing because the culture of suck is so ingrained in the respective organizations.

And Todd Dodge is one of the greatest coaches in the history of Texas HS Football. Absolutely and unequivocally no more high school coaches to become our HC.

North Texas vs La Tech (9/16/2023) Score Predictions
MGNation92 replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
49-38 La Tech -
The University of North Texas - seen by most as a commuter campus for kids in DFW, seen as a last option for kids who don’t get into Texas or A&M or OU, seen as a jazz/music and liberal arts school. We have no traditions, no history of winning, no sports culture, no emphasis on student participation and school spirit. Majority of students go to school, get their degree, and get the hell out of Denton, never to return again and right back to their UT/A&M/OU t-shirt fandom with their parents None of these things make us a desirable location for winning coaches. None of these things make students want to donate after they graduate, none of these things make people want to buy season tickets or go to games. @SilverEagle talks about how Hayden Fry was the last HC/AD to try to do this, to try and establish an athletic identity in the university, to make students and alum proud of their football team. That was 50 YEARS AGO. None of this will get better until Smatresk and more importantly, Mosley force a culture of athletics and athletic support. We’re diehards here on GMG but most graduates aren’t here and aren’t us. Until we find an athletic identity, nothing will get better, nobody is going to donate, and everybody will continue to say “looks like we suck again, same ole UNT”. Seth Littrell, as it stands, is our ceiling in football, because nobody cares and our administration for DECADES has done nothing to change it. I seriously respect the big money donors that annually light millions of dollars on fire in a waste to support this. I can completely understand why they dropped to FCS in the first place. Did it set us back decades? Absolutely. But that administration saw it, and they gave up. What will this administration do? Tread water like the last 50 years? Or will they step up and actually do something to show we, as a university, give a shit about having quality athletics programs. Basketball is our one saving grace, and Tony Benford nearly destroyed it all on his own. The problem is, we’re in Texas, and unless we’re consistently making Sweet 16’s or better, nobody’s gonna care about that either. The Maniacs are the one thing I’ve seen in my 10 years as a fan that have tried to instill any kind of pride and spirit in an athletic program. Outside of that? It’s crickets. Until we fix the underlying problems of our administration that have been festering for half a century, nothing will matter, and nobody but us salty diehards will care.

Recruiting new members to join this site question
MGNation92 replied to Big Z's topic in Mean Green Football
Either you become obsessed while in school, or UNT starts winning a lot more in football. The day we have true t-shirt fans because we're winning 10+ games a season is the day we'll have increased traffic outside of the diehards. -
If you think winning doesn’t matter…

I get the point you're making and you're not wrong, I just couldn't help but picture this and laugh: -
His LB hire is incredibly inexperienced. No G5 or P5 LB coaching experience: 2013-14: Toledo, graduate assistant 2015-16: Michigan State, graduate assistant 2017: Iowa State, graduate assistant 2018-22: Iowa State, assistant director of player personnel 2023-: UNT, linebackers Couple that with a DC who's never been a DC before, and there's bound to be issues. Jennings is the only guy on the staff that has some skins on the wall. Caponi can coach corners, but can he coach a defense? Kratch can recruit, but can he coach guys to wrap up? This season will be telling. I know coaching is a good ole boys club, but feels like Morris really reached on the defensive side of the ball.

Anyone know what donation Brett is referring to?
MGNation92 replied to Green Crazy's topic in Mean Green Football
Well when you put your entire athletic budget toward your HC's salary, there's not much money to do anything else. See: Literally every other sport they play besides baseball. -

I really don't get Mazin Richards at DE in the 3-3-5. He's 6'1 240 - Good size for an OLB or DE in a 4 man front, horrible size for a DE in a 3 man front. All three guys need to be 300+ to hold up the O-lineman THEN you have guys like Richards filling the gaps and making plays. Makes zero sense to me.

Unlike Seth Littrell and Mason Fine, the only competent QB he ever recruited, Morris won the conference with both Jon Copeland AND Cam Ward. https://uiwcardinals.com/sports/football/roster/jon-copeland/7770 Not to mention his time with Mahomes and Case Keenum(was only a GA at Houston). QB is one of the few positions I am not worried about with Morris.

So do we even have new uniforms? Or are we just using the same basic ones from the last couple seasons. Also if it's up to the players I really hope they don't choose the flying worm 75% of the time like it was before. Or at least that's what it felt like.

Coach Morris Buying Lunch for Students
MGNation92 replied to TheReal_jayD's topic in Mean Green Football
When I was attending, they had a kiosk setup by the Library during the week where you showed your ID and got a ticket. I know everything HAS to be an app these days, but they really make it way too difficult. They already have a system setup around campus to use Eagle Dollars or whatever the hell it's called by swiping your ID. Should be just as easy to swipe, show Active/Inactive Student status, if active you can walk right on in, if inactive, we'd like to direct you to the ticket booth. It's not rocket science -
Report: CUSA Schools Sign Grant of Rights

Judy is an absolute joke of a commissioner. So glad to no longer be associated with that dumpster fire. -
Shorter throws and ball control yes, but based on what I've seen/heard from Earle, I would not be surprised to see him go full Johnny Manziel and make some crazy stuff happen. Feel like that's what separated him from Rogers anyways. Yes they can both run the offense, but Earle has more of the IT factor
